Out This Week / 9 September 2013
The Clash / Sound System and 5 Studio Albums boxes
A 12-disc box set, a two-disc hits collection (on vinyl and CD) and a Studio Albums box set (also on vinyl and CD) mean that this is an expensive day for the ‘must have everything’ Clash fan.
Madonna / MDNA World Tour (2CD+DVD)
The material girl’s high-grossing world tour from last year is issued on a variety of formats, including a 2CD+DVD set.
Rod Stewart / Rarities (2CD set)
A new 24-track, two-CD collection of Rod Stewart rarities from his Mercury Records era (1969 to 1974).
Various Artists / Woodstock: 40 Years On Back To Yasgur’s Farm (6CD set)
This reissued and repackaged 6CD set, celebrating the most famous music festival of them all, is incredible value at less than £20.
The Band / The Last Waltz (4CD set)
The Band‘s memorable 1976 thanksgiving concert featured a galaxy of rock stars including Eric Clapton, Neil Diamond, Bob Dylan, Dr. John, Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, Muddy Waters, and Neil Young. This is a repackaged and great value 4CD version.
Sheryl Crow / Feels Like Home
Sheryl Crow follows up her 2010 covers album 100 Miles From Memphis, with this new country offering (recorded in Memphis) featuring songwriting collaborations across all 12 tracks on the record.
Nick Drake / Five Leaves Left (Vinyl Box Set)
Nick Drake‘s 1968 debut gets the vinyl box set treatment and is finally out today after the proposed summer release date came and went.
Mott The Hoople / All The Young Dudes
Mott The Hoople‘s 1972 album was their fifth. Luckily for them, David Bowie gifted them the well-known title track, and stepped in to produce the record too. This is a heavyweight, Music On Vinyl reissue.

I don’t like Madonna new concert, except 2 or 3 songs (Celebration, Nobody Knows Me & Girl Gone Wild). Sound on bluray is also pretty horrible just like track listing for that tour. Even old songs like ‘Open your Heart & ‘Like A Virgin’ are ruined by Madonna with bad arrangements.
In addition a pop up Black Market Clash shop has opened at 75 Berwick Street, Soho, London. I made my way there through the rain today. The box set, individual albums, badges, postcards, T shirts, posters and Zippo-style lighters all on sale. Downstairs there is a great exhibition of posters and apparently original T shirts and Joe Strummer boiler suits. Might go back and get a couple of posters when not pouring with rain though interesting London Calling not available. I emailed Snap Galleries recently and Pennie Smith charges £4,800 for 16×20 copies of that picture!
As for Cut The Crap, I would be ashamed to buy that having had to keep Nick Sheppard quiet before class in my role as a prefect, also had The Pop Group’s Mark Stewart in the same class!
Just received my Nick Drake – ‘Five Leaves Left’ box set and was curious as to why the label on the vinyl is a very dark pink/red colour and a different design to to the one featured in the preview video and photos.
Also it is not a clamshell box but a lift-off lid as per the previous two sets.
