Say I'm Your Number One: Stock Aitken Waterman – The Singles Box

There’s good news and bad news for pop fans keenly awaiting the release of Demon Music’s Say I’m Your Number One Stock Aitken Waterman CD singles box set…

Let’s get the bad news out of the way first…it has been delayed slightly, but is now promised for 4 December 2015.

Now onto the good news… When this was first announced it was a 30CD box set with a bonus disc available exclusively via the Demon Music Store. That bonus disc (making it a 31-disc set, maths fans) was a a four-track CD single featuring Agents Aren’t Aeroplanes‘ The Upstroke. After listening to your feedback Demon are now making this 31CD version available to everyone. So if, for example, you have ordered via Amazon UK, you’ll get the bonus disc as well! Nice.

If you have already placed your order via the Demon Music Store and are feeling aggrieved that you are no longer getting an exclusive, think again, because you will now get an 20″ x 30″ poster unavailable elsewhere. Just as a reminder, the Demon Music Store only ships to UK and Eire.

Anyone who pre-ordered the box via HMV in the hope of going to the Pete Waterman signing event should be aware by now that this has been cancelled.

This 31CD Say I’m Your Number One SAW box is released on 4 December 2015.

@Kiki/Kokachoo/Max! I’ve been told by a friend that they re-did Nathan Jones CD! I wrote them about the corrected CD without the glitch. They sent me the replacement CD. I’ve got it in about 7 days (UK>NL).

Got reply from jpc.de! They said yes 31CD’s! I asked again explicitly about the 31st bonus CD (which is only available with Edsel/Amazon/HMV orders)! They contacted their supplier & got an confirmation of the 31st bonus CD! So people it is the best deal:

Before it was €169,99 (30CD’s) on jpc.de! I got a €5 refund so far. Earlier in the evening I ordered from amazon.it. So I wanted to cancel mine from jpc.de! But I noticed they changed the description to 31CD’s & the price at €120,99! If that’s true I’ll cancel from amazon.it & stick with jpc.de & expect a futher refund on the price :P I sent jpc.de an email. Hope they’ll reply very soon.

What A Night (12″ Remix) is on the CD Dolly Dots ‎- Give The Girls A Break 84-87. I don’t know where I’ve put it. Discogs doesn’t have the track duration. So I don’t know for sure at the moment.

Yes (I’m angelman60 ;-), the one on “the twelve inches…” doesn’t have the glitch. So if you’re a hardcore collector, you have to have “the twelve inches…” to get all versions without glitch.

I mean as long as the 12″ Mix is on CD without a glitch then it’s fine. I have that Twelves Inches Of …CD, only misplaced somewhere in my room. If the one on the Twelve Inches Of… is the Extended Version on Nathan Jones-CD then the 12″Mix is affected & unavailable elsewhere Edsel have to replace the CD for us.

anyway this is a real gem considering many are not released/available on CD when it was first released back then but the set is still missing big fun etc etc… here’s hoping there will be a box #2.

btw what’s wrong with the Nana’s Nathan Jones CD? Mine didn’t have a problem…

sure yours has the same problem than the others. there is a blank in the nathan Jones 12″ Mix at 1 min 15sec. That’s weird because it didn’t happen in the Warner compilation “Twelve inches of Bananarama”!

Some said this mix with a glitch is not the one on “the twelve inches of …” on hitfactory forum. And the Extended Version & 12″ Mix are slightly different as well.

OceanBlue, reissue companies don’t like to publicize instances where vinyl has been used as a source because even if the transfer is done well this can still deter some customers from buying. You’d be surprised how many reissue CDs you have that feature vinyl transfers that you’re not aware of because they were done well. The mere mention of the word vinyl can make some buyers feel ripped off. I don’t see a problem using vinyl if there are no viable master tapes available and there is a market for an album. Some engineers can work wonders. Don’t take this to mean I endorse transfers with rumble, pops and clicks though! I just don’t feel that some music should be lost forever just because the master tapes are.

I couldn’t believe there was a market for that Bananarama box set?!?!?!
In all fact, if it weren’t for the production value on these tracks, well… these artists wouldn’t be given a glance in regards to a rerelease.

Now “what I want” is a Dead Or Alive box set! … just like this! … complete with all of the band’s singles and all the b-sides on the appropriate discs, mini LP replica sleeves… their 2CD “12” Anthology” compilation was supposed to be released years ago but this would be much better! Pete Burns has one of the best voices around.

Really looking forward to this set. I wonder if all the tracks will be sourced from master tapes?? I’ve heard a couple of rumours that some of this set will be sourced from vinyl rips. If that’s true, i’d be quite disappointed.

I’m not saying NO to vinyl rips. I’d only like to read it on the press release that vinyl rips are included in the set. I can understand if you can’t find another source, but, please, say it !

Ah well; – I took the plunge and just ordered the 31 cd set from amazon.it altho it still was saying there was only 30 cds on it. Hopefully the euro will go down which will make it cheaper! If it goes down on amazon.co.uk are you able to cancel the Italian purchase before the new release date?

Yes nothing stopping you cancelling one and ordering another. But you can’t leave cancelling too late.. once it gets to 2/3 days before release then they might start the despatch process and often then it’s harder/impossible to cancel.

My Play postage is a nightmare. They charge top whack and send it by the cheapest postal service around such as TNT second class post. The last one I ordered from them was sent 4 days before release date. Just as well. It took 4 days to get to me. They make more money from the postage charge than they make from the actual release itself.

The problem is Paul is that the price dropped to £98 on Amazon, so I would have paid less and got a more reliable service. A poster as incentive to get from MyPlay would not have been my choice. Their delivery is unreliable too. I do feel a little conned. The only reason I was accepting of the problems with MyPlay (Price & Postage) was because of the bonus Disc.

I think they were reacting to criticism from fans who couldn’t order from the Demon site… but fair point I guess. You could always cancel and order via Amazon Italy where it’s currently £99. Or hope that the UK price dips.

A limited edition poster, no matter the size, is hardly suitable compensation for those of us that ordered via Demon. Could it be too few people ordered it from Demon and it didn’t want to be left with a load of Agents Aren’t Aeroplanes cds?
