As I understand it, the Beatles left almost ten hours of film unused. I really hoped that Apple would be able to use some of that footage to perhaps help make the film make a little less “choppy”. Perhaps none of it exists any longer? If it does exist, unless it’s simply execrable, why hasn’t any of it been released and why not this time…though I have heard this version of MMT might contain a minute or two of additional footage.
As long as McCartney lives Let it Be will never come out. Just my opinion, but that film shows him in a less than favourable light. He can’t tweak it like he did with album, so it’ll stay on the shelf until the day he dies. As for Magical Mystery Tour, I’ve always liked it. If you view it as one long music video it’s no way near as tortuous to sit through. Plus, it inspired Spielberg to become a director – make of that what you will!
I’d rather have Let It Be.
does it make me a bad person to pose the question “i wonder if the scene with the stripper will be uncensored in this release?”
It does make you a bad person, but I think you’ll be happy because it gets a ’12’ rating this time according to the BBFC – “Contains brief sexualised nudity” :)
If this movie wasn’t made by The Beatles this hippie-rubbish would never see the light of day on DVD or Blu-ray in 2012. I would much rather have some live concerts given a proper release, or the Let It Be movie, as other comment also mention. However I don’t think it will be released as long as McCartney is running things. I think it puts him in a rather bad light…
I wonder if there will be 5.1 remixed audio. Oh wait that would cost money so probably not.
This is not yet official and has been taken off of other stories. I had the first stories last week.

Yes, not yet official, but clearly going to happen. The BFI in London are screening it a week before it comes out and as you note in your piece amazon.com have a listing up.
Oh come on just put Let It Be out already would you? Stop faffing about with lesser films. Source it out to Criterion who could put together a lavish set.
Oh boy, I remember plonking down in front of the B&W on Boxing Day 1967 and being presented with something really awful. I have seen it a few times since then (everybody back on the bus) and it is still painfully bad.
Is the promo of Hello Goodbye any different to the Anthology ?
Haven’t seen it yet, but I’m assuming it is the same as anthology.
Even for a hardcore Beatles fan this is a movie that’s really hard to sit through. Hopefully now that they are doing this that might mean that the documentary “Let It Be” might be next.
