  1. Arrived in Canada quick. I’ve only sampled the stereo remix. Top notch.
Paul – you do great work.
Fingers crossed for ‘Beauty Stab’ – the jewel of the ABC catalogue.

  2. Mine it’s on it’s way but the attention to detail is fantastic, even down to the rich colours from the original album & the inner sleeve picture is a much appreciated touch!!

An absolute magnificent beast of an album getting it’s deserved treatment!!

    Can’t wait to play it!

Now, how about “Avalon” or “Street Fighting years” ? Considering the record label could’nt be bothered for that reissue! That album is crying tears as we speak for the Mr S Wilson treatment!!!

  3. I would love to see my 2 favorite 2023 releases on blu-ray: Caroline Polachek and Depeche Mode, including the vinyl master, original master and steven wilson remixes.

  4. General Public’s first two albums are being reissued on vinyl on Friday. These albums are great candidates for deluxe editions. I know Hand to Mouth was reissued on CD years ago with some bonus tracks but there is a lot still unreleased on CD.

  5. You know, just when I was wondering, “When is the next SDE Bluray due?”, there we go! Does this mean we might see another one soon?

  6. Sort of music-related…and also out on 8/4 –

Go-Betweens co-frontman and excellent solo artist Robert Forster is releasing his own line of Muesli, along with Pete Paphides via Needle Mythology Records.

Called…get this…”Spring Grain”, a play on the Go-Betweens classic song “Spring Rain”, it’s available in Europe (Robert Forster – Spring Grain Muesli – (Vinyl LP) | Rough Trade), not sure about the USA or other parts of the world.

This has to be one of coolest and most fun “releases” of 2023!

  7. Firstly, just signed up for that PSB Smash BluRay replacement…and my ABC LOL BRA #12 is in the queue…but considering I’m budgeting myself, the only new 8/4 release I’m getting…and it’s not listed here…is the new 20-track album by Australian powerpop master Rick Springfield called “Automatic”, named that because he wanted to make a record with the catchiest, hookiest songs he could muster, and they came hard & fast, automatically, like clockwork… can’t wait… everything else here can eventually…

  8. Very excited for the ABC release. Particularly looking forward to hearing the instrumental mix of what is one of my favourite 80s albums. The Tears for Fears Hurting instrumental mix was a revelation. With the Trevor Horn production on this I suspect it will be even better…..not to mention the Steven Wilson 5.1/atmos mix! Love these releases and can’t wait to hear what the next SDE release will be.

  9. Ride reissue their less popular albums on Friday – Carnival of Light and Tarantula. Both deserve a fair hearing although the group’s assessment that they had veered off track is certainly reasonable.

    1. Carnival of Light is my favorite Ride album by a long shot. One of the best albums of that era, it has aged very well. It got savaged because Ride were always a bit of a punching bag in the rags, when shoegaze was over the critics piled on. However, Tarantula was a mess; the sound of a band cracking under the pressure of Britpop.

      1. I’ve actually never heard Tarantula! I really disliked Black Night Crash when it came out so I didn’t buy the album but I’ve really come round to that track over the years and I love it now!!

        1. I actually do like Carnival of Light, but Tarantula was a snoozer apart from Black Nite Crash, which I thought was great. It’s the only track they play in concert from either of these albums, since it has at least some of the shoegazer element that people loved about them. Going to look for a good price CoL on vinyl…

      2. Of course Carnival Of Light is the album that has all Mark Gardner’s songs on one side and all Andy Bell’s on the other… not ideal for those of us who had it on cassette and drained our Walkman batteries winding it forward in the middle.

    2. For some reason the bonus tracks aren’t included on COL but are on all the other releases. Really strange and makes it hard for me to replace my 2001 version with this one

  10. Also out on Friday is the long delayed (at least in physical form) LAST OF US SEASON 1 soundtrack by Gustavo Santaolalla.

It’s a 2 disc CD set and theres also various vinyl editions albeit those are delayed till September.
