Saxon reissue Solid Ball of Rock (1991), Unleash The Beast (1997), and The Inner Sanctum (2007), this week. Unlike the great casebook 1980s reissues from 2018, which packed in about 80 minutes of material on each set, these offer no real extras, apart from new ‘digisleeve’ packaging. Still, it means they are available at sensible prices.
Dogs of War (1995), Metalhead (1999) and Lionheart (2004) follow on the 6th October.
Not released until next week (and a second batch in October), but wanted to highlight a lovely vinyl/CD boxset of the Cardiacs album ‘ALMAAHATWWWI’ available for pre-order
A LITTLE MAN AND A HOUSE AND THE WHOLE WORLD WINDOW SPECIAL EDITION VI – The Consultant’s Memorabilia Collection (abc-mary.myshopify.com)
Also out now, the first single from Steven Wilson’s new album “The Harmony Codex”. The album is out a month later.
Why no mention of Hawkwind mammoth 11cd box in September?
Possibly because the header says ‘Out This Week / on 1 September 2023’ and the current release schedule for ‘Space Ritual’ says it will be out on 29 September 2023.
Also possible is that even then it won’t be mentioned here because Hawkwind might not be Paul’s cup of tea…
But fear not… because of your comment now everyone with the slightest interest in Hawkwind is alerted and will already have included 29/09 into their calendar.
We’ve had Hawkwind on here in the past, so they may turn up again in a few weeks…..
Also out Friday is the long delayed vinyl of the Last Of Us soundtrack (the digital and CD versions having already released).
Even though I’m not a vinyl fan the set and it’s variants really are works of art if you like the game or TV series that is.
One oddity with the set though is how the vinyl tracklisting has a totally different order to that of the CD which in itself had additional tracks to that of the digital release.
Most excited for the new Slowdive release. The Tom Waits reissues are coming out as well and the new Sigur Ros finally getting a physical release
Tom Waits isn’t coming out until 8th Sep.
The CDs of the first three are definitely 8th in the UK, I double-checked with Universal.
Hmm, my REM vinyl reissues shipped out 5 days ago. I ordered directly from the band’s US webstore though – perhaps that’s why?
I’m in the US. Amazon still showing Sept 1 as the release date but maybe that will change soon
I ordered all five on AMZ US. Two will be here tomorrow, September 1, one on Monday, one in October and the last one they don’t have an estimate for. A mixed bag.
Don’t forget the release of Everything is alive, by Slowdive, and Relentless, by The Pretenders. And last friday, a new Nick Cave and Warren Ellis live album was released, but only digitally. The vinyl version will follow later in the year.
Also out this week is the 10th Anniversary edition of The 1975’s debut album, on either black 4LP or white 2LP…
Just received the final two coloured vinyl reissues of the first 4 Undertones albums, with the signed prints of the album artwork. Like the first 2 albums released a couple of months ago they came advertised with 12 inch signed prints. Just one issue. The two I have just received are actually 11 inch by 11 inch in size. It was nice anticipating having all 4 album artwork prints sitting together. Now they look silly with two being 12 inch by 12 and two 11 inch by 11. Who signed off on this nonsense? It’s not rocket science to have all four the same size when they are released two months apart. Still being advertised on their official store as 12 inch by 12 inch by the way.
You should complain. Curious to know how they’ll justify this.
No Biggie.
Frame them all in the same sized frame but use a mat with a 1/2 inch border for the 11×11″ prints …. will look like a smart set….
If something being sold is not as advertised, it’s against the law in the UK – it’s that simple. You should insist that the vendor supply you with 12×12 prints or your money back.
Good God Colin! It’s The Undertones, not fricken Microsoft (yes, l know that ultimately it’s BMG via The Undertones Ltd., Salvo and Union Square, but still, do we really want to die on this particularly pedantic hill?). I mean, it’s not like one bought “The White Album” only to find that the John and George portraits were an inch shorter than Paul and Ringo’s.
