Deal alert / Lee Hazlewood deluxe
One of the best deluxe sets of 2013, There’s A Dream I’ve Been Saving 1966-1971, is a lovingly crafted celebration of the inimitable producer, songwriter and label-owning maverick Lee Hazlewood. It’s available at the moment at a bargain price from Amazon Italy.
Produced by US label Light In The Attic, this luxurious large-format (12″ x 12″) 172-page book contains 107 tracks across four CDs and a region-free DVD featuring the commercial debut of Lee’s film Cowboy in Sweden. The photos below give you a feel for this fine set which is around £55 at the moment from the Italian site, when compared to £93 on Amazon UK. This really is a brilliant example of high-class music presentation – I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
Got mail from supplier, Fastmedia, US based, only paid 2 euros for postage ???
Ordered, £84 v £200 on Amazon UK,
What’s not to like
Cheers Paul
I see this is back up to euro 103 already and thats from a third party seller!
Worth keeping an eye on it, because it went up last night but was down again this morning. Now back up though, as you say!
I bought the super deluxe edition of this when it was released for £101. A lot of junk on the DVDs of the singles and albums and it’s not really worth the extra outlay. However, £55 for this ‘basic’ version is a bargain and worth it for the DVD “Cowboy in Sweden” alone. Twin set denim never looked so cool!
I saw this in a charity shop (one of those BHF specialist music and book ones) last year. They had it in a glass case, selling for £50. I think I should have got it….
I’m glad to have the super deluxe already, but this is a beautiful thing
I would love this but I really don’t like these huge LP sized boxes. I know it is shallow of me but I like my box sets to sit neatly on my shelf. It does look excellent though.
It’s really a book, rather than a box, so it sits nicely next to vinyl records – it’s not a weird shape or anything.
I`ve been thinking about this set for quite a while, I am no longer thinking about this set. It`s being packed in a brown Amazon box.
As Jim says, DAMN YOU!!!, Paul that`s next weeks dosh gone!
I’ve no choice but to order this. Damn you!
You’ll thank me, I promise :)
I bought this when it was released and I knew little about Lee. It has become one of my favorite sets. As Paul said, the quality is excellent and the whole package is a great example of how well a box set can be done.
Ben,
Have you noticed with the CD’s and the DVD in your Lee Hazelwood Box Set if they came scratched and/or scuffed on the playing surface because of the slide in pockets in the book where they’re housed ? It looks like to me that there’s nothing to protect them whatsoever from being scratched before you buy them or after if you choose to use those pockets ? If these record labels would only use digi-pak like trays to put them in if they insist on these book type boxed sets.
I know what you mean. It is not optimal at all. I have the deluxe set and there are no scratches.
