2LP purple vinyl limited to 2000 units
Music On Vinyl continue their Collected series next month with a 2LP selection of music from Cat Stevens pressed on limited edition 2LP purple vinyl.
The double vinyl set offers a decent overview of Stevens’ career starting with a trio of early singles from the 1960s (‘Matthew & Son’, ‘I Love My Dog’ and ‘I’m Gonna Get Me A Gun’) – and the classic ‘The First Cut Is The Deepest’ (from the New Masters album) – before moving on to choice cuts from his classic early seventies era such as ‘Peace Train’, ‘Where Do The Children Play?’, ‘Wild World’, ‘Morning Has Broken’, ‘Moonshadow’ and ‘Lady D’Arbanville’. Side four also includes to ‘Midday (Avoid City After Dark)’, credited to the singer’s latter-day Yusuf Islam identity.
These gatefold Collected sets are part of a long running series and are always really well presented and come in high quality thick PVC sleeves. This purple vinyl edition is limited to 2,000 units and will likely be replaced with a black vinyl once this is out of print.

I got the silver copy when it first came out and pressing was awful. Returned for refund with no issue , then bought standard black version and was a reasonable job .

What was he eating when he wrote Banapple Gas? Cat was having writer’s block when he wrote that and most of the album Numbers.

It’s a picture of the artist with reasonable typography. What were you expecting? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically across the plain… ;)

Stayed in the gleneagles hotel a couple of time before its demolition,now a care home,got a blue plack on it now,visited last year,i love Torquay,lived their for a few years in the 80s, great times

just though the cover looked a bit bland considering some of his classic 70’s albums had nice illustration etc – its the designer in me thats all!
Yeah… I think studio album in the 1970s and third-party licensed greatest hits in the 2020s work to different rules! I’m seen worse…
Also available on 3CD with 54 tracks (!) for half the price (!!). Format wars ;-)

This originally came out as a (limited) 180g black vinyl 2LP set in late 2017.
Also released as a “limited” edition on silver coloured vinyl in 2017. That was from Music on Vinyl as well. How limited is limited!?

I believe that “Peach Train” is meant to be coming on the limited peach-coloured vinyl in 2011…
“Wild Word” I think is a Paul Weller song…
