Amazon price-match Kate Bush deals

Amazon UK have responded to HMV’s Kate Bush box set promotion by matching it with their own deal.

When Kate’s reissues and box sets were announced, HMV appeared to get the jump on its UK rival by offering fans all four vinyl box sets for £324.99 – a saving of £34.97.

Although slightly slow off the mark, Amazon UK have now responded and have simply decided to do the same thing. Rather unusually, Amazon are advising any customers who have ordered all four vinyl box sets that they will have to cancel and re-order to get this deal, so if you are in that group, then you’ll need to do just that. Cancel your current pre-order and go to the promotions page and re-order all four, to register the discount. It does look like you have to go via this page – simply adding the four vinyl box sets to your cart doesn’t trigger anything.

The same thing applies to the two CD box sets... Amazon now have a two-for-£139.99 promotion  which saves you 14.99 when compared to buying the two sets separately. Again, this is matching HMV’s promotion exactly.

Half the Kate Bush vinyl and CD boxes are issued on 16 of November with the remainder following two weeks later on the 30 November 2018. Worth reminding international readers that HMV only ships to the UK.

the pricing is very confusing and frustrating

it seems, still, that the Amazon Canada has the best price for all 6 pieces, at $485 USD (including $45 shipping) . . . the total at importcds.com is $598 USD (with the 10% off coupon and free shipping.) even though the CDBox1 is cheaper ($69.45), the CDBox2 is more expensive ($90.15) than amazon canada.

when I placed my order, they said something about a possible labor dispute with Canada Post so I’m going to have to pay attention to that. Grrrr. . .

Derek Langsford

Got a text today mine got shipped today via DHL from Amazon.ca and is heading to California.

Hey fellow Aussies, here is a link to Discrepancy records who have the sets for pre-order at around the A$180 mark (vinyl): https://www.discrepancy-records.com.au/?rf=kw&kw=Kate+bush+remastered

Thanks Daniel . Appreciate this information .

Wayne Klein

Damn it one of the best years for boxed sets just as I was laid off….

bernard smith

What about Australian fans ?

Where can we order ?

U.S. buyers, I managed to get both Cd box sets from importcds.com for a total amount of $128.17, that included shipping. Both sets were cheaper than the Amazon Canada prices.

Just make sure you sign up for their email list. The first offer they sent was $5.00 of total order, the following day they sent an offer for 10% off total order. You must be a first time buyer to receive this offer, or use an alternate email address you haven’t used before..

I’ve never had problems ordering from them.

I am not biting the bullet for the first vinyl box that I want, as although I want it, I’m not desperate due to the lack of anything new. I didn’t think the vinyl of ‘Before the Dawn’ would come down in price, but it did, and I could have saved some twenty pounds. Once bitten and all that.

Whatrecords has these at £74.99 for the box sets, and most of the separate vinyl albums are £14.99.

Geert De Wilde

Still £30-40 too expensive per vinyl box for me. Times 4, that makes it £120-160 too expensive! I recently paid just under £200.00 for the Loving The Alien David Bowie LP box (15 discs – Kate Bush has 17), including much previously unreleased material, and that seems about right to me.

hello, i wrote an email to Amazon France to know if a promotion is also in the works. Here is the answer (it’s in french). I will soon receive an email from Amazon UK, i will tell you later…

Cancelled my Amazon preorder for the CD boxes following Prime letting me down with the late arrival of the Lennon box. Reordered in HMV physical store, but I have to pick up both sets on or after the 30th November. This gives me breathing space as I am gonna see what the reviews are like mastering wise for the first box and if it is negative I will cancel both. I think the only one in the first box that needs remastering is Lion heart and in the second box it is annoying I have to buy BTD again. I already have TWW as well.

Paul Kent

Having to buy BTD again is a bit naughty, really. Anyone in the market for these is not a casual fan and will, undoubtedly, have purchased BTD already. I remember Genesis left space in their 2007 live box set for the recently released Live Over Europe album, so as not to make fans pay twice. La Bush could have done the same here… as well as putting Aerial on one CD this time!

David M

Aerial needs to be on 2 CDs. Two separate albums with completely different themes.

Amazon let me down on the Joe Strummer box set, nearly a week late and also the late delivery of the Bowie box set. I complained to Amazon and they gave me an extra month on Prime.
I cancelled the Kate Bush box set and will pop in to HMV on the 30th Nov to pick up the CD box sets.

Paul Taylor

Makes a change from them marking their prices UP to match HMV!

As usual, Amazon.au haven’t even listed these releases, and the overseas stores won’t ship them to Australia.

Stan Butler

I have a feeling the second CD box will come down in price considerably. Be patient.

Mark Hollis

Hounds of Love defines desert island disc. Monumental recording! I’ll buy it overtime it gets released.

Is before the dawn not on a part of the vinyl boxes??

ronnie osalan

is that a real stuffed bird on the guy’s head? I already hate it

Marcel Rijs

Right, so I have ordered the lot. I noticed that I would receive all the box sets in the first week of December, despite the fact that Part 1 is released two weeks prior to Part 2. Has anyone else noticed this? And how likely is it that I’ll have to wait so long for it all to arrive?

I didn’t expect to get this greedy, but, you know… IT’S KATE BUSH!!!

I just cancelled my previous order for the CD box sets after receiving the e-mail from Amazon advising me to do so, and placed a new order. With the tax removed (since I live outside of the UK), the price came down to exact same number as on my previous order: 132 pounds. I fail to see where the supposed discount factors in…

I know what you mean.

I, too, am outside the UK, and did the same, cancelling and placing a new order, through the campaign page, ending up with 134.22 pounds, a saving of 4.16 on my previous one. I’m not complaining about saving anything, but it’s not the discount they talked about.

John in Manhattan

I’m in the States and am more than a bit confused re: pricing. It appears that Amazon Canada is the least expensive option by far. Why would anyone order from Amazon UK even with the “deal”?

Derek Langsford

I am watching them on both and so far the Amazon.ca is £23.85 cheaper (equivalent to $CAN 40.79, $US 31.35).

Amazon.ca says the label is Parlophone UK whereas Amazon UK says it is PLG UK Catalog i.e. Parlophone Label Group (now owned by Warner’s) whereas the Amazon US say Rhino Records.

Dare we assume that the UK set will be sold in Canada and from Amazon.ca?

andrew R

Every time i try to order anything from amazon.ca (i am uk based)
either it won’t ship or the import duties and shipping negate the saving
thats probably why

Derek Langsford

I am in the USA and have never had to pay any import duties on music sets from Amazon UK or de. Guess we are lucky in that regard, but I have never ordered from Amazon.ca before.

John in Manhattan

I’ve ordered from Amazon Canada before with no problem. No duties, etc. My issue is that the prices seems to be all over the place.

For example, as of 10/16/2018, the VINYL BOX 3 – AERIAL, 50 WORDS FOR SNOW, DIRECTOR’S CUT is listed on Amazon Canada for 58.85 GBP/77.31 uSD/66.80 EUR while on Amazon USA its listed for 102.66 GBP/134.87 USD/116.53 EUR. That’s a HUGE price difference of 43.81 GBP/57.56 USD/49.73 EUR for this box alone. Naturally, I’ve ordered all these sets from Amazon Canada but I can’t help but wonder if I’m making a mistake? Amazon Canada is offering all these titles at drastically lower prices than the “other Amazons”. Even with shipping fees and duties, I still see a significant savings by ordering from Amazon Canada. Am I missing something?

Looks like this is limited to one of each bundle per customer too – I got the following message “We’re sorry. This item has a limited purchase quantity. We have changed your purchase quantity to the maximum allowable.”

Richard Orchard

GReat – thanks for letting us all know.

I’ve noticed the price for one vinyl box set is £89 in the UK and €89 in France. As £1 = €1.14, it should be €101. When you did for your first post about Kate Bush 10 days ago, the price was €99 on Amazon France so it seems the price dropped already. And the price is still €102 on Amazon Germany.

Although there’s no discount on Amazon FR if you buy all 4 box sets, they are cheaper in the end in France : €356/£313 (vs €368/£324 in the UK).

yowza yowza!
stop the press!
that’s a massive £8 saving per vinyl box set.
snap it up quick kids, cos they’re gonna be going fast!

Darren Linklater

Amazon are good at doing this. HMV lead the way often with cheaper product them Amazon price match. Don’t always assume Amazon are cheap though. I was looking at a John Mellencamp DVD/CD last week, £22 on Amazon but £15 in HMV on Saturday.

The prime service let me down a couple of times recently and I was expecting to have a new release on release day but was kept waiting over the weekend.

I am thinking of cancelling my WA50 order and picking it up from my local HMV on release day due to this.

Support your brick and mortar shop if you can. It is often cheaper than Amazon.

Definitely try to support HMV over Amazon. If we don’t, there will simply be no major high street record shops. Remember they have a reward scheme as well so you will get quite a lot of points for your Kate Bush purchases.

Savings automatically applied to order to USA by Amazon. Just checked.

Just ordered overseas but no discount so I will cancel it. Probably only valid for UK orders.

Auntie Sabrina

Given Amazon have a pre-order price guarantee, it’s a shame they just don’t automatically apply the savings.

BTW, if you buy both CD boxsets you save £14.99, both for £139.99, you might have to re-order these too then?
