Deal alert / Prince: Nothing Compares 2 U / black vinyl seven-inch single
When this Prince seven-inch was announced, SDE explained how ordering the picture disc seven-inch vinyl of Nothing Compares 2 U could cost you almost £70 if you reside in the UK. Thankfully, if you can make do with the black vinyl version, then you’ll only pay a fraction of that price, thanks to a new price drop in the UK.
The seven-inch single was £18 this morning on Amazon UK (!) but has now dropped to just £5.99 which is as cheap as I’ve seen this anyway. Granted, not exactly a giveaway price for a seven-inch single, but if you’re a Prince fan and want this in your collection, you may as well pay the least amount of money!! This will be issued on 25 May 2018.

This has arrived its not a normal 7 inch it has a big bloody hole in the middle of it like a 78?
Really, could the estate not find one single song to include as a B-side? Shameful. I can’t even see why there is any need for an “edit version” in the first place.
I was fortunate enough to be in Minneapolis in April when the purple edition was released, and managed to bag a couple of them for my collection. I agree that the estate are milking this release however as long suffering Prince fans we shouldn’t shouldn’t expect any less, and I for one am very glad we are getting physical releases to collect. Back in stock at Amazon on pre-order but now £8.93!
This Prince single on Amazon, as has already been mentioned is now unavailable, however if you REALLY want one and missed out they have them available at £8.99 to pre-order at What Records here! https://www.whatrecords.co.uk/items/83656.htm
Now currently unavailable with no option to pre order at Amazon UK. That may change of course!
Can’t quite believe the difference in price between the two. Black vinyl version great for that money, the pic disc completely ott imo, you can’t play it, but great to put on the wall!!
There’s an unreleased album on the way too, it!s on something called Tidal (like I know whatever Tidal is…)

Tidal is a streaming service you will have to subscribe to. Looks like they will have the exclusive rights for two weeks before there will be a physical release.
The Tidal album will be released next year and feature post-1996 material. There is another album coming this September from Warners which will feature material from his time with Warners.
Free delivery with Prime and a £1 digital voucher for a no rush delivery. :)
The ‘no rush’ thing is actually really good…
I received on Saturday the purple vinyl edition – absolutely beautiful!
I’m looking forward to the picture disc – which I think ships in June.
The black vinyl will make a nice trio of release.
There are a number of other Prince 7inch editions which I’ve bought as a trio. A couple that come to mind are:
If I was Your Girlfriend; black vinyl, peach vinyl with sticker set and a great poster sleeve edition.
Anotherloverholenyohead; black vinyl, double pack and poster sleeve.
I am looking forward to receiving the purple 7″
Thanks Paul,
Love this version, so I’ve picked it up. we all know picture discs are pretty, but i’m interested in the sound so regular vinyl will do just nicely
Excellent, snapped up, thanks Paul. Do you know how many the black vinyl is limited to please?
Upon adding the £2.99 postage & packing (no freebie delivery price with this one) then the single amounts to nearly £9. Think I will risk it and pop to my local record shop to purchase for £5.99/6 on release day…but thank you, as always, for the heads up anyway Paul :)
If you go over a certain amount or have Prime, postage is free. I bought a book from my wishlist and got free delivery.
£20 spend secures a free delivery of around 3-4 days…
Thanks Paul. Much Appreciated once again !!
Great price and much more reasonable thanks Paul
