Spencer Davis Group / Taking Out Time: Complete Recordings 1967-1969
Comprehensive anthology of post-Winwood years
Taking Out Time is a new three-CD set that collects of all the recordings made by The Spencer Davis Group during their post-Winwood era, 1967-1969.
This collection includes various singles, recordings used in the film soundtrack Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush, the album With Their New Face On, outtakes, previously unreleased BBC sessions and the theme to UK TV show Magpie!
The three discs come in a clamshell box set which includes a booklet with notes from Andy Neill, lots of rare photos, and input from original members Ray Fenwick, Pete York and Spencer Davis.

Maybe the liner notes will finally reveal who played the outstanding jazzy piano on Alec in Transitland.
AlexKx, I believe Winwood was with the group from 1963 to ’67 — but he doesn’t appear on this material.
Played by Kirk Duncan who was working for spencer davis management at the time and was acting as their. Musical director of sorts
Thanks for the info, Paul. How do you know? Disappointingly, I don’t see anything in the booklet about this.
Any hint what year and or years Steve Winwood was in the group? Was it more than one and a half?
Prices in Euro have already risen by 10% or so thanks to the brexiteers. Stupid gits.
Is this the period when Dee Murray and Nigel Olsson were in the line up?
p.s. I’d really appreciate an overview feature for UK purchasers about buying music from Europe now that the vote to leave the EU has taken place. I’m sure that prices will inevitably rise. Best wishes, Ben
Not the first time a lot of these have been reissued on CD , but certainly this is the most compact and attractive package of this material all in one place. I love those little clam shell boxes. Thier post-Winwood music is excellent and I’ll be getting this for sure.
