Ryan Adams / Heartbreaker deluxe sets
Ryan Adams hit the ground running with his critically acclaimed debut studio album Heartbreaker released back in September 2000 and slated for an expanded reissue this May by Universal Music Catalogue.
The deluxe editions of Heartbreaker will each feature a total of 35 tracks, at the heart of which are the album’s original 15 songs, remastered by Adams’ friend and stalwart collaborator Ethan Johns. Johns produced (and played bass and drums) on Adams’ 2000 record, which was recorded in just two weeks at Woodland Studios in Nashville, with the assistance of Dave Rawlings and Gillian Welch (guitars and backing vocals), Pat Sansone (keyboards), and guest vocalists Emmylou Harris, Kim Richey and Alison Pierce.
The other 20 tracks on this expanded reissue include demos and outtakes, some previously unreleased, including a cover of Morrissey‘s Viva Hate B-side Hairdresser On Fire and this recording of the beautiful Locked Away.
The reissue is available in two deluxe formats: a 4LP+DVD deluxe box set which includes all of the bonus material and comes presented in a custom jacket and slipcase. The DVD features a film of the New York show at the Mercury Lounge in October 2000, which includes Adams’ first-ever performance of Oasis’s Wonderwall. It also includes a glossy booklet featuring rare and unseen photos, images of Adams’ ephemera and liner notes by Johns. Not 100 percent confirmed, but it’s highly likely this vinyl box will include a download card.
The well-priced 2CD+DVD package repeats the audio content of the vinyl box, but on compact disc. This version comes in a 16-page rigid cascade book (featuring similar content to the booklet above).
Heartbreaker is released on 6 May 2016.

[…] Brick England which I think is better than anything from SUPER. Ryan Adams‘ well thought out Heartbreaker reissue debuts at number 28 and Rick Wakeman‘s Journey to the Centre of the Earth reissue […]
This will be wonderful. Most encouraging is that Ryan has always refused release of the massive amount of unreleased stuff in the vaults. There are great whole albums there that have never seen the light of day.
Hopefully the precedent set by putting out the stuff on the second disc will mean that there is more to come.
And as everyone says great price.
God knows… :)
Here’s a clue for you all, the Walrus was Paul, not Justyn.
Who is Justin Barnes ?
Let’s get it trending! #whoisjustynbarnes
I’m not sure it’s a cover of Hairdresser on Fire, I think it is a discussion about the track (maybe the full length version of track 1 on heartbreaker?). I heard a snippet on iTunes and it was just talk, and the track showed as only about 1.30 in length
Oh, I see.
Bloody hell… impressive track listing and reasonably priced. I nearly dropped my bacon sandwich.
Indeed. Compare this to the £80+ 3LP Pure McCartney!
