Record Store Day Competition

As promised last weekend, SDE is giving away some Record Store Day product from the 2015 releases. I’ve actually changed the originally plan which was to giveaway a different item every day, to simply offering up 10 different releases all at once (less work!)

Anyway, the items are as follows:

  • • Simple Minds / Waterfront 7″ picture disc
  • • Small Faces / The French EPs 7″ box
  • • Belinda Carlisle  / Heaven on Earth picture disc
  • • Ryan Adams / Come Pick Me Up (alternate take) 7″ single
  • • Georgie Fame / Soul EP
  • • Siouxsie & the Banshees / Join Hands gatefold vinyl LP
  • • Dusty Springfield / What’s It Gonna Be 7″ single
  • • OMD / Julia’s Song (Dub Version) 10″ single
  • • The Darjeeling Limited / Soundtrack album on green vinyl
  • • Sly and the Family Stone / Live at the Fillmore East 2LP coloured vinyl

That’s a great selection, I think you’ll agree!

  1. Sly and The Family Stone, please! Nice cover, great music, the whole package! Thanx
PS: now that’s what I call a great site!

  2. I’d like to put the needle on Sly&the family stone’s Fillmore east classic concert. I guess a ranking of wishes on these giveaway records could be interesting…

  3. I would love to win OMD Julia’s song (Dub version) 10″ single, because I love 10″ singles, although my old Bang & Olufsen record player don’t recognise the format.

  4. It Would Be Heaven On Earth to win the Belinda Carlisle Picture Disc. Was not available here in NYC to purchase on RSD. I want this item so badly!!!

  5. Hi there, I’d like to get all the beautiful bunch of records, but if I can’t, I’d like to receive the Darjeeling limited soundtrack green vinyl LP.

    Thanks a lot in advance.

    Best wishes

    f

  6. Which store did you shop in to get this lot? I covered four stores and only managed a fraction of these treasures! DUSTY would be divine :)

  7. Wow! Took me nearly longer to scroll this far down than it did to queue on RSD to get nothing! :( ;) so fingers crossed for OMD’s Julia please… :)

  8. I would like the Siouxsie and the Banshees JOIN HANDS.

I think I cannot subscribe the newsletter because I am already a subscriber (although the page does not have that option).

    Cheers

    Steg

  9. The Sly and the Family Stone live set looks great and would certainly sit nicely on the shelf alongside last year’s ‘Higher’ best of set.

  10. ‘What does she look like?”, my Dad said as Dusty sang on her TV show.
Well, I fell in love with her then, and nothing has changed.

  11. That Siouxsie & the Banshees RSD exclusive would make a nice companion to the Cocteau Twins Blue Bell Knoll remaster I picked up last month. My vinyl collection is starting to really grow.

  12. That Small Faces EP set is really handsome. The graphic designer in me is always thrilled by the amount of detail that goes into RSD releases.

  13. There are uncounted times your website has led me to awesome purchases. Thanks and my RSD choice would be the Belinda Carlisle. Coincidence time: I’m in a pharmacy waiting on a prescription and she is playing over the store’s music system. Kismet?

  14. I ‘ d love to see those SMALL FACES French EPs again, because I bought 2 of them with my pocket money when I was so much younger here in France, but where are they now…………..

  15. Sly and the Family Stone / Live at the Fillmore East 2LP coloured vinyl – this would be fantastic to own! Love your website. Please let me win!

  16. It has to be the Belinda Carlisle / Heaven on Earth picture disc for me please. (I am already signed up to the news letter too!) – Thank You for a chance to win as I had to work on RSD 2015!

  17. Simple Minds / Waterfront 7″ picture disc
Great song, great band! Saw them perform it live in my home town of Örebro last month. Brilliant!

  18. • Sly and the Family Stone / Live at the Fillmore East 2LP coloured vinyl

    Fingers and toes crossed.

Thanks for the chance to win.

    Al the best!

  19. Small Faces / The French EPs 7″ box
Not the most logical choice as it is chosen so many times already, but there you go. I really want this!

  20. If I were to be so blessed, my beloved SMALL FACES would be my wish. Those hot French EP mixes probably sound stupendous on vinyl……

  21. I already subscribe to your extremely useful newsletter and use your website all the time. I would love to win the Siouxsie and the Banshees Join Hnads LP. Thanks!!!

  22. Ooh, baby, do you know what I want?
Ooh heaven is a picture disc of heaven on earth.
They say in heaven you’ll get what you want.
Please make this my heaven on earth.

  23. Hi would make my day if I could get a copy of Siouxsie and the Banshees.
Why? coz I’ve never won anything and don’t expect to, but who cares! good luck to everyone, and keep up the good work at Super D Edition.

    Best wishes

    Paul

  24. Wow, I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many comments here! I’ll go with Sly. Unauthorized tapes of those Fillmore sets have circulated for years, but it will be great to hear them properly mixed. And with a gatefold sleeve! This will keep me busy until the full Fillmore package arrives from Legacy on 4 CDs.

  25. A very tough choice, but I think I would like to win the Simple Minds 7″. I saw them on their recent tour and they just go from strength to strength.

  26. Small Faces Boxset !!!! My favorite band (after the Pretty Things of course ! ) Still dreaming to have all french EPs of my country but originals are too expensive ! so this Boxset is a dream !!!! Best regards from France Brice

  27. Hello Paul,
If I will be happy I would should win:
Sly and the Family Stone / Live at the Fillmore East 2LP coloured vinyl
    Regards
    Art

  28. I’d like the Ryan Adams – he’s cost me a fortune in the past 12 months with his 7″ series, so winning the latest would be relief for my bank account.

  29. Since I already went out and bought the “Waterfront” record from one of my favorite bands, Simple Minds, I would have to defer to the Belinda Carlisle “Heaven On Earth” record, which was such an enormous success when I was a sophomore in college. I saw her solo act just a few years ago, and was struck at how she had such a perfect pop voice after The Go-Go’s disbanded.

  30. As I was unable to find it anywhere, I’d really love Siouxsie & the Banshees / Join Hands gatefold vinyl LP! please, please, please! :)

  31. God I had to scroll down a long way! That Siouxsie and the Banshees album looks like it needs a new home. I don’t mind volunteering to look after it. I’m sure it would be very happy here amongst other Siouxsie releases.

  32. I was in the queue at 3.40am last Saturday outside David’s Music in Letchworth with 30 people ahead of me. Unfortunately the last copy of Siouxsie & the Banshees was purchased by the guy in front. I visited the same store today and it was almost empty!

  33. Definitely the Siouxie & The Banshees Join Hands album as it was most definitely not available in any store in my city. I absolutely love that release.

  34. I would love Belinda Carlisle as a wedding gift for Sharon who I marry next week. As since I meet her, Heaven truly is a place on earth.

  35. I would like to win Siouxsie & the Banshees / Join Hands as i missed getting one on RSD to pick one up for a mate who couldnt make it to the store

  36. Does this list end..? As always late to the party – I’d like Belinda Carlisle. If I can’t have that, can I get the vinyl picture disc..? [Sorry Belinda]

  37. Oh My Dear, so many great giveaways, but the one I would love to get, more than the others, would be the Orchestral Manouevres in The Dark, 10″

  38. Great selection, will have to choose join hands by siouxsie and the banshees, great lp which if I win will be played on my radio show up here in sunny Scotland , cheers and good luck everyone

  39. Simple minds – waterfront …Wish every thread had this much input and as many lurkers coming out on it when prizes weren’t on offer

  40. Heaven would indeed be a place on earth if that Belinda disc was in my eager, greedy clutches… and the rest of the stuff is awesome too!

  41. Dear Sirs,
Small Faces box set would be marvelous please, going some way to return familial equilibrium having alienated myself from them indoors after miserable and fruitless attempt to get same! Thank you!

  42. My wife still hasn’t forgiven me for spending £150 on the Here Come The Nice box set. The Small Faces EP collection would be a nice companion piece to the box and give me something to cuddle up to at night.

  43. If you dony ask you wont get , so here goes , Small Faces please .
Paul , did you get any Info on the Rick Wakeman SE s about the needle drop of the quad versions ?
    Thanks

  44. Thanks Paul! – Another great offer from SDE!!
Should I be lucky, lucky, lucky… … I would LOVE the Simple Minds “Waterfront” disc
    Here’s hoping… :)

  45. Belinda Carlisle / Heaven on Earth picture disc

Id love to win this picture disc. Saw me through some tough times in the late 80s. I tried to get this on Saturday but despite trying 3 record stores and queueing for a couple of hours in the morning outside the 1st one, I didnt get one. Looks like Im not the only one who wants this, shame its a classic and will be very well looked after in my house!

  46. Simple Minds for me please. It was the first SM 7″ I got and the picture discs were always high quality. My brother even worked on one with Stylorouge. Cheers

  47. I couldn’t win an argument but i would like Belinda Carlisle – Heaven Is A place on Earth……………. if by a miracle I did win lol… Eddie

  48. Great to see vinyl now doing so well again – cd doesn’t compare for sheer joy of ownership and the showcase for creative artwork is much greater on record covers. All these releases look great – I’d choose the Dusty Springfield single first… join hands second… all great music!

  49. i would absolutely treasure the OMD 10″ in my collection – it’s actually become more difficult to collect such items over the years for many reasons. one of the few bands for which i’m a completist – well, as much as i can afford to be, of course.

  50. I would love the very water colour Waterfront : Simple Minds record.
…..And I love your site , especially the 1980’s re issues and compilations .

  51. My friend has originals of the 5 Small Faces French EPs that he worked on tracking down in the early 70’s during a European trip. He has let me borrow them once before. I must admit that I have wanted to own copies for many years…

  52. would love the Small Faces box set, did see it at my local record shop but had way too many other things on my list to be able to afford everything.

  53. Anyone who had a heart would realise that I would love the Dusty single to listen to whilst having breakfast in bed…you don’t have to say you love just put the Dusty record in my hand….

  54. Awesome prizes Paul! The Siouxsie disc was on my hit list for Saturday but I couldn’t get my hands on it so that would a great winner for me! Cheers.

  55. The Darjeeling Limited on green vinyl would be killer.

I’ve loved this movie and the soundtrack since it came out. The depiction of the aridness of the landscape as they ride along reminds me of the views from the window when I traveled Northern India by train. Coincidentally that was right around the time the movie was shot. I wish I would have happened across that set!

  56. As always thanks for the opportunity, always liked Sly so if I get lucky, I would appreciate it if I could WIN: DRUM ROLL:

Sly and the Family Stone / Live at the Fillmore East 2LP coloured vinyl

    Thanks-Bill Cannon

  57. Darjeeling soundtrack would be great to listen to, sitting, drinking tea, and mulling over the wonder and glory of music in all its’ shapes and forms, switched off from modern technology, immersed in sound (apart from a beep from the phone when there is an SDE alert, of course)

  58. I’d be thrilled with the Small Faces set, because here in the US, it falls to a few people like me to preach the gospel of “Here Come The Nice”, as the Smalls are all but forgotten in our parts. More source material for my sermons would sure help. The USA salutes SDE!

  59. I would *love* to win the Darjeeling Limited soundtrack on vinyl. My local store didn’t receive a single copy of it! Or if they did I was too preoccupied rushing to find my top pick at 8 am…

  60. Another Dutch Vote goes to Waterfront of Simple Minds. My favourite track during my student days, when we danced to this song in the Indie disco in Amsterdam!

  61. OMD would be my choice if successful. Big fan of the band and have literally every UK release but did not manage to get a copy if this on Saturday.

  62. What a great collection, especially the picture disc of Belinda Carlisle’s brilliant album! I loved listening to it in the late 1980s and still do now.

  63. An easy choice for me:
Small Faces / The French EPs 7″ box
My vinyl collecting friend has a copy – I do not and I now regret not buying it on RSD2015.

  64. I’d love the OMD, with the Simple Minds as a runner up. Couldn’t get the OMD here in the States (that I could find, anyway). Thanks, Paul!

  65. I would love the Small Faces EP box! I wanted to buy it so bad on RSD itself but I didn’t have the money, it looks truly beautiful and they are one of my favouite bands!

  66. Well i would to go for Sly and the Family Stone – Live at the Fillmore, something different which i wouldn’t be able to get for myself, but i would really enjoy. Good luck everyone! :-)

  67. Count me in for Simple Minds / Waterfront 7″ picture disc…picture discs are just so beautiful when done correctly like this one!!!

  68. Hey didn’t you know that HEAVEN IS A PLACE ON EARTH? And would be lovely to stare at Belinda while she turns round and around and around… ciao!!!

  69. If I had not already bought it on Record Store Day in Freebird Records in Dublin, I would pick the Small Faces!
But, seeing as I did after waiting in the Q for an hour before the shop opened, Sly Stone would do nicely.

  70. Georgie Fame please because a) I’ve never won anything from you before and you have cost me a fortune with all your cool deal alerts and b) because they didn’t have it in the shop I was in on RSD.

  71. That Belinda Carlisle / Heaven on Earth picture disc is my wish list! 1987 was a dreadful year in the military and that album accompanied me during that period – thank goodness for the string of hit singles that were released over a long period as a sweet diversion from reality! :-)
