Cherry Red reissue the Madness frontman’s first solo album (originally issued in 1995) with a wealth of remixes on the bonus disc.

Bert Jansch / Avocet (vinyl LP)

Bert Jansch‘s meditative paean to British birds was originally issued in 1979. Earth Recordings did reissue this as a lovely limited edition vinyl sleeve with inserts. Unfortunately they have sold out, but the vinyl LP in standard sleeve is now available as an alternative. CD version is here.

Various Artists / 70 Hits of the 70s

There is clearly still a market for this kind of compilation and why not, considering that this Rhino 3CD set has a decent enough track listing (Kate Bush, Fleetwood Mac, Gerry Rafferty, Foreigner etc.) and delivers each CD quality track for 10p –  better than an iTunes MP3 for 79p.

Primal Scream / Screamadelica live (blu-ray)

This performance of the classic album was filmed in November 2010 at London’s Olympia. It was the first time that Primal Scream had performed the whole record live.

  2. The much-delayed deluxe reissues of UB40’s Present Arms and Labour of Love have finally arrived! I saw them being put on the shelves in HMV late Thursday.

    I wanted the vinyl, but not at £27.99 each…will wait for a deal.

  3. The single version of the Man with the Child In His Eyes can be found on “The Greatest Love ii” 2CD compilation from 1989 (black cover)

  4. re: siouxsie albums set. just looked on amazon to see if the first is still available. it says this:

    Exclusively for Amazon Prime Members
    This item, sold by Amazon, is currently reserved exclusively for Prime members.

    so you have to be a Prime member to get it direct from amazon?
    find that very annoying.
    I refuse to join Prime again cause when I was waiting for expensive camera stuff, they said they tried to deliver – and I’d waited in all day. and not just once. I had this routine on 3 seperate occasions.

    2. I think there is a trial period for Prime. But make sure you cancel prior to the last date or you may get charged.
      Not a fan of prime either. Took the trial for “Prime Day” and found nothing useful.
      A few things that I ordered under prime came the same time as a “normal” shipping.

  6. The 70’s box set looks kind of interesting with some 7” edits there. I wonder if they have put the 7” edit of The Man With The Child In His Eyes complete with the laughing beginning?

    1. If your close to a large Asda they often carry this type of release (may even be the target market for these compilations) in a “2 for £9” deal
