First Pictures: Spooky Tooth The Island Years 1967-1974 box
Out this week is the new Spooky Tooth Anthology, The Island Years 1967 – 1974 and SDE can bring you this exclusive photo gallery of the new 9CD edition of this set.
The discs are housed in an attractive and very glossy outer box and each album comes in a gatefold vinyl replica sleeve. There are no inner sleeves and the discs themselves are accessible from the inside of the gatefold wallets. The sleeves are Japan-style strict replicas and so you’ll find details of the various bonus tracks appended to each album on the packaging (normally on the inside left hand panel).
A generous 50-page perfect bound booklet contains extensive notes (by Mark Powell, who conceived this set) and numerous photos from the era as well as track listings and credits for each album. The mini-replica photo finishes off the contents nicely.
This set is out now and is also available on vinyl LP (although the bonus tracks are via download code on the vinyl set). The UK price was highlighted as a deal alert on this set recently!

The vinyl box set, normally £100 in the UK, is now available from Great Offer Store for £50 plus £6 postage – absolute bargain!!
I got my set from Amazon.co.uk yesterday. My set had the “Art” poster. I’ve played the first two discs, and I’m pleased with music and sound quality. I don’t think that I’ve ever heard any of the albums after “The Last Puff”, so the Mick Jones-era albums will be new to me.
I can appreciate that Universal Music(or the pressing plant they’ve hired) supplied an additional protective carton, to help dealers get the product to customers intact. But alas, that additional carton doesn’t help, if some careless pressing plant employee has already dropped the boxed set on its’ corner. The shock of that impact caused slight lower right corner damage to all the mini-album covers. Fortunately, the discs themselves are all in excellent condition.
With regards to Philip Cohen’s damaged box set from Amazon UK,
mine was also damage and Amazon sent me a replacement within two days. Amazon do all the work for you just go into your orders page and tell them its faulty and give details of the fault and they will email a “Pre-Paid” label to you. I had my replacement copy before I even had time to send damaged one back.
Got mine from Amazon It. at super low price thanx to Paul and SDE. It is as good as these photos show, and the booklet is really detailed and imformative, and yes I got the Art poster too. Also treated myself to a RSD copy of the Art 7″ single What’s That Sound (For What It’s Worth). Excellent. Thanx Paul.
After reading all the comments about this boxset I’ve given in and it is enroute to me now – looks great !!
thanks!
Paschal Byrne is a very dependable remaster engineer and has done a lot of work with Esoteric for a number of years. I will consider the set now that I know – I wonder why they haven’t done more to promote that it has been remastered from the original master tapes.
My box from Italy arrived today, the sound on the first four CDs I`ve played so far is excellent.
I didn`t know it was the first 150 that got a poster, is that to each country? Because my box contained the `Art` poster.
I bought the vinyl version. No book included which is annoying.
You do get download card for all the audio.
My poster is not the one above so I wasn’t among the 150 or so lucky enough to get the one Paul has above.
Only had time for first LP so far but sound is excellent.
Might get CD box to have the book……
Now that some of you have the set, could you just comment on the sound and and if there is remastering and any details – would be appreciated. Thanks
Just played the Art CD so far, but sounds crisper than the early 2000s shell case CD reissue I already have. It says in the aaccompabying booklet ‘Remastered from the original master tapes by Paschal Byrne at the Audio Archiving Studio, London’, all seemingly this year.
I got mine from Amazon UK 2 days ago. Really nice package.
I just found out that it is available for pre-order at Amazon Germany for only EUR 64,99. Yesterday it was EUR 101,99…)

Ditto Richie – box set looks great! I hope the postage from Italy to Australia is quick. Great price.
Looks good, my box is winging it`s way from Italy for just over £47.
Just received the CD box. very nice package for the price (£51 Amazon UK). Only gripe is that it should have been a little larger so inner sleeves could be added, that would have set it off nicely, like the Roxy Music Island set. Unlike the Roxy set though, this shiny ST box has the name on the spine, so it doesn’t look anonymous when slipped onto a shelf. Great booklet as well and minitaure version of the Art poster is a nice touch.
Looks really fine! I prefer those side-cutted boxes than a clamshell type.
Is booklet containing liner notes and info to all releases or a general bio?
