Really am looking forward to this release Paul.
The real question Paul is when will you announce the first two Heaven 17 albums on SDE Blu Ray.
Might be worth Visage’s first two albums as well!
Okay pre-ordered :-)
Was also looking at that poster to the left of you when you were talking future announcements….. hoping this might be an easter-egg. 1984 was such an amazing year for music (gosh I’m old)
I’m hoping for what’s over his right shoulder…
Bang!, you are correct…Pauls right shoulder :-) but for us viewers left.
I assumed you meant his left, and therefore Peter Gabriel, which I’m sure would be a popular choice.
Sorry, off topic: Every article has a link that jumps to the comments just below the headline, but not these with the embedded video. Why is that?
Oh yeah, I ordered the bundle. Really looking forward to this!
Will the SDE blu-ray slipcover be spot varnished like the original LP, Paul?
That’s the aim! I do need to check that it’s economically viable, but I want to do it…
As you know the prices of spot varnish! Wot is your estimate of wot the mind games box would cost in spot varnishing alone? I mean if your having to think hard about a small slip cover then I presume it’s very expensive.
I hope you can Paul but if not I’d be quite happy with the later sleeve with the picture of stones. It’s the blu ray that matters to me.
Either way, I think Lament is a superb example of elegant design, although I do prefer the inclusion of the Callanish Standing Stones on the sleeve.
Really looking forward to the CD boxset, been listening to the 15 track (albeit digital) remixes of the original and there are some stunning mixes on there. Obviously the above includes all those and with the new mixes by such as Moby and Wilson this is shaping up to be my favourite release of the year.
I’m really looking forward to this latest phase in Ultravox’s reissue/40th anniversaries campaign.
I also appreciate the style of this video (and the prior John Lennon Mind Games unboxing video. Since this time, it’s not exactly an unboxing video, it’s nice to get away from the overhead view and go for a more casual dialog approach. Maybe future unboxing videos could cut together the two camera angles?
Hi Paul,
Question? All the previous recent incarnations in the Ultravox back catalogue have been Flat Transfers and NOT remasters. Is this a change from the theme or does your reference to this being a new remaster simply meaning its a “new” flat transfer like the others in the series?
Thanks.
Okay. Hyperventilating here. Must learn patience…..
How does one buy just the 1 clear vinyl?
There is no ‘one’ clear vinyl. There is a 2LP black vinyl edition…
Which is a bewildering 2 sides of music over 4 sides of vinyl! Glue the etched sides together and there’s your 1 LP!
Surprised there’s no discussion over this. Suppose Paul’s criticisms are now on mute. Can’t bite that hand that feeds :-)
Yawn
It’s only about a fiver more for 2LPs than what on an average 1LP by any artist these days costs…
You can get the cd/dvd, 5xclear vinyl, 2xvinyl, and either a black or white t-shirt for around £200 from the official store. Plus the first 100 buyers got a “free promotional 7″ single”. But these all appear to have gone now.
I noticed the free 7″ bundles when I checked the official store just after the release had been announced. One bundle included the t-shirt, the other one didn’t. By the time I’d looked at all the other bundles / formats and track listings and decided to go for a free 7″ with a bundle they were no longer available, not that I’m really bothered as they included the pointless double etched 2lp half speed master. I can understand having one side etched on a double album when there’s too much music for a single album but not enough to fill the 4 sides of a double lp but why they didn’t just follow the example of the 3 previous half speeds and have the second disc featuring 7″ versions and b-sides is beyond me.
Perhaps they chose to do something different on the half speeds because Lament got a 2lp reissue in 2017 containing 7inch edits & ‘b’ sides.
I tend to agree that if they weren’t going to include any extra material, a single lp would have been sufficient.
Nice Beatles throw pillows! Nice video too. Really love the black on black.
I like the black on black, too. Reminds me of Talking Heads’ ‘Fear of Music.’
OMD – Electricity was first and influenced everyone. That’s according to their autobiography.
They all look really nice Paul and, like you, am looking forward to getting your excellent blu ray plus the two box sets. Just one small criticism, I wish they had released the RSD 12″ single on CLEAR vinyl rather than black, to match up with the 5LP set.
Agreed. I got the RSD 12″ and noticed it had #6 on the outer sleeve presumably as it’s a continuation of the 5 lp outer sleeves which appear to be numbered #1-5 in this video so it would make perfect sense to have released the RSD 12″ in clear vinyl especially as all the other RSD vinyl releases have come in clear vinyl (the 3 Steve Wilson stereo / inst. sets + the Sleepwalk 12″) along with the multi vinyl discs in the 40th anniversary SDE’s.
Even the 7″ single of Herr X/Alles Klar that came with Electronic Sound magazine was on clear vinyl.
Nice Savoy t-shirt.
I thought that! Thought I was imaging it. Now they had some great songs that never did anything!!!
BTW, “Lackluster Me”, the album on the shirt, is currently available at 15€ as LP+CD set over at JPC.
