The Essential Elvis Presley / 2LP vinyl

This was actually released back in November in the US… and recently in some European locations, but in UK in July Sony will issue their 2007 Essential Elvis Presley compilation as a two-LP vinyl package.

Twenty-eight tracks feature across the four sides of vinyl “remastered from the original sources”. This set has a selection of hits spanning his entire career with the Sun and RCA labels and kicks off with That’s All Right and calls time with Burning Love.

The Essential Elvis Presley will be released on 8 July 2016 and a similar Johnny Cash set will be issued on the same day.

None of the The Essential sleeves deserve to be blown up. It’s that ugly font.

As Above – The Arcade 40 Greatest release was the first piece of vinyl I ever remember playing aged about 10, Sides 3 and 4 were immaculate. That would be a great re-issue. A “New” compilation seems a bit pointless…..

I like some of these “Essential” compilations. Hopefully they do the Leonard Cohen one.
