U2 / The Joshua Tree (reissue)
U2 have another go at reissuing The Joshua Tree. This 30th anniversary set includes the album played live at Madison Square Garden, a discs of remixes and B-sides/rarities. Both CD and vinyl sets come with big hardcover book and Anton Corbijn prints. 
Bob Marley & The Wailers / Exodus 40: The Movement Continues
This 40th anniversary reissue of Bob Marley‘s Exodus comes as two-CD, three-CD and super deluxe editions. Ziggy Marley has revisited the original session recordings, uncovering unused and never-before-heard vocals and instrumentation and created brand-new session takes. The triple disc set adds Exodus Live, recorded at London’s Rainbow Theatre on the week of release. The super deluxe box set isn’t out until the end of June.
Iggy Pop / Vinyl reissues
The coloured vinyl pressings of Iggy Pop‘s The Idiot, Lust For Life and TV Eye Live sold out in a blink of a (TV) eye, but don’t let that put you off. These have been remastered from the original tapes for the first time and the vinyl has been cut straight from the analog tapes, too.
Roger Waters / Is This The Life We Really Want? (new album)
So long was the gap between albums (25 years to be exact) Sony reissued 1992’s Amused to Death before Roger Waters had even followed it up. But the new album, Is This The Life Really Want, sounds like his best work in… well, at least 25 years!
Humble Pie / The A&M Vinyl Box Set (9LP)
This Humble Pie vinyl box features newly remastered versions of all of the band’s A&M albums and has been put together in conjunction with Jerry Shirley and Peter Frampton.
Ry Cooder / Paris Texas (coloured vinyl)
It’s not exactly cheap (at least in the UK) but this translucent blue vinyl edition of Ry Cooder’s evocative score is limited to just 900 copies.
Sheryl Crow / Be Myself (vinyl)
If you’d given up on Sheryl Crow, I’d recommend her wonderful new album, which has been on heavy rotation on the SDE CD player. The vinyl version finally gets released on Friday.
Evan Dando / Baby I’m Bored (reissue)
Fire Records reissue Evan Dando‘s 2003 solo album. The double CD edition comes in smart book packaging, while the 2LP edition is pressed on yellow vinyl. Both offer 12 bonus tracks.
Status Quo / The Vinyl Singles Collection 1980-1984
The second Status Quo seven-inch singles box delivers twelve singles from 1980-1984 (ie all of them). The lift-off lid box contains a booklet and this comes with a download code..
Hank Marvin / Without A Word (new album)
Hank Marvin‘s 16th solo album contains 14 new recordings – largely his interpretation of some of his all-time favourite tunes. Signed copies of the CD still available.
Erasure / Love You To The Sky (CD single)
Erasure‘s first single from their World Be Gone album is Love You To The Sky. It is being issued as a physical 8-track CD single, this week (although it appears only to be available in the UK).

This is a question about a return. Hope somebody can help me.
I ordered the big 6-disc Sgt. Pepper’s box from Amazon.fr.
It arrived in town on 5 June, but the local US Post Office required a signature. Got it on 6 June, but the box set was damaged, and this could be seen on the outer packaging too.
Don’t know where the damaged occurred, but I’ve never had a problem with overseas orders of box sets before.
Amazon.fr has sent me various labels to put on the box, and inside, but also I am a tad confused as to which goes where (I know French, but also translated it and I’m still not sure)
I’m also not sure what is cheapest/safest/quckest to use to send it. USPS? DHL? Or something else. Amazon.fr will refund me €7, but I think my postage will cost more.
Anybody out there in the US experienced in what to do? I’d be really appreciative for the help!
A key release out tomorrow and strangely left out?? The new Saint Etienne…”Home Counties”!! They are as English as they come and fit SDE to a T, why leave them out Paul?? Unless you weren’t aware of their new album or not a fan?? Looks like another goodie to me. Also, the much delayed debut album by new English darkpop siren Dua Lipa on Warners, the new Halsey on Astralwerks, and a new Dan Auerbach solo from the Black Keys…interesting release day…
Coulda fooled me…it looks like they tried to get only US artists on this set and goofed on 2…there are no Brits on here and tons of them had US hits in the 80s, why leave them out?? Strange set and despite the cheap price, I am avoiding…
Good point, if it were a US playlist it would contain a lot of brit music from the second wave. If it were just US artists then someone has a dodgy map. Flock of Seagulls / Billy Idol for instance… (in fact just watch The Wedding Singer and the point is made)….
Rick Springfield might be Aussie but he was big in the US for a few years in the Eighties. As you rightly point out, it’s “US Playlist” in the title, not “US Artists”
Weird tracklist…that “80s US Playlist” and a couple of them are not even American artists!! Hanoi Rocks???? Ummm, Michael Monroe and the boys are from FINLAND and that cover of CCR wasn’t even a US hit!! And Rick Springfield is an Aussie. That collection just shows how lame US mainstream top 40 radio was in the 80s…no thanks.
Errr. I think they meant songs played on US radio in the 80s. Nothing to do with where the artists came from.
Unsure if Suicide Is Painless was a hit ever but that should be on a 70s compilation.

After much reflection, I’ve just cancelled my pre-order for the Joshua Tree 30th box set. It doesn’t justify upgrading from the 20th anniversary box, not with the same 2007 master (!) and a £70+ price tag.
If only they’d put in a 5.1 mix…
In all U2’s reissues there has never been a 5.1 mix as far as I know. Not even in the Uber-Achtung Baby box set. They clearly seem not to be interested in that sorta thing.
I can understand it with their early albums but the Eno/Lanois productions cry out for a surround sound mix. Fingers criossed for the 35th anniversary super deluxe box…
The 2 cd set is fine by me as like you already have the last box set
In Germany ‘World be gone’ is released as a 2cd edition + the second disc is simply the ‘Love you to the sky’ single.
Fun fact: Erasure (shockingly) made it into the UK top 10 albums chart with their new album at no. 6. It’s their first top 10 (studio) album since Cowboy in 1997! Three cheers for longevity.

The song was released 1970. Funny it was on the “US playlists” in the 80s.
Here, in the UK anyway, it reached number 1 in May 1980.
It’s one of my favourite films. The song was pretty much ignored here upon release, until a full 10 years later it started to be heavily played at the weekend by Noel Edmonds on Radio 1 in early 1980. Edmonds had a habit of picking obscure tracks and playing them repeatedly until they were hits as noted by the success of Captain Beaky and his Band by Keith Michell of the same year.
Erasure CD appears to have disappeared from Amazon UK.

That’s a really interesting track listing. Of course, there are some of the “usual suspects,” but quite a few of these are not the tracks you expect to see on one of these collections. I may have to pick this up.
