Interesting that this is currently ONLY available for Prime Members now. Maybe using it as “bait” for the upcoming “Prime Day” promotion. Bummer as I’m a Prime member here in the US and have no need for Amazon.uk prime.

Paolo Meccano

Now that I’ve got my hands on this, has anyone else noticed the 1990’s NME playing card amongst the “vintage” memorabilia reproduced in the ‘Mixing up the Medicine’ book..?

Kevin

Mine just arrived as well. Super nice set. Thanks again, Paul. It’s also worth noting it is still at that same price as of 5/11/16. Being in the U.S., it may also be the quickest something arrived from Amazon.co.uk (2 weeks!). I feel like it took the Beatles Stereo Box set close to a month to get here.

KevinK

Volume 10 – Another Self Portrait (1969-1971) – deluxe 4CD is currently available from Amazon for under £45 at the moment.

Mad Earwig

I have just had mine turn up and it is a lovely set, very slickly put together, love the package and the 6 disc edition is probably the best value.

I have heard the 18 disc edition, which is amazing in concept, but just a bit over the top when you analyse how many actual extra tracks you get.

This was a great treat at £49…cheers Paul

Noel

Fopp in Manchester had a few copies last Monday… For a tenner! I got one, and they told me that because it had been deleted they’d have to destroy them, hence the knockdown price!

Richie

This is an absolute bargain, I paid £20 more for this upon release from HMV and I am still very happy with that price.

Those of you wanting the vinyl box keep checking out the Amazon European sites, I picked mine up for £40, now that’s what I call a bargain (Amazon Italy).

David H

I picked this up when it was released, it’s definitely only for those Dylan fans who like the “Dylan goes electric” period with the Band. Not being around in the 60’s, it seems weird that fans were aghast Dylan went electric as musically this is my favourite period of his music.
As you can see from the track listing, it’s very repetitive but also very interesting to hear how the songs were developed in the studio.

Charles Hodgson

If you take a good look at the picture at the top of the page, it’s obvious that this isn’t on the same level as products like the Original Albums Series multi-cd sets. This is a definite “luxury” item.

I’ve been highly critical of the prices charged for Dylan deluxe editions. $600 USD+ for the 18cd version was a disgrace, and £100+ for this 6cd version was still a rip-off, plain and simple.

But look at it this way, a set like this is a top-end item and will hopefully provide years of enjoyment – like the Basement Tapes Box Set, and how often do quality (and limited) products reduce in price to lower than 50% RRP anyway?

I’d say now was the time to move if you want this. Your choice.

James Pigg

Too good to refuse. I missed out on a deal for this from Amazon.it before Christmas, so delighted to nab it at half price. As ever, thanks for the heads up Paul.

Kevin

Nabbed thanks to patience and SDE! Thanks, Paul!

Paolo Meccano

Thanks for the heads-up, Paul.

I’d avoided buying the 2cd version in case a good deal came up for this edition – and it has :-)

Mark Carroll

Many, many thanks for that…..

Mark Phillips

AAArrrggghhh. Still can’t afford it!

AFGreenwood

I guess the question is, will it come down further?
If I hold my nerve will I eventually get it for £30 or will it go back up and never come down again… the stress… the tension…

Tyrone Tudor

I agree. 6CD’s for £50 is still too much. There are some great 5cd bundles to be had on the “Original Album” series for £12! With many top artists to choose from.

‘bootleg’ and £50 just doesn’t seem right… :/

Saying that poor Dylan is the most bootlegged artist of all time so he might want to reap the rewards for the remastering – and why not. But lower the price pleeasee.

CJ Feeney

The packaging on these are way better than any Original Album Series for £12. The original £100 price tag was way too much, but £8.50 per disc and the packaging make it a decent buy – but only if you really love Dylan. Certainly better than the 3 disc vol. 8 or the 4 disc vol. 10.
The 6 disc vol. 11 Complete Basement Tapes is the best of the bunch though.

Mad Earwig

I’m the same with ‘ties that bind’ set, waiting for the sub £50 but refuse at £70 out of principle for a 1970 album!

Lee Taylor

I’ve had terrible luck with orders from Amazon U.K. lately (my last delivery was literally an empty box), but I’ve gotta roll the dice at this price.

Jon 77

Wish there was a deal on the vinyl set :(

tom

Ordered – thank you Paul!

Brian

Arggggghhhh… I already own the 18-disc version, but could not resist getting this one, too. The obsessive-compulsive me needed one to fit on the same shelf next to the more modest Deluxe Editions of Vols. 10 & 11. They shall not gather moss!

DJ Control

“How Does It Feel, How Does It Feel?…” to score an SDE bargain!

simon taylor

Great value. I guess the price was due to come down eventually but a definite must have for any Dylan fan.

Jim

This was £49.99 instore in HMV yesterday as well. Two disc was £7.99. 18 disc was £79.99. Nah I made that last one up.

Gis A. Bun

The 18 disc version could of been called the Super Deluxe Limited Collectors Special Edition. Discs 7 though 18 would be all filled with further takes of Like A Rolling Stone [those not on Disc 3].

Richie

The 18 disc set cost me…..zilch!

Mad Earwig

Yeah, but MP3 doesn’t count as it sounds sh… poor.
