Hans Zimmer / Live in Prague

Live ‘hits’ set on 4LP vinyl, 2CD and blu-ray or DVD

This November, Eagle Rock will issue Live In Prague, a Hans Zimmer live performance across video and audio formats.

The concert dates from May 2016 when the prolific and successful film composer was in the middle of a European tour. The setlist is basically a ‘greatest hits’ with cues and music from films such as Gladiator, Interstellar, The Da Vinci Code, Pirates Of The Caribbean, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Inception, Rain Man, True Romance and more.

Zimmer was accompanied on stage by no less than 72 musicians, including guitarist Johnny Marr and a spectacular light show kept the audience fully entertained.

The audio is issued on 2CD and 4LP vinyl, while the concert film (which gets a ‘one day only’ theatrical release in October) is issued on DVD and blu-ray.

Live In Prague is released on 3 November 2017.

I managed to see the show in Toronto at the beginning of the month. The program has ‘Czarina Russel’ as a vocalist and notes that she met him at age 4. I believe she was the one doing the ethereal vocals in a few of the songs (and confirmed as can be via the setlist site).

I suspect that a lot of the program was based on the 2016 tour with edits for the 2017 dates, especially since the program setlist was “subject to change”.

Cheers! Thanks for the info Simon and Trent.

David, she wasn’t a guest on either of the two London shows I saw and I don’t remember seeing her billed as a guest during the rest of the tour so I’d say it’s unlikely. Both shows I saw had an excellent replacement whose name sadly escapes me. Zimmer said he’d known her since she was a child.

Hi Paul,

Any idea if Dead Can Dance’s Lisa Gerrard was one of the special guests?

She’s worked with Zimmer a few times, most spectacularly on the Gladiator tracks and I’m pretty sure they’ve occasionally appeared together on stage in the past.

Love your work!

So this is finally seeing the light of day having been talked about on the Hans Zimmer live forum for more than a year. I saw this show in London early last year and loved it – Johnny Marr guested on the second half.
I saw it again in London a few months ago and was disappointed it was pretty much an identical set list despite the 12-18 month gap – although Trevor Horn did appear on stage for Video Killed the Radio Star!
It was the night after the Grenfell Tower fire and Zimmer donated all the proceeds from the show to the appeal.
This time Marr’s son was performing guitar throughout. For me, it didn’t carry the same impact as it lacked the element of surprise or of being new, but was still pretty enjoyable. Unlike Eric, above, I actually thought it suffered slightly from being too loud. I know they’re very different styles, but I’ve seen Ennio Morricone and his orchestra twice in the last couple of years and it felt like the music had more room to breathe as they weren’t so concerned with the overall volume.
I’ll be buying it though and look forward to it.

I saw this show in Melbourne. So loud, but if you looked at one of the many instruments, you could hear it quite clearly. Amazing light show, too.

Wish this was the 2017 Show with Wonder Woman and a few other changes…

Wasn’t there supposed to be a ‘deluxe’ edition as well…?

Paul, this was the 2016 concert, so no Wonder Woman.

There was supposed to be a “deluxe edition” as you said… we are still waiting for details.
