Cock Robin expanded reissues
Eighties US pop band Cock Robin‘s first two albums are being reissued as expanded deluxe editions by Cherry Red.
The self-titled 1985 debut (which spawned the successful-in-Europe single The Promise You Made) and After Here Through Midland from 1987 both come as expanded single CD editions and include various remixes, single edits and non-album tracks, some of which are new to CD (see full track listings below). These have been curated by DJ, producer and songwriter Vinny Vero, who has sought out the original master tapes and did such a good job on the Basia Time and Tide reissue.
The CD booklets contains comprehensive sleeve notes including track annotations from Peter Kingsbery, the singer and bass player who wrote all of the bands songs.
Both albums are reissued on 8 September 2014.

“sadly, The 3rd album “first love last rites” does not have so much things to add (Single edit of “Worlds Apart”, B Side “We’ve changed” and a live track…)
So i Guess it will never be re-released…”
Well, here’s an idea: add these 3 tracks to the album, then include a DVD of the “Live In Concert” VHS which features 6 albumtracks. Or a CD with the full live set, as in the film the music is interfered by ‘interviews’…

Thank you to everyone who left positive comments about these two reissues. As fans of the band, I think you will enjoy them very much. As usual, I had a fantastic time putting them together. I appreciate the support SDE have given to them. To Kiki, the answer to your question about Basia is “yes”. Announcements are usually made on my website.
We need more of these kind of bands’ catalogue getting the reissue treatment, instead of ever-more-elaborate editions of things we’ve been sold over and over again.
And the fact that Vinnie Vero’s involved will guarantee my interest, despite owning the originals.
Well said Eric, I have a couple of their singles and a couple of remixes digitally, and i remember buying a cassette single of Worlds Apart which was an excellent track.
£8 the debut album is well worth a pop.
I’ve checked on discogs, nothing was missing here (all mixes are included here)! Not so sure about the b-sides! I’m more interested in the remixes! I have most of them already! But it’s good to have them all collected at one (in this case: two) place(s)! :D
“When Your Heart Is Weak” is one of my favorite 80s songs. I can’t remember if I have the remixes on anything, so I’ll probably end up springing for the self-titled album, if not both. Nice to see that these will be available again.
I was just listening to them last night. I’m very excited to see reissues of these two albums! (And for all the people here making snarky comments – go check out the sophisticated pop of this band. There are some elements that are very “of the era,” but the vocals in particular are fantastic. Read Wikipedia if you don’t understand the band’s name.
Is Cock Robin the same band as the Revolting Cocks?
Was it not produced by Steve Hillage?
Yes, William It was really, please, please let me get….. silent running is my old time favourite.
well if they license cock robin then my hopes of cherry red releasing the Shades of liberty album by Silent Running aren’t so remote after all :)
.. and Talking about Vinie Vero : Is Basia’s second album reissue on the way ?
Wow! That’s Great ! I’ve been waiting for years for such a reissue ! Some of the B Sides or 12″ mixes have been available before, but I think everything’s in it this time !
sadly, The 3rd album “first love last rites” does not have so much things to add (Single edit of “Worlds Apart”, B Side “We’ve changed” and a live track…)
So i Guess it will never be re-released…
If people who wants to go further with that band, I absolutely recommend their 2006 reunion album “I don’t Want To Save The World” !
Are you serious kevin and Jock? The band is awesome and the complete discography should be in the collection of everybody with a good taste of music. Will be bought even if I have the original cd issues.they are still active these days.
Very amusing.
I’m now looking forward to the announcement of the Twat George deluxe reissues.
I think the word we’re all looking for here is…why?
……….and who?
For the ignorant ones on this blog, COCK ROBIN were a very popular band in mainland EUROPE in the 80s. Many of these singles were big hits (TOP 10 when it used to mean something) in countries such as GERMANY, FRANCE , ITALY and SPAIN….Please don’t be only UK centered….Give it a listen , it was good quality POP with fine song writing. I will buy these reissues.
