Win tickets to a special Tears For Fears playback event

Hear ‘The Tipping Point’ in Dolby Atmos

In collaboration with Concord Records, we are excited to offer five SDE readers the chance to attend a very special Tears For Fears playback event in Central London.

On the evening of release of the album – 25th February 2022 – the winners of this competition will have the chance to hear the Steven Wilson Dolby Atmos Mix of the new album, The Tipping Point, in full, and Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith will be there, in person!

This is open only to UK residents (apologies to our international readership) but the good news is, if you do live in the UK and you have already pre-ordered ANY format of The Tipping Point via the SDE shop, then you are already entered into the competition!

If you haven’t purchased the album from SDE yet, then you can do so below and you will also be entered into the competition (if you’re in the UK). We are sold out of the SDE-exclusive formats (13-track deluxe & blu-ray audio) but the standard CD and black vinyl LP are now available. Use this link to the pre-order via the SDE shop or simply make use of the buttons below. Your pre-orders will ship next week and best of luck! All five winners will have a ‘+1’ to bring a partner or friend along with them.

THIS COMPETITION HAS NOW ENDED. Winners will be informed today (21 Feb 2022)

The competition closes at midnight (GMT) on 20 February 2022 and winners will be randomly selected and informed the next day, on Monday 21 February.

No purchase necessary. 18+. For full terms and conditions see this page.

  1. Oh, since I brought up the pending 40th anniversary, a 5.1 Blu-ray of The Hurting (instead of the existing stereo Blu-ray with the mastering glitch) would be great. And bonus content/a bonus single of “Mad World” could be bundled with that! Maybe that idea has legs!

  2. You will be there. And they will be there. (And you probably know how to contact them at any rate.) Any chance of proposing an SDE exclusive CD-single or even a digital single of the original Mad World 12″? None of the 3 tracks (including the non-segued “Mad World”) made it on to SDE box. A hole in my heart! I know they disdain “Saxophones As Opiates”, but surely it’s been available on vinyl for anyone to buy (used) for nearly 40 years. It’s already out there. And a niche release like this, separated from a box set or other album reissue, seems like something that is targeted to the people who have likely already heard it (sorry, Roland and Curt, but I own it, I’ve listened to it, and I like it… I just don’t have a clean digital version). Maybe the boat has sailed in terms of needing to pull those master tapes and paying the expense of remastering. But a real 40th anniversary is right around the corner!

    1. I’d love a studio version of the Danny Jules take they played live that another SDE member was kind enough to post a link to. I think it would fit in quite nicely with the tone of this album as obviously was more somber than the original.

  3. I hope Paul , I can take part in the competition. I’m living in London but my e-mail address in your online shop is a German address. Who is interested to see TFF in a conversation in London Hackney 21.02. at the Earth Theatre should visit the TFF-Website. Ticket price is 18£.
Paul if you visit this event – so you should bring the orders of the 5 winners to the event so that Roland and Curt could sign the Cds or Blurays.

    1. Hi Remi,

thanks for posting the link but as your article is behind a paywall (and i stopped french lessons in school after two years because i was hopeless) it’s of not much use to me.

Any chance that you can offer me and other interested SDE-readers some excerpts of your interview with Curt here or do legal restrictions forbid that?

      Merci.

  4. sounds cool, but alas I am not a ‘UK resident’.

just curious though, is that a legal restriction for this sort of contest in UK? so if a non-resident knew they would be in town that day, why could they not enter the contest?

  5. Oh boy, id love to come along to this as it’s got 3 of my favourite things. SDE, TfF and SW 5.1 mixes. Can’t wait for the SDE exclusive new album to drop next week (cd and pink vinyl)
