Robert Forster / Danger In The Past and Calling From A Country Phone reissued CD, Vinyl

Matthew Sweet and Susannah Hoffs / The Best of Under The Covers CD, Vinyl
Matthew Sweet and Susannah Hoffs‘ Under The Covers albums were issued between 2006 and 2013 in three volumes and saw the pair reinterpret their favourite songs from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s respectively. They are a hell of a lot of fun and now ‘the best’ of all three are gathered together for a new double-disc collection.

The Alan Parsons Project‘s 1984 album Ammonia Avenue is reissued as a six-disc super deluxe edition box set.

Bros / Gold CD, Vinyl
Demon Music continue with their popular Gold series with a new Bros compilation, available as a cheap-as-chips three-CD set or gold-coloured vinyl LP.

Peter Green / The End Of The Game (black vinyl)
Peter Green‘s rather weird 1970 album is experimental, hallucinatory and was edited down from a long jam session. It’s all instrumentals.

Paul, got my TFF “Hurting” and “Big Chair” Super Deluxe sets yesterday. Thanks! I want to commend you on the essay in the Hurting booklet (haven’t opened Big Chair yet). Probably the best deluxe edition essay on any album that I’ve read (and I have read quite a few!).
Hi Shawn. Thank you very much. You are the first person to even mention my notes for The Hurting, never mind praise them! You’ve cheered me right up. Thanks again!
Got my Bowie “Is It Any Wonder?” ep today. Rhino delivered (literally and figuratively)!
I also got the Bowie “Is it any wonder?” today. I’ll give it a spin tonight after work, i.e. moving from the kitchen into my living room :-)
Is it an EP? A mini-LP? I don’t know. As I don’t like Tin Machine, it will be interesting to see if those songs have improved. Reeves Gabrels is still in the band though, so maybe not much hope.
Will write a short review on Onelouder when I get the time.
The Orb have a new album out this Friday, hopefully it won’t be delayed, but will understand if it is.
I ordered Re-flex boxset, I had intention to order it from their website in the past but always stopped by price + shipping cost to Italy combination, I also have some doubts that order will be honoured, we’ll see….
Just had an email from Zoom cancelling my Marillion Script box set as the warehouse is in France
Received the Marillion ‘Script’ (with signed print) yesterday from Marillion Racket Records. Not meant as a one upmanship comment, just informing that they are being shipped from the Marillion website.
I got the same message. I tried Marillion’s site but it’s out of stock so preordered it from amazon but not holding much hope of getting it anytime soon.
Just got an email from the Nick Mason store. The Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets Live at the Roundhouse release has been pushed back 5 months to 17th September. Not that Music Glue who operate the store will be too bothered. They already have their money from any existing pre orders.
Speaking as someone with cardiac and respiratory ‘underlying health conditions’ (amongst others) I’m very sorry for your loss – they should have gone ahead with the release, force the workers to the factories, spread as much virus as possible! Less sarcastically, I’m less concerned with MusicGlue having a few of my quid and the delay – I just hope I (and my 80 year old Dad) make it to the 17th September – especially considering some (a lot!) of the selfish behaviour displayed by the ‘Great’ British Public (and the likes of Tony ‘f**k coronavirus’ Visconti).
Perhaps you should also bear in mind that Mason himself is now 76 years old, therefore in the ‘at risk’ group…
This respond is way out of proportion. I didn’t see Alan saying he had a problem with the delay, just a reference to the vendor holding on to the money. The situation we are all in is terrible and unprecedented but people are allowed to ‘forget’ about it to a certain extent while talking about music releases on SDE and shouldn’t be made to feel guilty about commenting on something relatively trivial (like a release date, or how a box set is packaged or the colour of the limited edition vinyl) just because other things are going on in the world. Saying you care about one thing doesn’t mean you don’t care about another.
Totally agree, we need other stuff to think about or we’ll go nuts!
Sufjan Stevens + Lowell Brams – “Aporia.” (Actually being released Tuesday instead of Friday.)
Father John Misty – “Off-Key in Hamburg” (live)… Bandcamp download only…

Really hope my Robert Forster albums arrive this week. Spent the last 7 days in isolation with this feckin’ virus and the thought of having 2 of my favourite albums on vinyl was a lift to my spirits.
To think that when I ordered them my main worry was would there be someone home to sign for them…
GTR – We’ve been informed by Townsend that they are definitely shipping. Where are you?
Hiya Will, thanks for replying. I’m in Blackwood in sunny south Wales.
Keep up the great work!
GTR – I think you’ll be fine, hope you like them
Just received an email from Needle Mythology to say the Robert Forster albums have been dispatched.
Yay!
Hey Will, they arrived this morning. Wow…they look superb. The signed lyric sheets are a joy.
Great job, thanks very much! Best wishes to you and all at Needlemythology.
Also due on Friday, the new Pearl Jam & a Shoes 4cd set.
Re-flex 6CD compilation/box Re-Fuse is listed as coming out Friday. Nice price too at £17.47 on Amazon UK https://amzn.to/2UudjuW
LowPop – seeing Re-Fuse reissued has cheered me up. Thank you!
I will only believe this price when i see it actually in stock. Their website is still selling it for £50.
Oh, thank you for that! Ordered. I love Re-Flex and this seems to be a very good price. This was being sold for 4o quid on the artists own website. I wonder if it’s the same edition or a clamshell version of the Re-Fuse box? Does anyone know?
As i mentioned above it’s £50 they are selling it for with £4 postage.
I do hope that Demon will do a Dead Or Alive Gold package. One disc of all the hits and two of extended mixes, remixes etc would make perfect in car listening (not that I’m doing a lot of driving now….)
I believe APP is pushed to 10 April…
I’ve had orders in for months for the Donna Summer, Philip Pullman, and the Alan Parsons blu-ray (just the blu-ray – waiting for a deal on the SDE, Paul :)
Frankly, I’ll be happy if ANY of them rock up this week, given the circumstances…..
