I realize this is an unboxing video, and that board game can be rather distracting… but aren’t we supposed to talk about music… somehow… sometimes…?
So: the vinyl pressing is fine, superquiet and totally silent, while the sound… I’m not impressed to tell the truth. All the “half speed remastering for enhanced dynamics” hype – doesn’t really come through in my opinion. A bit flat and lifeless. I compared it to my 1981 German Arista cd, and that one is still much more lively and dynamic. I find it odd that the “Credits” page in the book quotes every single photographer and artwork editor, but not a word is said about the remastering, or who did it or where he did it.
Not a good sign imo.
That’s my main issue with the set, I’m much less worried about the “horrible” paper inner sleeves, never had a problem with them really, I know by now how to put a record in a sleeve without scratching it… Actually, I always wondered how do people manage to scratch records by sliding them in a paper sleeve, it’s always been a bit of a mystery to me!… ;)

Any chance there’ll be a CD version of the full box?

It was early 1981 when i bought my first Stray Cats record. It was Runaway Boys single. I still have the 3 first singles and LP’s in original pressings. After that i have bought about 30 cd/dvd and bluray’s of Stray Cats, Brian Setzer Orchestra and Brian’s Setzer. About two months ago i bought the latest Stray Cats cd 40. This new box is a must buy for me. I’m 3 months and 19 days older than Brian!

interesting…..i remember seeing them in Philadelphia, in maybe early 1981 or so, whilst going to art school, and man, there was NO ONE at the time that sounded like them, tons of energy, just great fun live…….AND i had seen Brians previous band, NYC’s Bloodless Pharaohs, the year before at the same small club and was kind of…confused!!!!

I want that game I need that game

Really fancy this only for the fact I have always had a sort of guilty pleasure cum sneaky regard for the Cats. Picked up their latest album recently which is great and a good listen. Bit pricey for me at minute – hoping for a deal later maybe
