Latest Stones ‘From the Vault’ sets currently offer great value.
Now seems as good a time as any to get your orders in for The Rolling Stones‘ recently announced ‘From The Vault’ release because these are a bargain at present on the UK Amazon.
The Marquee Club Live in 1971 is available as a standalone SD blu-ray and this is under ten pounds. The blu-ray features restored visuals and audio newly mixed by Bob Clearmountain, including a 5.1 mix.
There is no blu-ray combo option available, but remember this footage isn’t truly HD being upscaled for the blu-ray (hence ‘SD’ blu-ray). That means that the CD+DVD options or the LP+DVD options are reasonably attractive since you’re not really missing out on much in terms of the visuals.
The LP+DVD is an extraordinarily low £12 on Amazon UK at present and the CD+DVD is a bit cheaper still at a shade over £11 (note: Amazon have mislabelled this as DVD+LP but it’s definitely the DVD+CD).
If you want to tick all the boxes you could pick up all three of these sets giving you benefit of DTS-HD Master Audio sound on the blu-ray (region free), and the full flexibility of owning the audio on LP and CD and you’d have the DVD as well. That lot would be less than £33!
From The Vault: The Marquee Club Live in 1971 is released on 22 June. Prices correct at time of writing (6.30pm 28/4/15).

love these releases but hate the oversized sleeves
Great CD & DVD. With Mick Taylor The Stones were at their best.
I just received an e-mail from CD Japan and the Japanese edition actually includes the double CD of their 1973 Brussels concert which has been a famous bootleg for long and only available on the Stones web site as a super expensive box set. This isn’t cheap, $80 for either the 3 CD+DVD or 3 CD+Blu Ray edition but it’s the very first time that the Brussels concert is officially available at an affordable price.
A question for the experts (as I couldn’t come up with a reasonable answer…)
If I buy these:
1. From The Vault: The Marquee – Live In 1971 [Dvd] [2015] [NTSC]
The Rolling Stones
Sold by: Amazon EU S.a.r.L.
£7.92
2. Sticky Fingers
The Rolling Stones
Sold by: Amazon EU S.a.r.L.
£10.83
can I skip buying this:
Sticky Fingers
The Rolling Stones
Sold by: Amazon EU S.a.r.L.
£60.83
???
I don’t care about the book or the single or the worthless (to me…) goodies, but I would like not to miss any music…
Thanks for answering…
Best to everybody
Anyone know which is which yet? Have ordered both £11 and £12 options.
Hello. Andrew at Amazon has confirmed to me that, as Paul said initially, the £ 12.12 version is the LP and CD package. They have amended the description. I think the item has now come down to £ 11.75. So double bonus: right one, and now cheaper! The ASIN no. cited by Paul on 28/4 should match the CD+LP package listing. I hope this proves correct…
Great news, thanks David for the official line.
Thanks David – finally looks like a sensible price for long-suffering addicts.
Just ordered the Did+Lp version, brilliant price at only £12 so fingers crossed it turns out to be correctly listed!
If you check the no. of discs for the one listed as [DVD] it says 2 and the description says “DVD+LP Set”. The one listed as being “DVD+LP”, then states “DVD+CD” in the description. Could it be more confusing?
I know. It’s the descriptions that are correct, so that’s what to go by.
I asked amazon uk about Live In 1971 [DVD] [2015] [NTSC] ASIN: B00VVZUUP8 and they sent me a reply like this
______
Further to your email, I checked the item on the website and can confirm you that the item is only available in DVD format and not the same as on German amazon site.
______
I believe they do not know a thing in customer service.
JPC Germany
LP + DVD = 18,99 Euro
Thanks for the heads-up. Pre-ordered the lp/dvd combo at £12.22. If anything changes between now and release and it turns out that this wouldn’t actually be the vinyl/dvd package, can always cancel I guess.
Thanks Paul. I have ordered the £ 12.22 one on your advice, and have emailed Amazon to get them to look into the descriptions, and confirm I have ordered the DVD and LP.. I will post again when I get their reply.
Great, thanks David.
Amazon Uk looking into it. Will know within 5 days ! First attempt produced an unhelpful response but pushed back and second message seems to have got higher attention….par for the course.
“The LP+DVD is an extraordinarily low £12 on Amazon UK at present and the CD+DVD is a bit cheaper still at a shade over £11 (note: Amazon have mislabelled this as DVD+LP but it’s definitely the DVD+CD).”
Paul, how can you tell that it’s mislabelled? There is no indication that the DVD+LP is not actually £11 . I had already ordered this one, so now I’ve ordered both just to make sure I get the LP ( I already have the 1975 and 1981 sets on vinyl). Once I’m sure which is which, I’ll cancel the other. ;)
Well I’m 99% sure. If you type the ASIN number (B00VVZUUP8) for the product into Amazon Germany they show it as the LP+DVD. Likewise the other one on the UK shows as CD+DVD in Germany.
Malcolm, beat me too it, now i know ! a slightly more technical answer than my own musings i will grant you lol.
Now ordered. many thanks. it was good to start with and now they have dropped prices again i couldnt say no. Thought the labelling was wrong with Amazon for the different sets i.e the Lp, Cd thing for a while and was waiting for it to “settle down” and they sort it, they havent but never mind. i am rest assured…..
Ron, Other Stones DVD’s have been NTSC and for example region free…like Some girls live in Texas 78, Uk Biggest bang set was region o, four flicks all regions – NTSC discs work on std DVD players just as long as the region is 2, or 0. i just Never worked out why, always guessed it was the “way” the image is displayed and hence coded to disc- as opposed the different concept of a regional ” lock out”.
Thank you, Paul
Great price.
The CD/DVD set states that it is:
Format: NTSC
Region: Region 2
which seems to contradict itself?
Ron it is possible to have NTSC R2 DVDs. Many music ones are. The advantage is they play at the correct frame rate so the audio matches a CD. Because PAL runs at 25 frames a second rather than NTSC 24, the video is sped up so the pitch of the audio is wrong unless properly pitch corrected.
Look at your music DVDs most will be R0 (so no region coding) NTSC.
