  1. I say keep this feature to the start of the week as it still alerts us to releases to look forward to in just a few days, so last minute pre-orders/price shopping/buying plans can be done ahead of time rather than missing it by hearing Friday.

  2. I assumed DVDs and other entertainment products would also be moving to Fridays but Joe has confirmed that isn’t the case. Is the global release day for those Mondays or do they have different release days depending on the country?

  3. This is indeed the week that stuff starts coming out on a Friday, there was a dribble of stuff which came out today, but the majority of this weeks releases are out on Friday.
As a HMV employee, it’s a bit of a pain in the sense that it changes our (long running) routines with processing and managing stock, but I think it might help us, at least with chart releases, with people finding more stuff to buy when they come in on a weekend. Obviously we’ll miss the Monday sales lift, but DVD releases are still out on Mondays, so hopefully we won’t notice too much. Time will, as ever, tell.

  4. That’s right Karen – I know there are some new releases out today as it’s a “crossover” week (so some out on Mon 6th and some on Fri 10th), but the Chicago and Hollies releases mentioned here aren’t released until this Friday. From next week onwards, it’ll be Friday for all new releases.

    1. Indeed. They are still all ‘out this week’ though, so no issue there. Would people prefer this post to now move to a Friday? Thoughts?

  5. I thought out this week, changed from Monday now to Fridays. Radio 1 did the last Sunday chart yesterday.

I read that the new release day will be Fridays, and it started on 10th July 2015
