The progression of these shows to the final night’s set is absolutely fascinating on its own terms even as it renders Woodstock a direct line of site destination. Don’t let the absence of ‘hits’ distract…
Charles, Thanks for the vinyl comments. I was seriously considering picking it up on RSD however based on price and not knowing if it was a quality pressing, I passed. I’m seriously considering the 4 CD box set but hopefully a quality direct from analog masters complete vinyl edition will be released. I guess it all depends on sales and demand.
I’m sure hard core fans will like this, but I doubt Sony’s marketing department expects to sell boatloads of a 4 CD live box set recorded a year before Woodstock, long before they hit their peak, and which therefore contains none of their signature songs which came much later (i.e. Everyday People, Hot Fun in the Summertime, Family Affair, etc). Nice as this is, Sony should have bigger priorities of what to reissue from their legendary archives vis a vis Sly and other artists.
I agree with you that the 2LP set and the 4 CD should have been announced simultaneously. Since you have the vinyl, I’m curious if it’s a quality pressing? Thanks
The pressing seems legit to me on my system. Very nice job indeed. I agree with Lost that it was a bit of a let down that it was only part of the show.
Bought the super-expensive 2LP set only to discover it was a teaser for a more complete box set and I’m fucking pissed.
And not even a fucking download code, of course.
Don’t go to the early show…
