SDEtv / Joan As Police Woman unboxes JOANTHOLOGY for SDE

Joan As Police Woman is currently on tour in the UK and last week popped in to SDE for a chat. The full interview is coming soon… but in the meantime, here’s video of Joan taking us through her new physical releases –  the JOANTHOLOGY three-CD set and the Live at the BBC limited edition coloured vinyl.

You can purchase both the limited edition ‘sky blue’ vinyl of Live at the BBC and the three-CD JOANTHOLOGY set (which includes Live at the BBC) at the SDE shop. Joan plays Exeter tonight and tours the UK and Ireland for two more weeks. Check dates here.

I saw Joan on Saturday night in the intimate setting of Hall 2 at The Sage. She was sublime – it helps when you’ve got a Steinway grand piano to play; even still, it must be quite daunting to play without nerves when performing solo. I hadn’t seen her live in a few years, but her performance seemed better than ever.

Afterwards she showed her usual class in signing records and conversing with all who wanted to. If you’re in Leeds or Manchester this week, I’d recommend going to see her.

Tell me, did you mentally scream at her putting fingers all over the vinyl? I know I did.

I keep meaning to ask, what’s the music you use for most of your videos intros / outros..? It sounds so familiar and I am irritated I can’t place it!

Tom

Nice pizza oven!

Mark

Joan seems super-nice. Great stuff Paul, love these intimate interview videos.

Bought the cd. So very bored by disc 2. Bit like watching Glasto… how many average bands playing such average songs. Jeez i used to love new music with such passion when i was young, now it’s just discovering all the music i missed (born in 71 and most of my collection now is from 67 to 77). Off to Really Good Records in Plymouth tomorrow and looking for Sergio Mendez and Sergio Leone. Don’t ask why and don’t criticise as I’m a bit pissed :)

That reminds me Paul, thanks for keeping & including the hype sticker from the front of the St Etienne So Tough box set, a nice little touch.

Nice. But why do Popstars always handle a Vinyl Lp like they have never had a Vinyl disc in their hands before….?

Pádraig Collins

I was wondering the same thing! I was imagining Paul thinking “please don’t leave paw prints on my record – even if it is your music”.

Meadowmeal

Limited edition, thumbed by the artist :)
