  2. This whole Uriah Heep Box Set saga is a little bonkers really. First, the 50th Anniversary Box is released with no extra tracks and some of the albums are doubled up on one CD. Then it includes 4CDs where each member picked their favourite tracks (which were already in the set). Then we get this the T-Shirt Box set and just out of sight another box set again including the 4CDs of the band favourite tracks but this time with a couple of others added. I can only presume that another box set will be on its way with the outtakes and unreleased live tracks. Perhaps this one will have a winter coat with it? I am a huge Uriah Heep fan and have covered them several times on the Now Spinning site but feel that BMG are not really listening to what actual fans and collectors really want?

  4. I agree. I was a bit too young at the time when they had their heyday (early 70s) and more into Chinn/Chapman then but later discovered the band as well.
    Over the years i bought one compilation, the deluxe sets (2-cd) of the first five (or six?) albums and some weeks ago the seperately released Choices 4-cd-box and i think that’s quite enough Heep for me too.
    Won’t even change my mind if they should decide to make a cd-version of this for half the price… ;-)

  5. Crazy set.
    So 6 t-shirts that will sit in the box forever or you wear them and then have a box that’s more than twice the size of what’s left in there.
    No booklet covering the details about the albums or album sleeves.
    These box sets are getting out of hand.

    I can remember the albums from the early 1970s.
    Or more correctly, the album titles.
    Cds would be nice.
    This vinyl box, is too pricey for me.
    A devoted Uriah Heep fan will need deep pockets

  7. This box is crazy expensive for what basically amounts to 7 shirts 7 picture disc sans any real artwork and a bunch of useless cardboard. Uriah Heeps reissues have been questionable in the extreme. The mega CD box was completely useless as it left off any rarities in favour of 4 discs of repeated “band favorites” discs – madness at best.

If I was a fan of Heep I’d probably think this was good value , I mean go to any gig and You will pay £30 for a tour shirt and these actually look pretty decent so I’m sure dedicated fans of them will be all over this. If this was Pink Floyd or Bowie or Macca I’m sure many SDE readers would be having kittens trying to buy it.

    1. This box confuses me somewhat, but must say picture discs have come a long way in the past ten years or so. Same goes for color vinyl. Glow in the dark is another story. No one’s seemed to figure that out yet. Bad pressings are all over the place independent of color/pd. There are really great pressings of all types out there as well though. The recent Cure picture discs sound excellent, as one example.

      But I’m not proud. There are certain artists that, if they released a box set exactly like this one, I’d be coughing up the money immediately.

    2. no. their last one was. a mammoth box that contained…er…all their studio releases (one duplicated as an lp)…one live album previously released and…wait for it….separate cds containing a selection of previously released tracks chosen by each band member. nothing previously unreleased. Oh and they later boxed up the 4 separate choices cds as a box called choices. I am a huge fan of the band and a sucker for a box set/super deluxe edition but struggle to see the market for these releases. Fans will have it all already (so only the most completist of completists will want it) and the uninitiated are hardly likely to go for a £200 collection like this.

      1. Despite the fact that I think this is a bonkers idea for a boxed-set, I am kinda curious as to the print run for this. Are there equal number of all the sizes of the t-shirts? If they make less 3XL shirts, would that make the 3XL box more of a collector’s item?

        1. Given that the set is only available from their own store & the shirts are just dropped into the top of the box I’m sure the boxes are all half empty & they have a small number of each size they can drop in as orders are received. They can easily screenprint a new batch if they have a run on certain sizes. (The unboxing also didn’t show any unwrapping so it may not even come plastic sealed if they’re just dropping shirts in & sticking the lid back on)
