Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris / ‘Trio’ 3CD box set

unnamed (4)

Rhino will release The Complete Trio Collection, a three-CD box set featuring both ‘Trio’ albums from Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt, and Emmylou Harris and a wealth of bonus material.

Trio (1987) and Trio II (1999) have been newly remastered and a further 20 tracks of rarities are included in the bonus CD, including alternate takes and 11 completely unreleased recordings, spanning both album sessions.

If all that’s too much to handle, on the same date, a single-CD set will also be available called My Dear Companion: Selections From The Trio Collection, featuring a mix of songs from the three-disc box.

And, if that isn’t enough in terms of purchasing options, Rhino are also issuing Farther Along, a two-LP set that features JUST the bonus material in the box (Trio II will also be released on vinyl for the first time).

The Complete Trio Collection and other editions will be issued on 9 September 2016.

I knew a lot of this stuff existed. To finally get hold of it is a bonus. Must buy for me!

Any hint on what kind of packaging they will use?

Larry Davis

Just got it Friday…and the packaging is just lovely…it’s a trifold digipack…disc one’s pocket opens to the left…trio 2′ pocket thwn opens to the right and farther along (disc 3) then unfolds up…there is then a middle double-spaced pocket the nice booklet slides under…with optional cutout paperdolls of all 3 ladies in trio…really closest thing we had to a female traveling wilburys if you ask me. but nothing mentioned of Western wall…the post-trio collaboration between emmylou and Linda…

Brilliant timing, I was only pondering whether or not to get Trio at the weekend. I’ll definitely get this set instead when it comes out!

CJ Feeney

Oops – got that wrong, the trio on “Bringing it all back home” was different – Only Emmylou in both line-ups.

CJ Feeney

The trio contributed two songs to the BBC series and album “Bringing it all Back Home”
Grey Funnel Line is here, but Sonny is missing.

I love this! From what I understand there is still a lot of bonus material out there – so hopefully there will be more that comes out down the line.

how cool is this?…if you like this kind of music, this is a great offering…these three ladies are giants in the industry…it is especially fabulous, but a little bittersweet now that Linda Ronstadt is not singing anymore.
