PICTURE: Elvis / Young Man with the Big Beat repackaged set

youngman

Sony/Legacy always do a sterling job with their repackaged ‘booksets’ and this newly reformatted edition of the 2011 Elvis set Young Man with the Big Beat looks to be no exception.

Discs one and two are expanded versions of the first two albums, while the third disc features three live concerts from 1956 with audio newly remastered by Vic Anesini. The fourth CD features mainly outtakes and the final disc has some fascinating interviews with the Young Elvis, politely dealing with different styles of interviewees!

This is released on 15 September and can be bought for less than £20 which seems like a great deal. The review for the original set can be found here.

[…] ‘bookset’ style reissue, which will be consistent with some of the previous reissues (Young Man With The Big Beat). The price will probably drop below £20 by the time this comes […]

I wonder if the book in this will be identical to the box set version (i.e. exact same contents) or just a pared down version for the lower price.

I should say that my above comment should start “how” rather than “why”!!

Great looking set!

Why is it that Sony produce the best looking, best value, best quality and oh-so-easy to store ‘deluxe’ versions?

I love these over-produced sets but how much cheaper and easier would it be if, say, the Paul McCartney deluxe versions were all like this, and like the 4 disc version of ‘Good Evening New York’ album?

Hopefully, Sony will start reissuing ‘classic’ albums like this – e.g. “Thriller” or “Blonde on Blonde”. Good value, great packaging and easy to store – yes please!

As for this set, what Elvis fan could ask for more? Maybe part 2 of teh 1960s set “Command Performances”.. :-)
