  1. Elton John 8CD Jewel Box – if there is anybody out there that hasn’t got this yet and wants it – Amazon UK currently have it at £39.99 (price shows as £79.99, but if you tick the £40 ! voucher box then price reduces to £39.99

    1. The John Mayall Madfish box set is also 175 GBP on Amazon UK. Both this and the mentioned Caravan set are amazing, just received them a couple of days ago. I missed the Gentle Giant one as could not afford it at the time and it is no longer available at reasonable prices.

      1. Thanks for this. John Mayall ordered. I couldn’t quite justify the original £275 price tag but £175 is too good to miss.
One question – the Amazon listing doesn’t mention that it is signed. My understanding is that all copies have a signed photo. Is this correct?

      2. Hi Pablo, did you know that disc 20 with the title “Thru The Years” contains the wrong content. The title named of track 12 is ‘Suspicions (Part 1)’ but in reality it is a different song with the title: “Gasoline Blues”. I’m still looking for the email address of the company to ask for a replacement disc. If you or someone else knows it: let me know!

        1. Yes thanks, my Mayall set had the wrong cd as well. I contacted Snapper via Amazon (where I bought this) and they came back today saying they will ship a replacement. I recall there was a thread in the Steven Hoffman forum with the email details if you want to contact them separately. Believe most of the people there got the replacement in due course. Some folks also mentioned problems with a couple of items in the Caravan set (Holland live Cd and also DVD) but mine played fine so maybe Snapper included new versions in later stock or I was plainly lucky…

          1. Checked out my Caravan box which arrived today and in the first batch (of 4) of CDs I found 2 copies of the Dutch live CD. I thought oh oh, maybe one of the other CDs will be missing, when I checked all CDs were present. Maybe I have one of the faulty CDs and a replacement. I’ll play them tomorrow along with the DVD, I was unaware of any faulty discs. Have to say this box set is superb just looking at it.

  2. Not a deal per se but of interest for all those people here regularly complaining about missing surround versions on deluxe editions:

The newly announced record by Polish prog rock outfit Riverside, ID.Entity (to be released in January 2023) will be available as a 2cd/1br-a edition in mediabook-packaging, including the full album plus two bonus tracks in Atmos, 5.1-surround and hi-res stereo.

Now the album just needs to be good…

    1. These guys were headlining a festival in Poland which was the first big gig I saw after covid restrictions began to be lifted (around August 2021). I didn’t really know them but they were impressive live. Will be checking this out, thanks.

  3. Not a huge saving but considering it started at £18 a couple of weeks ago, the recent 2CD Kinks – Muswell Hillbillies/Everybody’s In Show-biz remaster is down to £12 on Amazon UK.

Side note that there’s also a bit of money off the standard CD editions of a load of recent releases (the new Red Hot Chili Peppers album down to £7.99, new Beth Orton £8.99, new Paul Heaton & Jacqui Abbott £7.99, new Slipknot £7.99)

  4. Amazon UK currently have both Philadelphia International Records box sets (Get on Board the Soul Train and Satisfaction Guaranteed) at £49.99! They were approx £90 on release.

  5. There’s a 25% off selected box sets deal on at HMV at the moment – though I’m not sure there’s much of note in there that hasn’t been cheaper elsewhere.

The only one that stood out was the recent Joni Mitchell The Asylum Albums (1972-1975) box at £34, though I suspect that one will one day in the near future end up sub-£25 like the first album box. (Amazon UK are also price matching this one).

      1. Both really decent prices and worth a punt if you haven’t got either, but both have been cheaper. Berry’s set is frequently £20 when Music Magpie run their 20% deals on eBay and the Bowie was £70 on Amazon UK a month ago and is £68 on Amazon DE right now.

    1. Hello Michelle, I would think you can cancel after a year. It does also say you can cancel at any time so once your first year is done, I think it would be OK to cancel after that. They are definitely not holding you to a lifetime subscription (overexaggerated I know). I forgot to mention that this deal is for UK subscribers only.

      1. Thanks for this great deal alert, Gary. The subscription is via a continuous payment authority, so anyone not wanting the subscription to auto-renew after 12 months needs to cancel the CPA before the end of the 12 month period. Doing it later will be too late and you’ll have committed to a second 12 months’ subscription.

  6. Does anyone else get the sense that record companies are launching “deluxe” versions at ridiculous prices then discounting them so people think they get a “bargain “? Happening more and more

    1. I don’t think so.

I’ve been collecting music since 1977 and stuff like that has always happened, sometimes more, sometimes less.

You’re right in that box sets (like concert tickets some years ago) have risen in price during the last few months but i guess that’s because almost everything else has higher prices now too.

During these 45 years i learned to set for myself a price which a record is worth to me and buy it at that price when i have the funds for it.

Nowadays this is even easier to control than back in the days without the internet.

There are enough websites where you can choose an item you’re interested in and set it on price alert so you’ll receive a notification if said items price has dropped below that personal barrier.

You can even do it on some music merchants sites directly, e.g. at jpc in Germany.

    2. Yes I agree with that Martin. Here in the US, Amazon sets the pre-sale price ridiculously high, then after it is released -or sometimes even before- they drop the price to where it should be. Look at the Animals SDE from Pink Floyd. They start it out at $105, then eventually drop it to $61! And $61 is the normal price for that boxset if you look at the various Amazons in Europe. And this happens so often now that it has become routine.

  7. Here is something you might like. Classic Pop Magazine are doing a yearly subscription for just £24.99 at the moment and if you take up their current offer you get a Now Yearbook Cd bundle containing sets 80 to 84 absolutely free. Wow. That’s chuffing brilliant.

    1. Thanks for pointing this out Gary.

Sadly i have bought all those yearbooks (and pre-ordered ’79 and ’85 as well) so this is not for me.

If you happen to see an offer where you’ll receive the ’84 Extra Yearbook as a free gift i’d be happy if you’ll post about that too because that’s the one i have so far missed out on.
Currently being offered at certain websites for £40 and more which is a bit too expensive i think…

        1. Thanks a lot Mike, much appreciated.

Strangely it can’t be found when you search via the point ‘cd’ in the drop down menu but i got it via the landing page sliding through the cover gallery.

It says there that the item is in stock so i hope that nothing goes wrong this time.

I already had ordered it twice via Amazon, once from themselves, once from a third party seller, but both of these orders got cancelled in the end.

So i’ve got my fingers crossed NOW…

  8. Wilco’s Yankee Foxtrot Hotel 8CD has dropped c£15 from its starting point a couple of weeks ago and it’s £86 on Amazon UK at the moment.

    And on Amazon DE:

Bob Dylan – Springtime In New York (Bootleg 16) is an excellent £73
Max Richter’s 8CD/BR Sleep box set is £20
The Band’s Cahoots (2CD, LP, 7″ and BR) is £63
Bowie’s Brilliant Adventure box is £67

    1. Hi Matt,

      thanks for posting these.

As for the Max Richter-box they’re only selling it for the same amount as jpc.de does for some days now.

I posted it here at the time but i guess Paul somehow hasn’t noticed it and therefore hasn’t greenlighted said post.

    1. By the looks of it the set has been reduced on Rarewaves quite significantly. Around £71 on their store, additionally I believe that the Starless boxset is £57.20 at the moment (Low Stock Warning). Additionally, if this is your first purchase and you sign up for the newsletter you’ll get 10% off (I THINK).

    2. I thought at first that there had been a sudden run of fake boxes flooding into the market because the price drop is pretty unexpected (and it seemed to be only with a load of budget 3rd party sellers with average ratings on Amazon and eBay), but Burning Shed also have the set for £90 so I assume they’ve pressed a few more boxes or something.

  9. Rory Gallagher Deuce CD set currently on Amazon, 20% off at £49.92. Though picked the first one up earlier in the year, in one of their sales for under £40, so don’t know if this will eventually come down more as well.

      1. Thanks Kieran,

when reading your message the price on Amazon.uk was already raised again (or not available to non-UK customers) but your helpful remark about the availability of this via burningshed.com made me buy it (and, i must admit, some additional items) from them.

  10. The Guns N’ Roses Use Your Illusion Super Deluxe CD set just dropped 25% on Amazon here in the US to $196.17, which is still way too high, but at least they’ve finally discounted it. No drop on the vinyl deluxe…still $499.

    1. Mine arrived on Monday, so happy that they honoured the £15 price tag, feel really bad for everyone who had their order cancelled.
The pressing of this sounds fantastic, just as good as their previous half speed remasters

  11. For info to US subscribers, I’ve just received an email saying the UDiscover store has 25% off today only for new customers by entering the code UDMUSIC. Hooray!
But as I live in the UK and that code is not recognised on the UK website, it all seems a bit pointless!

    1. You can still use the code from the UK on the US webstore. Only thing to bear in mind is that obviously they charge you international shipping. From memory, this isn’t too bad for a few vinyls but obviously a bit hefty for box sets. There are things on the US site though that aren’t available in the UK. Some old long gone releases are still sitting in their warehouses and new stuff too. For example, GnR Illusion coloured 4 vinyl set is still available on US site (which sold out on UK UDiscover on same day it was announced)

  12. 2CD deluxe version of Garbage’s last album, No Gods No Monster is £9.74 – https://amzn.to/3SM8Kcn

Mansun – Attack Of The Grey Lantern 3CD/DVD is back to £19.99 – https://amzn.to/3CdBZ0B

    Air – 10,000 hz Legends 2CD/BR is £9.74 – https://amzn.to/3EqgRXM

And not a deal but two new deluxe reissues announced yesterday

    Sigur Ros ( ) 20 – 2CD, 3LP versions plus a super expensive box set version

    Longpigs – Extra Longpigs 3LP – expanded reissue of the band’s b-sides and rarities set – https://amzn.to/3RHEU7p

    1. I ordered the Mansun box last time it was that price, and when it arrived it was signed by Paul! Obviously can’t promise they all will be, but it’s a fantastic price for a superb set anyway.

    2. Thanks. I’ve gone for the Mansun. They are band that I’ve never really heard too much in the past, but 3CDs & a DVD is probably a good starting point. Incidentally, it currently says “Only 5 left” so get in quick if you want it..

      1. It’s one of my top 10 albums of all time. I remember the day I bought it (release day 1997, MVC, Shrewsbury – pulled a sickie from school just to go get it when the shop opened at 9am)

        Hope you enjoy.

    3. Guess what? Ordered the Mansun set from Amazon, credit card was charged immediately and literally just received an email advising that the order had been cancelled ‘due to lack of availability’!!! Bearing in mind what has just happened to peeps with the Exorcising Ghosts set, what on earth is Amazon up to???

    4. My Mansun box did turn up today. It was in a box. Box wasn’t damaged but item was. Looked as though somebody had been playing football with it. Damage to top and bottom corners of book package. Discs alright though so I’m tempted to keep it as so cheap but really feels as though Amazon are taking the piss again.

Incidentally, regarding the signature – are you guys looking on the foreword page on right hand side? If so, then I think that is printed in the book – not hand signed.

      1. Sorry to hear that. Mine was signed with a silver colour thick pen and it was clearly not a printed thing. Also the package was in good condition. Maybe you can get a replacement or at least a partial discount

  13. Yep same here, cancelled due to limited availability grrrrrr. What’s the betting they miraculously obtain plenty copies and bang them out for £35 each??? Watch this space!!

  14. Amazon have just cancelled my order of Exorcising Ghosts that was meant to be delivered today due to limited availability.
I ordered it as soon as the deal was posted, has anyone else had theirs cancelled?

    1. Id advise those who ordered the Japan 2LP at the low price to keep an eye on this item on Amazon to see whether it becomes available again. If it does take it up with Customer Services although youll need to be patient because Amazon Customer Services are renowned for their B.S.

    2. Exactly the same has happened to me. I also ordered as soon as it was posted. Same issue for ShaunDB & Gibbon12 it seems (comments below).
Incidentally, this is the second time Amazon have significantly underpriced an LP I pre-ordered, and that one was cancelled too.

          1. There was a wink emoji on my post but that’s not showing. And I think it makes your site more authentic that you’re ordering the same as the rest of us and are able to share our experiences.

  15. Attention Japan fans Amazon just sent me this appears there are not honouring the £15.00 pre ordered Vinyl, and have decided to cancel orders.

    Hello,

As a result of limited availability for the order release of the Exorcising Ghosts [VINYL], we’ve cancelled the item from the following order and you haven’t been charged:

    203-1556416-6909147

We’re sorry for the inconvenience caused.

    Regards,

    Customer Service Department
    Amazon.co.uk

    1. Thanks. After 50 years of enjoying other artists interpretations, this is enough to tempt me into my first ever Bob Dylan purchase. By coincidence, I was only listening to Bryan Ferry’s excellent Dylanesque yesterday and thinking it’s way past time I looked into Dylan himself. So very timely, and I hope it’s a good place to start!

      1. Enjoyable stuff but probably not the finest starting point. I’d recommend The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan, Highway 61 Revisited, Blood On The Tracks, Desire & Time Out Of Mind for an initial overview and then branch out from there. Have fun Bobbing along!

      2. Yes not the best to start with. I would strongly suggest the bootleg series 1-3 which is a marvellous release showcasing what was not released from early 60’s to the end of the 80’s. Strong material for a small price. Enjoy the “Bob” journey.

        1. This looks an awesome collection – picked it up on cd new from Amazon.de for £12 (£30+ in the UK). Also have bought Freewheelin’ and Highway 61 Revisited cds for a £6 total (pre-owned), so my curiosity is about to be thoroughly satisfied!
Just goes to show I don’t have to blow a whole stack of money on expensive box sets to hear iconic music (unless I love them so much I will HAVE to buy them on vinyl)!

      3. Thanks to all. Freewheeling and Highway 61 have been on my list for years but I never took the plunge. I look forward to the 1970 sessions with great interest but realise the albums that cemented his iconic status are the real deal. Thanks again.

    1. I don’t think the picture disc is a half speed master (there wouldn’t be much point, as pic discs are notoriously lower quality than standard black vinyl). I’ve got the black vinyl half speed and it sounds great.

  16. Deep Discount (US) has the 16-CD Chuck Berry box set “Rock & Roll Music – Any Old Way You Choose It” (Bear Family) for $137.

    Other Bear Family titles:
Atomic Platters: Cold War Music (6 CD) $121 Deep Discount, $108 Walmart
The Bakersfield Sound (10 CD) $118 Deep Discount, $101 Walmart
Merle Haggard – Studio Recordings 1968-1976 (6 CD), $71 Deep Discount, $67 Walmart

  17. Few more interesting MOV titles trickling in on the Walmart site:

The Church – Gold Afternoon Fix – $9
Screamin’ Jay Hawkins – At Home – $9
    Golden Earring – Moontan 2LP -$14
^ GE Together was available for a hot minute and appears to be gone gone
    (3) New Musik titles for under $10, doesn’t seem to be my cup of tea but let me know if I’m missing something.

  18. Prince The Hits 2 on white vinyl only $19 on Walmart.com. In the Prince store it is $35. The only two places where you can get the white vinyl. The Hits 1 is on white vinyl through Target and it’s $35 there so nothing to write home about. Same price as in Prince store. Also various Donna Summer colored vinyl all less than $10 on Walmart.com.

  19. Amazon UK have quite a few of the Crimson 3CD Gold sets reduced from £5.99 to £3.99 at the moment. Reduced titles include sets by Ace Of Base, Average White Band, Kiki Dee, Joe Brown, The Dooleys, Bay City Rollers, David Soul, Mungo Jerry, Ralph McTell, Lonnie Donegan, The Nolans, Brotherhood Of Man, John Denver, Shalamar and The Tremeloes.

  20. Sadly the Bowie box comes in at around £100 if you’re in the UK after tax and shipping is added, so not really worth the risk of importing stuff from the US at that cost for me. I believe it’s coming it at about £105 from Amazon FR (€112+€5 shipping) if you’re after something a bit closer.

  21. I see the Revolver box has dropped to £107 on amazon UK, which is interesting as that means anyone who has already ordered it will now get it for this price. So did amazon really over-price this initially or is it not selling so well?

      1. Agreed. All those recently released, badly executed box sets from Beatles, Seal, and Guns N Roses will massively drop in price. Just sit it out and def don’t pre-order. The Guns N Roses box was on a one day sale here in the US yesterday for $205 on popmarket.com. Vinyl also on sale. I saw it too late to post it here but even at that price I wouldn’t want it. It’ll get wayyy lower.

  22. The new Jesus Jones 15 disc box is only $106 on importcds.com. If you are a first timer you will get a 5% discount. If you want the 5% discount anyway, use another email address and you will get the 5%. It’s registered by email so after you use it once, it is no longer valid. After 5% discount it is $101. Shipping is a reasonable $5. Their customer service is not great (in terms of cancelations) but their packaging is great and I never had a problem with them over the past 10 years. They are cheap as hell.

  23. Slim pickings out there currently but there’s a few minor price drops here and there on Amazon UK

    • Joni Mitchell – Asylum Years 1972 – 1975 dropped to £35.57
    • Supergrass – In It For The Money 3CD is £6.17
    • Garbage – Garbage 2CD is £5.71
    • Garbage – Beautiful Garbage 3CD is £9
    • Frank Black’s Black Francis 07-11 9CD is £33.61
    • Associates – Sulk 40th Anniversary LP/3CD is £39.71
    • Rush – Farewell To Kings 3CD is £10.99
    • The Clash – Combat Rock + People’s Hall 3LP is £30.73
    • REM – Automatic For The People 2CD/BR is £28 (still wildly overpriced, this one, but it started out really high)
    • Black Crowes – Shake Your Money Maker 3CD is £11.99
    • Replacements – Sorry Ma Forgot To Take Out The Trash 4CD/LP is £24.99
    • Jethro Tull – A La Mode 3CD/3DVD is £18.99
    • Tina Turner – Foreign Affair 2CD is £3.72
      1. Stupid me, I did…

£28 is pricey for the contents. All previously available, the BR doesn’t contain too much of note. I got the standard 2CD version for £10 ages ago, and that is fine for me.

    1. Thanks for posting but personally I don’t consider $61 a deal. It’s that price in almost all other countries, some a bit less (France) and others a bit higher (Uk, Spain). Amazon USA originally sold this at $100 which is ridiculous. The $61 just pulled it into the same price range as the other countries.

    1. All – just wanted to point out that I’ve seen this described as a 2 CD set and a 6 CD set (as in John’s link above). I don’t know if there are two editions with identical artwork, but I certainly don’t want anyone to get shortchanged. Worth double-checking, will keep you posted as I have one inbound.

      1. Interesting point. The Ebay listing from yesterday from seller “Allyourmusic” clearly stated the 6CD version box, so should be ok or simple request to Ebay to refund if they only send the 2CD version.
The listing from yesterday has now sold out, but the seller now has a new listing which looks initially like yesterday’s listing – similar price – but this is only for the 2CD version – so yes – read carefully before buying

    2. For those in the USA who are interested in this Hawkwind box set, it’s currently $15.71 + $1.99 shipping on Deep Discount or $14.25 with free shipping on Walmart’s website (sold by Deep Discount as a third-party seller).

I’ve found lately that Deep Discount sells various box sets for less on Walmart’s website (again, as a third-party seller), AND always ships them for free there, whereas the box sets are a little more expensive on Deep Discount’s own website and Deep Discount almost always charges for shipping because of the size/bulk of the box sets.

  24. Slight case of underreporting in my last post; here are some things in the DD/WM sale that are a little more SDE-appropriate:

    Gary Crowley 80s V2 4CD – $9
    Hawkwind 6 CD Anthology – $14
    Philadelphia International 9 CD – $28
    Sex Pistols 76-77 6 CD – $14
    Bluetones 6 CD signed – $12
    Undertones 2LP comp – $10

The following appear to be DD only or have better pricing on DD:

    Yes Union 30 Live 4LP+DVD – $31
    Iron Maiden 90-10 3 LP -$17

    Cheers

    1. Thanks, Hugh! It’s so nice to find scores like that from a US seller for a change.

It looks to me like the Hawkwind set is back up to $68 on Walmart, but it’s still at $16 on DD.

      Two other deals on DD:
The Complete Jimmy Giuffre/Jim Hall Trio, 4cds of nicely remastered stone classic cool jazz from 1959, for a mere $6.99.
Discografia Completa by Extremaduro, 12 cds of the Spanish band’s unclassifiable mix of prog/hard/grunge/alt/classic rock — the complete recorded works — for $21.70.
PLUS use promo code DEEP10 for 10% off at checkout.

Also at both Walmart and DD is the 9 cd set of Bill Withers’ Complete Sussex and Columbia Album Masters. Price: at Walmart $8.81, at DD $10.26 before the coupon.

      1. Wowser…good finds, don’t know how that Giuffre set got past me. Snagged a Withers set, which at that price is the equivalent of receiving stolen property.

I can confirm that the DD/WM Hawkwind deal is/was for the 6 CD set. Also note that many of these items have gone out of stock and back again repeatedly. Nada Surf has probably regenerated five times. It’s all the same inventory, they probably just reallocate units between the various platforms as necessary. Worth rechecking.

  25. US readers, get thee to Walmart.com stat and grab a copy of Prefab Sprout’s Jordan: The Comeback 2LP set for a jaw-dropping $8 and change. While you’re at it, there are similar deals for MOV and Demon releases in the same price range: Art of Noise, Chris Rea, Echo & The Bunnymen, etc. These are deepdiscount offerings on the Walmart platform, where they are ironically $4-5 cheaper. Use DD to search, WM to buy. Enjoy!

  26. This John Lennon book Imagine arrived today, it was £9 when I saw it on this feed, thanks to the SDE gang member who put the alert on, it’s a beautiful book, it’s going to my godson at with the double Imagine reissue I also got from a SDE alert, I’m getting quite good at making my own box sets lol, just got to find a nice John Lennon Imagine T shirt in small and I’m done. Also got the Nick Cave 3 cd b sides set, same price as my 2 cappuccinos today, already in my MacBook and bruv will have the box set for keeps, amazing value, Godson has set up a system on his PS5 for playing blu rays, sounds incredible to me but he doesn’t think it’s right yet, he’s taken my ‍ Stage & David Live DVD 5:1 to see if they work on PS5, I won’t be seeing them again lol

  27. Robert Plant and Alison Krauss latest album. The Amazon exclusive UK version (translucent red, double vinyl, 140g, alternative sleeve) is currently down to £15 on Amazon UK. This started out at £39.99 on release. It has been dropping periodically but I think this is the lowest it has been.

  28. I bought Japan’s Exorcising Ghosts LP when it originally came out for something like £3.99, and haven’t played it in the last thirty years. I do remember it as a ‘good’ album, but it clearly hasn’t been played in too long a time. And yet, I recognise a ‘bargain’ and £15 is a modern day good price for the re-issue. Perhaps this will re-ignite a Japan spark in me, but in these circumstances, is there any point buying a remastered version, no matter how good a price it is? I’ve bought plenty of bargains that haven’t made it out of the cling film wrap. This could be another!

On a different deal, I nearly bought the Norah Jones I Dream Of Christmas LP earlier this year when the white version kept on dropping in price on a daily basis. I waited too long and it shot back up in price. The white version is a good price currently at £14.73, but the real deal is the black version which is at £11.51. The cd is a respectable £3.29.

      1. They could have at least included the full Pigs on the Wing with Snowy’s guitar solo connecting the two parts. And something from the 1977 tour would have been great…preferably Montreal. Do the remixing magic so would could perfectly hear Rog spit on a fan and the loogy hit.

        1. Is Snowy’s guitar solo what made the original 8-track version so unique?
I used to play this in my old car and remembered it was different than the LP because of the way the tracks were arranged for the 8-track format.

  29. My Older white vinyl arrived from Amazon on Friday so seems to be some variation on the release dates. Lovely package and high quality sleeve – will give it a spin tonight accompanied by a nice single malt whiskey I think.

        1. Amazon’s error indeed! It’s listed that way at Amazon U.S., as well. I was wondering how they could cram such a long album on two 7″ singles. And on only 3 sides of vinyl!

  30. The Waterboys – Magnificent Seven: Fisherman’s Blues / Room to Roam Band 5CD/DVD basic box is down to £19.99 on Amazon (sold by Amazon rather than a 3rd party this time). Super price.

The Tina Turner Foreign Affair box is also back to £17.99.

    1. This is one where I’d love to get the vinyl box set, as it looks really good. But I think I’m going to settle for the CDs. It looks a bit cheap in comparison, but hey. Amazon have the description as “Hardback book style package” with “3 CDs housed in wallets stitched into spine”, but the picture of it seems to indicate more of a fold-out digipak affair.

    1. Yeah Paul there was a bunch of good ones but some have disappeared in the last 24 hours. Like the Sabbath Super Deluxe boxes that were going for $55. If there’s anymore deals that pop up I’ll be sure to let you know.

  31. As massively disappointed as I was with this release when it was first announced, this feels like a price I can live with. No video content is still befuddling, but hopefully, the packaging and book add to the overall Older experience, which is very near and dear to me.

  32. Perhaps orders are lagging because of the mix of vinyl and CD? Vinyl hipsters won’t want 5 CDs, and digital junkies won’t want 3 records. The label’s decision to “save money” by making only one box may be biting them in the ar$e!

    1. Totally agree. I wasn’t going to pay $200+ for this but did pre-order it yesterday on AMZ US when I saw the price drop. Even at that price it is still too high for what we are getting especially since all of the tracks had been on the CD singles. CD-only and vinyl-only boxes would have been much, much better for all involved.

      1. @Glenn:

I agree, but why did you order it then now?

        Fear of missing out?

    1. @John mc cann:

That must be one of the best deals this year so far. Would buy it if i hadn’t found a third party seller on amazon.de about 2 ½ years ago who sold the German edition for about 15€. They offered it as “Used – Very Good”, but it was still in the original shrink wrap.

Normally i’d have gone for the English Version but this price at the time was too good to let the opportunity pass.

And i assist you in stating that this is a beautiful book which really adds value to the ‘Imagine’-SDE as an accompaniment.

  33. Joe Strummer 002: The Mescaleros Years [Deluxe Boxset) has dropped by £10 the day after release on Amazon UK (£64.99 for pre-orders, £54.43 today!). Still too high imho; three of the four discs are the Mescaleros albums remastered, and great as they are they are probably in many collections already, with only one of the four discs comprised of rarities. Given this, personally I will be hanging on until the price drops further …

  34. Yikes. Glad I got my order in for the latest DM box on amazon, it’s gone up to 189 now. Seems to have disappeared off the mute site which was the other place selling it for about the same price.
