  1. There are some decent Prime Day deals on amazon uk, they just make them hard to find (all cds) :

    Dannii Minogue – Neon Nights 2cd £3.57
Teenage Fanclub – Nothing lasts forever £3.29
REM – Chronic Town EP £4.60
    Midge Ure – The Gift 4cd £18.03
Elvis Costello – Spanish Model £1.63
Cat Stevens – Mona Bone Jakon £1.97
Tina Turner – Queen of Rock n Roll 3cd £5.19

  2. Importcds.com has 15% off. They usually only have 10% off and even that is fairly rare. Their prices are already rock bottom so this is a great deal. Unfortunately only for “in stock” items. No pre-orders.

  3. Anyone else who cares to relive the great satanic panic can snaffle the usually overpriced Shout at the Devil SDE for around one third the cost at Amazon UK now. It’s not in the prime day deals section, l stumbled upon it browsing, which is why l’m posting the deal here.
And no, l don’t think it’s a pricing error. But you never know, so l could be going to hell for this.

  4. A few deals I just saw on Amazon AU “Shop Prime Big Deal Days” :

Neil Young Archives Vol III – AUD $222 (about GBP 115)
Jethro Tull Aqualung SDE – AUD $39 (about GBP 20)
Jethro Tull Broadsword SDE – AUD $63 (about GBP 33)
Bowie Rock n Roll Star SDE – AUD $142 (about GBP 74)
    McCartney – Ram LP (2017) – AUD $27 (about GBP 14)
    War – The World Is A Ghetto 50th 4CD – AUD $47 (about GBP 24)
plus various LPs at sensible prices.
Managed to “snag” a couple of these.
NOTE: These are all supplied by Amazon US so I assume the US would have similar or even cheaper prices on these??

  5. On Amazon DE a few Dylan boxes have dropped

Complete Budokan 1978 CD box is £88

Fragments Time Out Of Mind Sessions CD box is £55

Cutting Edge 1965-1966 CD box is £55

Original Mono Recordings CD box is £42

Springtime In New York CD box is £46

  6. Target Circle week in US Oct 6 – Oct 12 (I think that date range). Buy 2 get 1 free deals. Tears for Fears live cd +1 bonus track. The Cure new 2 cd + Blue ray. Tom Petty Long After Dark deluxe. New Order 12” vinyl, 20th Century Lindsey, Fleetwood Mac Mirage Live. Ultravox, Pink Floyd. PSB Nonetheless with demos. Duran Macabre DeLuxe. Talking Heads Stop Making Sense. Books and Movies too, mix and match. Free domestic shipping with $35 purchase. Amazon US may price match, they usually do.

    1. Fantastic sale. So far I got:
      -The new 2cd/blu-Ray Cure
-Tom Petty Long After Dark 2cd/blu-Ray
-Tears For Fears Live exclusive vinyl.
These are all the same price so that’s a maximum discount.

      -Green Day American Idiot box
      -The Clash CD Singles box
-Dire Straits Live box (back in print it seems)
Again all very similarly priced so maximum discount

      -Pink Floyd German/ation box
      -Pink Floyd Reverber/ation
      -Lindsey Buckingham Album box
Again same price so lotsa money saved.

Not writing this to boast about what I bought but to give people ideas in terms of finding similarly priced items. Harder than you think if you suddenly have a huge database at your disposal. You don’t know where to start. Your Amazon search history is always a good starting point.

    2. Thanks for the tip Steve! Ordered TFF, Cure, Petty, PSB, Duran Duran from your list above. Also ordered the George Harrison Material World 2CD (which was similar in price to The Cure and Petty for the 2-for-3 deal), The Runaways – Queens of Noise upcoming culture factory reissue and Johnny Marr’s Greatest Hits CD and Boomslang 2CD. Saw they have the Green Day American Idiot, Queen I and U2 How to Dismantle… box sets but not the Talking Heads 77, Elvis Costello King of America or New Order Brotherhood box sets. Was hoping to bundle a few of those as well. They also didn’t have the Thompson Twins – Into the Gap 3CD. Waiting to see what AMZ has for the Prime Big Deal Days sale tomorrow and will then also buy some newer/upcoming 4ks at Target if they are cheaper than AMZ.

  7. Decent price on Amazon.Fr for a couple of recently released box sets:

Jimi Hendrix – Electric Lady Studios/A Jimi Hendrix Vision – €49.99
    Thin Lizzy – 1976 (5CD & BluRay) – €52.99

Comes to £92.26 for the two with standard postage to the UK.

    1. My Hendrix is due to arrive from Amazon France on Wed. Came to a very reasonable £45 including postage, which is way lower than Amazon UK have it for even now.

    1. I ordered it for less than £160 from Amazon Germany on impulse.

Then I saw sense and cancelled. I have the CD box and they have been played once.

      1. Haha, “then I saw sense”…..can I have some of that please? I just bought all kinds of stuff on the 3 for 2 deal at Target.com. Half the stuff I’ll listen to once or twice. What’s wrong with me

  8. Recordstore.co.uk have The Beatles’ Abbey Road Super Deluxe 3CD/BR for £59.99

And Amazon DE have the Sgt Peppers 4CD/DVD/BR for £80 and the Revolver 5CD for £69

  9. Ultravox Vienna 40th anniversary CD/DVD box set currently £53.90 on Amazon UK. I’ve been keeping an eye on this and it’s as cheap as it has been since I started looking.

  10. Jethro Tull A Passion Play Extended 30 euros on Amazon.fr
If you spend 50 euros on qualifying products you get a further 10 euros discount using code FD10 until 30th September. Worked for me for shipping to the UK

    1. Thanks for that Ken, I already had Neil Young On The Beach (clear vinyl) on order from Am Fr. for £25 so I cancelled the order.
I reordered it along with A Passion Play which I’ve been meaning to order for a while, total cost £43, bargain.

  11. The new Joni Mitchell Asylum Albums (1976-1980) 5CD set has dropped to £36 on Amazon UK. Not the cheapest it’ll ever be but it started at £50 not too long ago.

  12. Steve Miller Band J50: The Evolution Of The Joker deluxe 3 LP + 7” lenticular cover is currently £70.02 at Amazon UK. By way of comparison it is £179.99 at Rough Trade and £189.99 at HMV

  13. A couple of nice bargain’s from a seller on eBay, marchad2406, the rolling stones hackney diamonds 2cd + Blu-ray+ 64 page book complete with lenticular front box set £15 and also tina turner foreign affair 4cd + dvd box set £19. Both new and sealed. Tho’ I don’t know how many copies he has.

      1. I magnified the photo of the item and the hype sticker states all of the details I gave in the above post, alternatively a message to the dealer will give you full details.

  14. Got my bruv the big Frankie Valli 44cd as he tiled my bathroom, it’s huge, we’ve currently gone down the rabbit hole of watching Frankie on YouTube , Live would be the wrong word, it’s unbelievable to watch lol, poor Frankie. Found some old Ryko Bowie cds at Windsor record fair, they sound unbelievably good , Station to Station sounds like Roy Bittan is in my front room, stunning.

  15. Not a deal as such, but the availability at a reasonable price is worth sharing:

Apparently amazon.de has a stock of Jellyfish – Split Milk Vinyl again.
I just got a notification that my order from June of this year has been shipped. Current price 29,30 Euro

      1. It doesn’t look like it, but Amazon hardly provides any useful details. I’ll be able to say more on Monday when the delivery arrives. It is currently on its way from the UK to customs in Belgium.

I have just seen that the delivery time is again stated as: ‘Usually ready for dispatch in 3 to 7 months’

          1. Ordered October 3rd and received today November 17th, not as bad as expected. Thanks again, stepwin.

  16. If you have been holding out for a drop in the frankly previously extortionately priced “The Rolling Stones Singles 1966-1971[18 x 7″ Single Boxset]” then it is currently available on Amazon USA at £106 ish delivered (to the UK) (including taxes). A 41% drop they say…. https://amzn.to/3XSu5Wy

          1. As Music On Vinyl is based in the Netherlands i find it hardly surprising that they include records by Dutch artists in a sale.

Also all three artists that you listed sold lots of records in the Netherlands and Belgium in their heyday so yes, some people in these countries will be delighted to find beloved albums from their younger days for reasonable prices.

  17. Police/Synchronicity update: Just had 5 minute text chat with Mohd at Amazon.
The Japan SHMCD box is due to ship in 3-4 days (26th Sept), at the preorder price (£29.40). I asked for email confirmation- screengrab attached.

    1. Still a bit sceptical since it talks about the “amount shows now”, referring to the current price, since it has not been available to purchase at any price for months.

However, thanks for sharing and fingers remain crossed.

    2. The person you were talking to has zero insight into this issue/product. They’re just relaying info from a screen – info as it stands right now.
I had similar a couple of weeks back with something rare I knew they weren’t getting. It was due for delivery next day and support told me it would def be there. Two days later it was cancelled.

    3. I’ve had the same chat with 3 different rep’s all said the same, I ended up taking a giftcard for the difference of the UK version, £36 + £5 +£5 = £46.

    4. For all those holding out for the Japan version, many have had success buying the £74.99 version after contacting customer services with them refunding the difference. Lots of examples of success below. Key thing is a) use the chat, so you can provide links to the representative b) screenshot the Japan CD order before letting Amazon cancel it (don’t do it yourself) and c) screenshot your chat with the offer of them refunding the difference once the £74.99 copy arrives. Probably quicker I reckon and not that much hassle than waiting for the Japan version. But good luck to those still waiting.

    5. At what point does a ‘bargain’ become not worth the time effort needed to procure it? This exact edition is freely available on CD Japan for not a whole lot more, please, buy it so we can all move on.

      1. Took me far less than an hour to sort (both cancelation and refund) and saved £45.60. Not a bad hourly rate. In terms of time and effort, we all comb this page looking for bargains. It’s part of the “excitement”. I’m sure if you added all the time we all “waste” looking on this bargains page, none of us have really had a bargain ever, if it all got costed up. I’d argue in the case of Synchronicity, most of the wasted time has already happened with us checking and discussing the likelihood of it arriving. This is just the final 30mins to get the “prize”.

        1. And, l would argue that here is a difference between lazily window shopping for a bargain and pouncing leopard like on an obvious pricing error. A pricing error is not a deal, this page is not called Pricing Error Alert, it is called Deal Alert.
Yes, l know Bezos is an arse, but would you do the same in a high street record shop? That would be, in Neil’s immortal phrase ‘tantamount to stealing really’.

          1. The Synchronicity “deal” is just under half the current retail price. It’s not £7.49 like a typo would normally be. It isn’t a high street shop, it is a highly successful hundreds of billions dollar business, that pays very little tax and pays very low wages to most of its staff. From my experience, I don’t think many people on the page make any distinction between a “deal” and a “pricing error” with any of the big retailers. In the past Paul himself has highlighted items like the pre-release double vinyl Abba Ring Ring Half Speed Master on this page for about £14, which was a maybe a “pricing error” as it was very cheap, but not £1.40 cheap. In the Abba instance everyone got their orders cancelled pronto. They could have cancelled everyone’s Synchronicity orders, anytime in the past 3 months since they spotted the “error” and they took the Japan Synchronicity off sale. But no, they’ve left everyone’s orders in abeyance, which is very poor customer service and then given many some bunkum about “imminent release”, so some people have waited in vain for a long time. We as an online community have tried to help one another resolve this by sharing info. If anyone feels morally uncomfortable and wishes to make a distinction between a “deal” and a “pricing error”, that’s their right to pass and not partake.

          2. A most unsatisfactory response, RG. Harassing Bezos’ worker drones for months on end, and exchanging tips on how to corner the poor blighters into closing this fanciful deal is not going to make Amazon pay one more rupee in tax. And my question, which you did not answer, was ‘would you do the same in a high street shop?’ not ‘please explain to me the difference between Amazon and my local music shop’, which l already know.

          3. Venom, I was trying to be helpful to some people having difficulties with an order I’d also had difficulties with. Some people found my comment helpful I think. If you weren’t interested, you could have scrolled past.
I contacted Amazon, only after patiently waiting 3 months, did so politely and I got a partial refund and full resolution. The staff are dealing with customers 24/7 for all sorts of reasons. I’m sure they don’t care if people are polite, as soon as they finish with me, there’s another customer waiting.
And the high street store conundrum? If I was in a store and an item was priced at £29 and they charged me £75, that would be illegal for them to do and anyway I’d refuse to buy it if I noticed. If I didn’t notice, they’d have to refund the difference or accept the item back and give a me full refund for overcharging. If it was £29 and they said, “you can’t buy it, it’s mispriced”, that would be their prerogative, just as Amazon could have cancelled my £29 order 3 months ago, when they potentially spotted an “error”, but they didn’t, they left it hanging. What followed was their call.
Can we just agree to differ here and stop people having to read this stuff?

          4. I think that many”readers” (hello, Chris) would have enjoyed untangling this argument, RG. I certainly have.

  18. Gary Crowley’s Punk & New Wave 2 (6LP / Signed Box set) for £34.02
Arthur Baker Presents Dance Masters – Arthur Baker (6LP / Signed Box set) for £38.12
Jesus Jones: Some Of The Answers (15 CD / Signed Box set) for £53.66
    …on Amazon UK

  19. Bit of a strange one this, on Amazon uk in my browsing history Jethro Tulls heavy horses (new shoes edition) box set shows up as a limited time deal for £43.63. and if I click on it that’s the price to buy. however if I type in the title it shows up as £55 in the Amazon browser. Anyway for anyone interested @£43 is a good price it’s been £60 recently.

  20. I see the Pixies 8CD Live in Brixton set can now be found for under £10 on ebay from several sellers.

Has anyone ever seen anything plummet in price like this set has? Is it just because of the issue of the book having some pages in the wrong order? Or did it just not sell at all?

    1. I’ve just bought a copy for under £7 off ebay, which almost seemed too good to be true… until it arrived. Deal of the year. I can certainly live with the cocked-up pagination in the booklet at that price :)

  21. Decent price on the 4CD Electribe 101: Electribal Memories set signed by Billie Ray Martin on Amazon UK, down to £22.48.

    Also
Tina Turner Queen Of Rock N Roll 3CD is £7.99
Haim – Days Are Gone 10th Anniversary 2CD is £6.49
    The Clash – Combat Rock + People’s Hall 2CD is £7.75
Tom Petty’s Live At The Fillmore 1997 4CD is £36
    David Hepworth’s Deep 70s 4CD is £19
Brian May’s Back To The Light 2CD/LP is £19
Eric Clapton – Eric Clapton 50th Anniversary 4CD is £14
Rolling Stones – A Bigger Bang Live On Copacabana Beach 2CD/2BR is £14

    1. Surprisingly this arrived today after being on back order and £50 cheaper than elsewhere but HMV sent it and arrived pristine and very happy customer here.

  22. On FNAC.fr the deluxe (cds + bluray) Aphrodites Child – 666 is only 31 euros.
They send within Europe I don’t know if they do worldwide shipping. But the price is great.

    1. I have ordered from them a few times and have been amazed at how quickly I’ve received the items here in the USA. Sometimes, as quick as THREE days.

    2. Bugger I missed this as it is no longer available. However, E Leclerc have it listed at 32.99 euros. Haven’t researched further re postage etc, but thought I would add this asap.

  23. The Durutti Column – Vini Reilly 35th Anniversary 3CD/DVD + Mini CD set is £23 on Amazon UK

    Plus
Bowie – Divine Symmetry CD box is £82
Eric Clapton – Eric Clapton 50th Anniversary 4CD is £17

  24. Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons…..Working Our Way Back To You – Deluxe Boxset ….currently on Amazon UK at £174.99!! Was near the £300 mark on release if memory serves me right

  25. New Order: Education Entertainment Recreation – Live 2-CD + Blu-ray $22 on AMZ US (44% off $40 list price)
    Marillion: Misplaced Childhood 2017 4-CD + Blu-ray $35 on AMZ US (38% off $56 list price)
    Def Leppard: Pyromania 2024 4-CD + Blu-ray $73 on AMZ US (27% off $100 list price)

  26. Just picked up Peter Gabriel I/O 2CD and Blu Ray ( that’s bright side, dark side and inside mixes) for £12.24 from Amazon Uk, I thought at that price it’s definitely worth a punt and look forward to listening

  27. Just been on to Amazon uk to have a moan about the police Synchronicity cd box more in curiosity than anything else, after being told still not in stock, dont know when it will be available. I told the bloke it was available everywhere else but at a much higher price after a bit of back and forth i was then offered a £70 gift card after he checked the listing on the Amazon site and came back with the vinyl box which was listed at £99 to cover the balance as a good will gesture which i will put to the Dylan box coming out in a few weeks RESULT

      1. I rang them, took a while to speak to a human, here’s the text they sent me after the conversation

        Hello,
I’m Piyush from Amazon Customer Service.

We appreciate your patience in reaching us. As discussed, We have added £70.00 to your amazon gift card.
Please allow amazon 24 hours to process it.

If needed you can reach us by chat or phone from this link: https://www.amazon.co.uk/contact-us If you need to call us, we can be reached on Free-phone (within the UK) +44 (0)800 279 7234.
If there is still something that I missed to mention or I could still do to make things easier for you, please let me know.

Take care and have a brilliant week ahead

        1. Thanks bill63,

I rang them today and was told they can’t fulfil it because:
it’s supplied by a third party – no it isn’t. Followed by:
it’s supplied by amazon Europe and not available in the UK. – I pointed out I’d had many packages bought in Europe fulfilled by amazon UK.
This led to a quick discussion with their senior, and then I was told they will supply it and it is coming into stock in the UK on October 9th.
I wasn’t offered or pressed for a gift voucher.

          Regards,

    1. Well done. I tried that on Saturday and was told they can cancel the order and I can buy it elsewhere as it was freely available. I pointed out the cost difference and Amazon more or less said tough luck that’s your problem!!!

    2. So, I rang Amazon customer service on the 0800 number; got through in under one minute.
After about 5 minutes back and forth, I was told that I will be getting the Police/Synchronicity 6CD box (ordered in June for £25), and that a confirmation email will arrive within 72 hours.
They also gave me a £10 Gift Card credit for the inconvenience.
Who knows what’ll happen, but the tenner has gone on the Peter Gabriel i/o 2CD/BR, currently at £11.42.

      1. Might be that it slipped outside the 3 month window that seems to be the default display of your past orders? Click on the “Not yet dispatched” tab.

    3. I’ve been chasing Amazon too, more in hope than expectation. A week ago I was promised I would receive notice of shipping within 24 hours. My scepticism proved correct as nothing changed.
Today I contacted Amazon again, to be told there was no stock available. But I was invited to order the UK version and assured that I would receive a refund that means I get it for the £29 originally offered. I have to claim that after tomorrow’s delivery. If that works I’ll be delighted. I’ll provide an update.

        1. My UK copy of the box set arrived. I initiated the refund process and I just received the same, Bjorkestral.
So, is it just me and you who got (a version of) this deal? I hope there are some other winners.

          1. Had to give it a try after reading all this + used chat: immediate result! They cancelled the old order, I ordered the £75 version and they refund the difference (c.£45.00) to my debt card. Very smooth.

          2. I had tried using the telephone and kind of didn’t get anywhere as I was unable to share links. I tried again using the chat, asking to chat to an assistant. Then I used a link to the the £74.99 in stock 6CD Box Set (pasted in the chat) , saying “same picture, same item” and “in stock”. They said they would cancel my old order (keep a screenshot of it with the price before they cancel it), then I screenshot the chat also. I asked them to put something in the “post chat email” about “reorder at £74.99 and they refund the difference” which they did. When the £74.99 one arrived, I replied to the CS email re the cancelled “cheap” order quoting new £74.99 order number, asking for a £45.60 refund to my payment card and attaching screenshots of the chat and the cheap order. Sit and wait for a few hours and get the partial refund to my card. Excellent. It was worth THEM cancelling (not me) and getting the “buy in” for me reordering etc on this refund partial premise. This Synchronicity one has been odd in that normally THEY cancel the order unilaterally, but this one has been hanging for 3 months.

    4. I’m glad you had a good result, I spoke with them but met a brick wall, they kept repeating they were awaiting stock from their supplier . I was given the options of waiting or cancelling the order

      1. Same. I was told that the box set will ‘definitely’ be coming into stock in the next 1 to 2 weeks. We’ll see. I won’t hold my breath. What sort of response you get seems to depend on who answers the phone and what day it is!

        1. Had a bizzare experience with them. Yes rang up and chap on other end said he’d refund difference; just had to cancel original first and reorder the £75 one. Did and arrived next day brilliant…. but no refund. Rang up again and was told but very sorry we cant and don’t do them – not sure they completely understood the exact issue as only wanted the difference refunded.
Another one or two calls and same response even though I said the chap had promised that I would be refunded balance.
Anyway think another call was made and they weren’t budging.
So sent a strong email outlining the exact promise made to me and how I was treated by them and threatened to social it. Got an email next day apoligising and offered a full, yes full refund on the item with them saying at the bottom that it was a defective item. I was of course happy but thats not what I had sought and felt a little bad for them. No, I didn’t follow up with a “you gave me back too much”.

  28. Now Yearbook vinyl set is down to £28.99 on Amazon.uk currently.
Just finished cd1 of Yearbook 87 which arrived today – excellent, may be the best yet!

    1. Correction – as Richard S points out HMV have quite a few Now Yearbook vinyls down to £29.99 from £35 (typically), though 1974 is a particularly good one I think!

  29. For anyone interested in the US: Classical Centerstage Store us selling off 4Lp heavy vinyl box set Voyager Essential Max Richter for USD 49.89 plus 10.00 shipping. Discogs and ebay listings are around 150.00. Mine just arrived via FedEx. Handnumbered 2404 of 2500.

  30. If anybody missed the Ultravox lament SDE on cd on rarewaves (sold out) Chalkys on ebay has a 10% discount code which brings it to just under £60

    1. Thanks a lot for this. Was waiting for the rarewaves 10% offer but they were out of stock. Today is the last day to get new Nectar vouchers to use on ebay so cashed in a couple of those for an extra saving. Memories of long ago buying the cassette of Lament around it’s release and delighting in the extra remixes, never imagined then this sort of package.

  31. HMV are again doing their occasional NOW Yearbook price reduction. Most (apart from the latest ones) are down in price. Extras, deluxes etc. Looks like Amazon UK are copying them as just picked up 1988 & 1990 extras for £6.99.

    1. I’ve seen quite a lot of these going for similar (or a bit more) prices on Amazon from 3rd parties. Is this just not selling so well and shops are offloading stock to the discounters?

    1. Weird I was just wondering if there was going to be one of those happening soon. Finally decided to go for the Rusty Egan Blitzed package for £35.

  32. UK I-Tunes – Slade’s All the World’s a Stage (5 live albums) is only £7.99 – chance to check out if you want to buy the physical box set or stand alone albums.

    1. By that same token, if you’re jumping onto the Oasis reunion train but can’t be bothered with the physical copies, you can get the digital (FLAC) deluxe 20th anniversary remastered versions of Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory on 7 Digital UK for £3.49 each.

That Definitely Maybe one is the same remaster that’s being used on the 30th anniversary version that’s out today.

  33. I think I have learned my lesson now, just wait 4 to 8 weeks, and the prices will come down. Its not like I don’t have anything else to listen to now. Being patient pays off.

I paid way too much for Mind Games and Synchronicity, compared to what I could have had them for now.

    1. Yeah I think sometimes it depends on who it is, if it’s someone I’m a big fan of and have the money to get it I’ll pull the trigger so I get why you got Mind Games and Synchronicity straight away but more or often than not I’ll play the waiting game which paid off for the Prince Diamonds and Pearls box set where I got it for £68 and the Nirvana In Utero 30th which I think I got for around £80 which in both cases meant I waited almost a year to get them at that price but my waiting paid off as both were over £150 when 1st released.

    2. It’s a lesson we’ve all learned at one point or another.

It’s incredibly likely that both of those sets will drop another 20-30% within 12 months too. There are only a few artists whose boxes consistently hold their value anywhere near the launch price if you’re willing to wait long enough.

    1. Still waiting too I’m afraid. Status just says “we”ll email you when available”. For some reason I feel there may still be a chance they will fulfil this though, as when there has been similar mad prices for things in the past, they’ve always sent a cancellation email by now explaining there was an error etc. This hasn’t happened. But who knows……

        1. I contacted Amazon today about my unfulfilled Police order. They said it is not coming and have cancelled the order and given me £10 credit.

          1. I contacted them with the same question and was told not available and not sure if would be back in stock.
A £5 credit voucher was issued due to the inconvenience caused.

    2. I ordered then cancelled twice when I realised that like Paul said it wasn’t going to happen regrettably. I’m going to keep my scanners peeled (as Michael Knight would have said to KITT) for a reduction in the UK box set which will happen over time.

    3. I have just spoken to Amazon and they contacted their dispatch department and they told me the item will be with me in the next 48 hours. I will let you know if it does actually arrive.

      1. Very cool Alan . Did you have to argue at all? Or was it just an enquiry and they straight away said it’ll ship in 48 hours? I’m just curious. Please do let us know if you have any luck.

        1. Just an enquiry, the agent said that the item was now in stock. Still no movement yet as in that no money taken from my bank account as yet so not holding my breath on actually getting it.

  34. 3 big box sets from this summer on sale on Amazon.com:

    1. Def Leppard Pyromania $75
    2. John Lennon Mind Games $96
    3. The Police Synchronicity $82
  35. The 3CD 50th Anniversary edition of Bob Marley’s Catch A Fire is down to £9.94 on Amazon UK

New Order’s Definitive Editions box sets of Power Corruption & Lies (LP/2CD/2DVD) and Movement (LP/2CD/DVD) are both sub £80 on there too.

  36. NOW 12″80s 1982 Part 1 (4 x CD) is down to £4.50 at the moment on Amazon UK. I bouth it yesterday at just over £6! Seems like the sellers are trying to out-do each other on lowest price!
£4.50 is from 3rd party seller Global Deals.

      1. The Amazon price i posted was through global deals, it must have sold out through them as they’re now paired with techrina and the price is up to £54.70.

      2. Sometimes you have to look under “Other sellers on Amazon” but in this case it looks as if the deal is finished. When this happens it is sometimes worth looking on eBay too just in case the seller is spreading stock over the two market places, but again it seems you are out of luck in this instance.

  37. Trouble no more box set arrived this morning, in new sealed condition and no dings, that completes my Dylan bootleg series (’til “the Villager” is released which is said to be the next in the series)

        1. Interesting. I received a price-error cancellation/refund notice this morning, and so did a few other US customers. The deal was still up after I got the notice. I’m kinda annoyed about that.

          1. It’s about 100.00 on amazon.com currently. Chalks cancelled my order as well here in the US.

    1. I received the following email from Chalkys
“Unfortunately, there has been an error with this item and we have sold this item at the incorrect price.
We are currently investigating how this has happened, however this unfortunately does mean that we will have to cancel this order and refund you for this item.
      Kind regards,
      Chalkys Customer Service”

      1. sounds ominous – not had my shipping confirmation yet though they’ve taken my money – will now expect the inevitable cancellation/refund email. :(

        1. refund email received – I suspect that Chalkys had an inventory of a certain number of copies and anyone who ordered when they had those copies got one and they bit the bullet – any that needed to be ordered from the distributor will have got the ‘Dear John’ email and had the order cancelled. Never mind sometimes things are too good to be true!

    2. Really good find, thank you. Was sold out but came back last night and now sold out again.

This sort of pricing rather than been seen as a great bargain should really bring in the conversation about how pricing is done. Is the unsaid profit line for the record company/retailer around £80 (a RRP in effect) but they start out at £120 to see if people will bite then after initial interest it drops to £80 and then to £40 to cover costs.
McCartney’s The Lyrics started out at RRP £80 and is now £45. It will only go above £80 if it becomes a rare book. Why have box sets not got a RRP?

  38. For anyone still wanting Bob Dylan’s trouble no more 8cd + dvd box set, a seller on eBay is offering new sealed copies for £60 or make an offer, I offered £50 and they accepted it (£2.87 p+p). The seller is fastsales365 and I believe there’s 2 boxes left. Another seller is selling Dylan’s springtime in New York 5cd box sealed for £40 post free

    1. Ordered mine from AMZ US and it was sent in a thin bag but the box set itself was packaged in the original sturdy cardboard box the manufacturer uses to ship to stores etc. Not ideal but not too risky.

  39. Hi Paul Sinclair & SDE Readers & Commentators,
I’m an OCD Collector of too many artists & tend to never getting around to even opening most of the many box sets that I have purchased, let alone having the time to listen to them. Most of my CD listening is in my car & with physical CDs on my car’s factory installed CD player. POB is my favrite JL album & I own both the POB & Imagine Boxes & have Never opened them. I do Not have a Blu-ray player & never play DVDs. In addition, I have tons of old John bootleg CDs & LPs from years ago.
I’m still confused re: the extra/bonus/unlisted/hidden trax, especially “I’m The Greatest” & maybe “R+R People”, however Y r they Not listed above on any of SDE’s comprehensive song titles of all versions of the CD & LP versions above???
It does Not make sense to me to release 6 CDs of just different versions of the same 12 songs. They might as well have included a 7th Cd w/12 instrumental versions. Why would they not simply compile all these non-original trax &/or jams on a single CD??
Unfortunately, that is what I would want to hear first. Perhaps there is/was not enough of this material?
Is “I’m The Greatest” & most of the other on the 6-CD/2 Blu-ray version, somewhere on the 6 CDs???
On Amazon reviews, I had seen several complaints re: the non-existence & non-tracking of “these extra cuts.”
R they or r they Not listed in the book or on the included track-list within the box???
Were there mistakes in the manufacturing, printing of artwork, &/or song-listing???
The SDE photo above, which I’m assuming is the back cover of the box seems to show the same 6 x 12-song CDs.
Eventually, I was going to buy the 2-LP version, which a few days ago dropped to $39.50 on Amazon, & probably the 2-CD version. Amazon has dropped the box set to $98.01, so I guess I should just shut up & buy it, as it’s probably worth it 4 the sake of the book & all 6 CDs (& the poster+card, which r also incl in the 2-LP version, too)…
Sorry 4 all my stupid repetitive questions & 4 wasting your time!
    Thank U Very Much, G!
(ps: An hour ago, I made this same post to the original SDE Mind Games release alert email from 5/15, however I’m pasting it here in case nobody sees it there & responds 4 a while, if ever , because it’s now 3 months later…)

    1. I don’t know all the answers to your questions. I ordered the massive deluxe box myself but that is still being shipped. I also ordered the 6cd regular box version. That’s coming later today. Going to dive in and see what I can find. I’m not really bothered by “I’m The Greatest” I do have to say but if I stumble on it, I’ll let you know

      1. Kauwgompie, THANK U! I ended up ordering the 6-CD+2-BluRay from Amazon 4 $98. -G!
ps: Read Rich G’s reply to me, just below yours, re: “I Am The Greatest”, & the hidden trax…

    2. I think the “extra” tracks are all on the CDs. For instance “I Am The Greatest” is accessed by starting disc 1, then rewinding back from Track 1 about 3mins or so. It’s basically there “before” the CD starts. Others are hidden after silent tracks, a bit like they did in the 90s with World Party’s Bang or Stones Roses’ Second Coming. It’s a bit of an annoying gimmick rather than just listing on running order. This box has made me like Mind Games more and there are some good remixes and demixes showing elements. About half would take repeat listening, maybe about half are more for one off interest to see development. There aren’t loads of bonus songs beyond versions of ones that made the original album. I now think Mind Games is about 7/10 as an album, rather than maybe 5/10 I’d have said before this box. If you’re a fan, get it, or maybe take the risk and pick up for £50 in 6 months, unless being a more “minor” album the print run is smaller? You can always try before you buy on streaming services.

      1. Rich G, I ordered the 6-CD/2-BluRay Box from Amazon @$98. I’ll open the box, play CD 1 & follow your “Rewind Instructions” & hopefully get to hear “I Am The Greatest” be4 “Mind Games”!
        THANX MUCH, G!

  40. The Mind Games box on Amazon.com is ping-ponging all over the place. The first month it was $167, then $99, yesterday $149 and today $139. So if you missed the $99 deal, keep checking, it will probably come back. It even may go lower than $99. I study these prices a lot and this box is behaving like George Michael’s Older which was a frequent flyer in this deal section. It hit around $75 several times.

    1. If there was a RRP like there is for most things we buy this would not be a problem. Buyers of SDE physical music are being taken for a ride.

  41. Elvis Presley’s ‘Elvis Memphis’ 5-CD boxset is still € 28,71 at Amazon.it. I ordered it yesterday and got a message today that it will be delivered tomorrow (in the Netherlands). For that price I didnt have to think twice. :)

        1. He of the Vincent Price Set. Didn’t he do a song with Alice Cooper, whose favorite Animal was The Fly? Could be Tommy Cooper.
Or it could be you’ve gone through the looking glass, Dean.

  42. Thank you so much Paul for the info on the Mind Games box set. I had ordered in (in Canada) from uDiscoverMusic for $265 (Cdn) on July 26. It was to be shipped on July 28, then August 2, then August 5, 9, 12, 15, 16… you get the picture. Then I saw your bargain on Amazon.com. Interestingly, Amazon.ca was no great deal at $242 Cdn. But I snapped up the Amazon.com deal for $99 U.S. and it could be sent to Canada for just another $15 U.S. or so for shipping AND customs/duty clearance. I’d have paid the same if I drove across the border to pick it up. I cancelled the order from uDiscoverMusic (which was the “preferred” outlet for sale) where it was still on backorder, and my Amazon order has been shipped and is set to arrive tomorrow, even dealing with the border. Two days between “click” and own! Great job on getting the information out to people like me.

  43. Not strictly speaking a boxset but a pretty lavish digibook is the Dune Part Two soundtrack CD by Hans Zimmer which has finally dropped to a reasonable price on Amazon (UK at least). It includes what is arguably one of Zimmer’s finest tunes “A Time of Quiet Between the Storms”. Ordered mine today whether it’ll arrive in one piece/un-pinged is debateable though but that’s Amazon packaging for you…

  44. I wonder if these deals are actually deals, or if the original price was simply too high and now, due to a lack of sales, they are giving in a little.

    1. It’s fifty fifty with Amazon pre-order prices, sometimes you can get a bargain like the Ultravox Lament boxset for 63 sovs (not currently mind) but other times it’s scalping levels. Then you have to factor in their p*ss poor packaging and the highly likely risk of a damaged product. I have two items arriving today, one a very heavy hardback book and the other bog rolls, odds are they’ll package the rolls like Fort Knox and the book in a flimsy jiffy bag…

    2. A good way to gage that is going to importcds.com if you are in the US and see what they sell it for. They always offer the absolute lowest prices. Ming Games was $105 at importcds.com. So I figured $99 with free shipping is as good as it gets for the next year or so. I think Rarewaves in the UK is kinda like importcds.com in the US, although their prices are not always the lowest.

  45. let us not forget that The Stranglers have their 50 Years In Black – The Anniversary Tour 2024 out on Friday 16th. Comprising of tracks from each of their concerts held during their recent UK tour, i think that is a nice little touch. out on triple gold vinyl or double cd from their website

  46. The John Lennon deal is over now but Amazon USA does have a habit of increasing and decreasing the prices of certain box sets like ping pong balls. George Michael’s Older and the Keith Richard boxes come to mind. I wouldn’t be surprised if the $99 returns. I’m glad I jumped this morning. Got it in the bag for $99. The music is incredible. I listened to the Atmos mix on my new Beats Studio Pro headphones, it sounded amazing. I highly recommend it and I’m not even a fan of 60’s and 70’s music. The remix is incredibly well done.

  47. I had a look at Mind Games, and although the $99 looks good, it goes up to £105 once you add VAT and delivery, so it is not (too) much cheaper than the UK. I had a look at what I’d spent on the other 10 inch box sets (which are now very expensive) and it was £36 for Imagine from JPC (bargain!) , £86 for Plastic Ono Band (similar disc count) and £45 for Gimme Some Truth. I’m going to hang on for sub-£90 I think, but I’m worried there won’t be as many of this one pressed, so it’s all a gamble again!

    1. Keep in mind those prices were pre inflation era. By the way I think I bought Imagine on the same JPC deal. I remember it well. Those prices won’t return. I think realistically Mind Games will settle around $100-$110 in the US. Importcds.com already sells it for $105 on a daily basis. It’s on backorder now but they will likely get a fresh supply again soon.

  48. Currently, Amazon.com US has the deluxe edition of Van Halen For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge 2 LP/2CD/1BD 40% off at about $60.00 USD. Ship and sold through Amazon.com

  49. I was playing the waiting game for the last month on the Mind Games box, to see if it would ever drop in price. It never budged at all, so I finally paid $140 for it two days ago (new and sealed) through an eBay merchant I have bought from before. And now its down to $99. Missed opportunity.

      1. The “waiting game” goes up to a year, sometimes longer. I’m a pro at it now. Never pre-order or get swept away in excitement and purchase shortly after release unless you don’t care to pay more and want your favorite artist asap in your cd/dvd/blu-ray player. Only time I missed out was with Depeche Mode “Mode” box. Must have saved several thousand dollars over the years. Waiting is worth it. Currently playing the waiting game on the new Ferry box. Apparently that is very limited. I believe it when I see it. JPC was sold out and they are now selling it again, just like everywhere else.

        1. Mind Games has been out for almost five weeks. I was concerned that if I waited too long, I would miss out and it would be out of print.

However, based on your experiences (waiting as much as a year), I should give these things in the future more time.

          1. As ‘Mind Games’ certainly isn’t an album that will attract lots of casual buyers i think that there’s a good chance that the SDE will significantly drop in price over the next year, maybe as early as x-mas but most certainly when the summer of 2025 comes along.

          2. A good way to gage if it goes out of print are the previous Lennon boxes. All 3 are still easily available although the first one, Imagine, is starting to show signs of slowly getting out of print. And then the question is always, will they print more which in Lennon’s case is always possible. Gimme Some Truth was sold out on Amazon and 2 months later they had plenty again and still do. So that was probably another print.

  50. While in the UK the Mind Games 6CD + 2Blu-ray deluxe set has reduced from £129.99 to …… £129.98 on Amazon UK! Hopefully the UK site will follow the US one un due course …

    1. Thanks for the heads up ! Iv been waiting for this to drop in price,my favourite lennon album ,instant buy, just wish he would release london town and back to the egg soon!

      1. An sde reader walks into a bar, sees a barman in an Amozan t-shirt, sidles up to him and says “I hear you’ve got some high quality Japanese box sets for £30?”
The barman says “don’t go spreading it around but wait over there and I’ll see what I can do.”
A bit later an sde resident walks into the same bar, spots the barman’s t-shirt and asks the same question. The barman says in surprise “wherever did you hear that? Hmm. Wait over there, I’ll see what I can do”.
Later still, an sde fanatic comes into the same bar, turns off his Walkman and also asks the barman the same question. The barman, now slightly annoyed, says “this is getting a bit out of hand! Go and wait over there and I’ll see what I can do.
A whole month later, Sting storms into the bar, grabs the barman by the collar and says in a threatening voice “Oi mate – I’ve just heard that you’re selling my latest box set for a ridiculously low price! What’s going on?”
The frightened barman says “ it’s alright Mr Sting, nothing to worry about – they’re all waiting over there – 700 of them now. They’ve not actually got the box set, I’ve not actually taken any money, and you’ve not got the sales you were expecting. That’s Synchronicity for you!”

        1. We really are a bunch of idiots aren’t we? Realistically, no one is ever going to retail a $200+ item for 20 bucks, we all know that. Yet we fall for it every time.
And at least three of us cannot spot satire.
