Proceed with caution re the Scorpions box. I nearly bought from emp for around £100 middle of last year. I did some research regarding the pressing quality & a number of people on the stevehoffman forums reckoned they were far from great. Original pressings are superb apparently & can be found on discogs for similar amounts of money.

@Roel: infact, a mono 160 kbps mp3 should be the same than a stereo 320 kbps, qualitywise ;-)
The exchange rate seems to cause a different price. Actual GBP price with postage is showing as £165.08.

I thought it had gone too as it would not proceed. However, I have just tried again and my order was accepted. Hope the packaging is good. My Beatles box set from Amazon Germany was slightly damaged, corner dinged, as not well packaged. I haven’t returned it as I guess I would not get a replacement and the price was good.

You Should have complained on your box set getting damaged, I received the Tom Petty Vol 2 box set Slightly damaged, I went absolutely mad at Amazon for their poor packaging and delayed delivery, it dissapeared for 2 weeks en route, it was just put in a much bigger box and zero protection, and just loosely banging around, great packaging considering it cost nearly £250.00 – not! I sent several e Mails, and kept on at them, in the end they sent me a replacement for free!

Bloody hell Paul. I was dreading an alert for this box set. Just received mine 3 days ago. Thought I had a bargain at €188 (after vat deduction) from Amazon Fr. Well, it still is a good price and I’m happy!!
On another note, as I’m not eligible for Amazon’s free auto rip (being in Australia), I used the download code (Universal’s Sound of vinyl) contained in the box. To my absolute disgust & horror, the download is at 160kbps. I cannot believe that for such a so called high end & high priced product, they only provided a 160kbps download. Given that nearly all their vinyl releases come with 320kbps downloads, I cannot fathom why they would put “The Stones” in at 160. Has anyone else downloaded this box set?? No wonder why people resort to unofficial means.
I’m not an expert in mp3 encoding, but isn’t 160 exactly what you get for mono files, when stereo files of the same quality would have 320 kbps? Are those files in true mono?

Maybe the downloads are 160 instead of 320kbps because they’re mono, and so only half as much data is needed?
