RSD15 Preview / Demon Music: Belinda Carlisle, Suede & Ian Dury
More Record Store Day goodies on show today, as SDE checks out what Demon Music have in store for those queuing early on 18 April for some limited edition vinyl. The label have a great range of items to suit most tastes and budgets including (pictured below) Suede, Ian Dury, Belinda Carlisle and The Beat.
Belinda Carlisle‘s second album Heaven on Earth is issued as a rather spiffing picture disc (1000 copies only), with the cover image pin-sharp, while Ian Dury‘s timeless New Boots and Panties!! is brilliant, offering a gatefold sleeve, two coloured vinyl records (one containing all the demos) and best of all a ‘pop up’ Dury and his little mate when you open the sleeve. This is limited to 1500 copies.
Another double vinyl gatefold is Suede‘s Dog Man Star. Not the studio recording but the whole album in sequence as played live at last years Royal Albert Hall Teenage Cancer Trust gig. Again 1500 copies only.
Record Store Day isn’t Record Store Day without at least one seven-inch box set and Demon duly oblige with The Beat Seven Inch Singles Collection. 13 (count ’em) seven inch singles in this set and you even get a 16-page booklet thrown in for good measure.
This is just a taster. There’s also a Jesus and Mary Chain red vinyl, Simple Minds clear vinyl, T. Rex picture disc and more.
Good luck on Saturday, for those getting up early for some record buying!

these Ian Dury & the Beat releases foundable in France too the same day as well ?
Was Belinda really huge in Europe or something? I’m not knocking her, I’m just shocked that there would be such a clamor for picture disc vinyl editions of two of her albums.
Definitely going to try and snag The Beat 7″ box, that looks really nice. I actually have three of their singles on 45 from back in the day still. Man I’m getting old.
that beat 7 inch box looks like a nice piece of kit, to go with the lp box. grand band and Sting agrees with me so I must be right.
Paul, isn`t Ian Dury`s “little mate” his son Baxter?
Haha, ah yes, that’s true. I forgot about that :)
I queued up for four hours in the freezing London weather last year only to find that a lot of the things I wanted were sold out pretty much instantly and then appeared on eBay straight away.
I did manage to get a copy of Metamatic on white vinyl (but even that was available on Amazon shortly afterwards).
So the verdict for me was I won’t bother this year… (I did meet to some nice fellow vinyl enthusiasts in the queue though).
I want that Belinda album!!!
I need a turntable first :(
