Roger Waters / new studio album, ‘Is This The Life We Really Want?’

Roger Waters‘ first new studio album in almost a quarter of a century will be called Is This The Life We Really Want? and will be released in May. Check out the teaser/trailer below to see some in-the-studio footage and hear some of the new music.

As yet, no artwork has been released and there are no pre-orders available, but SDE will of course bring you the latest on this when there is news.

Water’s last studio album, 1992’s Amused to Death was reissued in 2015 on double vinyl and as a CD + blu-ray edition which featured a 5.1 surround sound mix.

Is Roger Waters going to perform a “Is this the life we really want” live dvd?

[…] new album is brilliant, but here’s an opportunity to look back at Roger Waters’ first solo […]

Sounds like Pink Waters

I saw Roger at Desert Trip. I am expecting the lp and tour to be something special

Does anyone know anything about musicians on the album? Any guitar heroes?

Why do people not treat him like when Michael Jackson released “Invincible” when that was his first studio l.p. in six years at that point calling him a “has been”?

Looking forward to this one,and hopefully some UK/Euro shows to go with it.

Great news!

Hey Rasputin, don’t forget the special Japanese CD with an extra track. Mr. Waters needs more money for his toy, the BDS

@ Rasputin
Dont forget the Super Hyper Deluxe Edition signed by whoever ;-p

See item №8.
This time, Roger Waters does not sign Jimmy Smith. Maybe sign Polly Samson?

By the way, from the third blue-ray disk in the network was only the first part – Genuine Love / The Story Of Roger Waters The Wall Live
The second and third parts, The Simple Facts & Os Gemeos Mural Time Lapse, were not.

This’ll certainly cheer up any drizzly Sunday.

Well it’s not far away we will have to wait and see, with his previous Amused, i would imagine there will be a number of formats and perhaps his last studio album at the age of 75, i am sure & hopeful once the new album is due, a couple of weeks before it’s official release there will be some “More” samples.

I read somewhere this will have a loose conceptual feel as many of Waters’ solo output has. Seems to concern a chap who is babysitting who goes on a journey as to why so many children are still being killed/wounded in wars etc. We’ve been missing a slice of belligerent conceptual-ness for some time!!

Very excited to hear this album and see the new show!
Would love to hear him perform the full album live!

25 years since his last studio album this could be his swansong then looking forward to getting the cd and vinyl if not too pricey. there is bound to be a live album soon with the current tour as well.

Well, first of all, the next concern …
How many formats will be released at this time?

1 – CD
2 – CD + DVD
3 – CD + BD
4 – Vinyl
5 – Picture vinyl
6 – SACD
7 – Box set
8 – Super Box set limited edition

Little or a lot?

Don’t forget “Super box set limited edition signed by Roger’s milkman”… ;)

I do not know how you, but I bought a very rare copy Inside Out – unsigned.

Are unsigned Albums now the rare ones? :)

And the Cassette as well as the 8-track. :)

Actually I wouldn’t mind a cassette release. With Dolby B on chromdioxid tape please, none of your cheap rubbish like the rest of them do.

You forgot CDs, DVDS and BR combined with the LP version. Maybe throw in a deluxe LP version as well. Or maybe a bonus 7″ single.

Lovely. I can’t wait. Sure to be my party soundtrack for the summer.

And those teasers are fantastic! Classic early-1970s Floyd style. Hopefully that’s not just an “I’m the real Pink” dig at the others but an acknowledgement that we love the man for a good reason. Looking forward to some ace Trump samples too…
