Sting‘s 2016 album 57th & 9th has just been issued as a special Japan Tour Edition which offers six bonus tracks over and above the standard deluxe edition.

Specifically, fans get the six tracks from the vinyl EP Live at the Bataclan, which was released for Record Store Day this year. As things currently stand, this is the only place to enjoy those tracks (which include the classics Englishman in New York, Fragile, Message In A Bottle and Every Breath You Take) on CD.

These live bonus tracks were recorded at Sting’s concert at the Bataclan theatre in Paris on 12 November 2016. The performance that night commemorated the one year anniversary of the terrorist attack at the iconic venue.

This release is on the Japanese SHM-CD format (compatible with all standard CD players) and includes outer slipcase, OBI-strip, and two booklets, one of which has lyrics in Japanese and English.

The 57th & 9th Japan Tour Edition is out now. You can order direct from CD Japan, or use the links below.

This does look good and I’ll certainly buy this!

I hope Sting’s new live album gets a CD release as it is currently only available as a pre-order on vinyl – but it also has a digital download.

Maybe people do this to get you to buy the vinyl first.

the Sting 2cd is an unofficial russian release, is available on discogs for 8 euros, I discovered it yesterday, they do the same with other artist (….depeche mode spirit + live cd)

Paul there is a European 2 disc version of this with the 2nd disc being the (almost) complete Bataclan show. It’s missing the final song Empty Chair, otherwise you have the nearly complete show in excellent sound. Just received mine and the sound is great. Bought it from a NYC based sell off of ebay.

I didn’t even think that route. Packaging and sound etc. are as official looking as I’d expect. Thanks for the tip. Will review.

Definitely unofficial but it looks and sounds 100% real. Silver disc with logo and engraving, record company logo’s on the back, nothing flimsy about it. If it wasn’t for Discogs you would never know. Best unofficial CD I’ve ever seen. Bought a whole bunch (Adele 25 2cd, Red Hot Chili Peppers the Getaway 2cd, Rihanna Anti 2cd). Great value and some rare tracks too.

I bought the Russian version of this cd for a few dollars with the complete live session from Bataclan as a bonus cd (17 tracks on the bonus CD versus 7 on this Japanese version). Much cheaper, better value and excellent sound quality.

Bootleg eh-let’s not go there! Artist make nothing!

Again, big price differences, what’s going on with this I wonder…

Well this appears to be a better deal than the original deluxe Cd/DVD I held off on buying. So I may snag this one with all my CDJapan points.

Ya. Wasn’t much of a “deluxe” editions if you threw in a couple of live tracks or a DVD with not much on it [but still better than Elton john/Leon Russell deluxe to Union which contained just a 7 minute DVD as an extra].
