thelot2

Roger Taylor will issue a massive 13-disc box set in November that celebrates his 35 years of activity outside of his ‘day job’ in Queen.

The Lot features all Taylor’s solo albums and his material as front man for the group The Cross. Four bonus CDs of solo / The Cross single remixes, edits and B-sides are included, as is an exclusive box set version of his new album Fun On Earth. A DVD of videos completes the set, which comes packaged in a hard case slipcase with a book which holds all the discs.

The Lot is released on 11 November 2013.

  1. A lot of typos and wrong info, plus many audio and video issues:

    Disc Errors:
1.) Track index marker error on track 9 of Shove It.
2.) Pressure On (Electric Fire): wrong mix. No 2nd voice for half of the first chorus. (01:58 – 02:07)
3.) Wrong running order of FOE bonus tracks: “Whole House Rockin'” plays first, “Dear Mr. Murdoch” comes second.
4.) There are some complaints of juddering video on the DVD
5.) Life Changes (Blue Rock) the song suddenly stops, and then the first seconds of the song start again.
6.) Shove It (extended mix) with track duration 5:02 should have been on ‘The Cross Singles 1’ disc, but instead it has ‘The 2nd Shelf Mix’ with track duration 5:55.
7.) I Can’t Get You Out Of My Head unfortunately has count-in chords badly edited out, causing a slight cut to the beginning of the song.
8.) Celebration is abridged version. 1:45-2:25 fragment of the original 5:15 track is edited out.
9.) Track index marker error on track 3 of Happiness.

    Text Errors:
1.) The lyrics to the first four songs of Electric Fire are missing in the book (it starts with “People on streets”)
    2.) Incorrect spelling of ‘Holocaust’
3.) The credits from ‘Blue Rock’ are directly taken from Discogs.com , including the (2) suffix for Peter Noone and the ANV-asteriks for Josh Macrae
4.) Wrong information – The book states Dear Mr Murdoch originally featured on the 1994 album “Electric Fire”.
5.) In his foreword, final sentence, Rhys talks about a “cole” instead of “collection”.
6.) In the track listing of the Cross-singles, last track (Shove it US), it is stated that the inclusion is a last minute “edition” instead of “addition”.
7.) The DVD notes incorrectly state that both versions of the “Power to Love” video are included (or perhaps one is actually missing from the disc?)

  2. from Roger Taylor’s official Facebook page:

MESSAGE ABOUT THE LOT BOX SET.

We are aware that there are issues with some box sets which have been received and we are investigating this as a matter of importance.

A follow up announcement will be posted very soon.

  3. Received my box on friday (Germany!), and while it looks great, there’s indeed loads of mistakes in the book and on the discs. Shame!
Looks like it’s been withdrawn now, possibly due to the errors?? (So maybe us lucky few over here may have got something very rare??)

  4. It seems that are a number of faults on the first batch of these – track splits, edits, wrong mixes, a faulty DVD and half the lyrics missing from the Electric Fire album in the booklet. It’s currently unavailable to order from Amazon U.K. which is annoying as it was due for dispatch and delivery on Monday. Another quality product from Queen Productions!

  5. It’s missing the “short promotional film”, i.e. the “music video” for “I Wanna Testify”! That’s a classic and reminiscent of “Bohemian Rhapsody”! This was proof that Roger had a solo track released before any other members of Queen YEARS earlier!

  6. 13 discs, that’s not even 8 pounds per disc. And that’s not even including the hardback book. Definitely worth the money, especially when compared to boxes like the Daft Punk one, the new Velvet Underground one (3 discs for 60 pounds?!) etc. Shame there’s not much “new” stuff, but still great to see CD-quality versions of tracks like Manipulator, Two Sharp Pencils and I Wanna Testify.

    1. Missing two live at Shepherds Bush Empire ’94 tracks that were on the ‘Happiness’ single, ‘Ride The Wild Wind’ and ‘I Want To Break Free’.
Apart from that it seems complete. One for the Christmas wish list I think.

    2. It’s not bad value for money by any means, but not everyone would want to shell out that much in one go, which is the point being made I think. Some of us prefer to build collections one at a time, or even choose which albums from an act’s catalogue we wish to buy.

  7. Do we know if the individual albums will be reissued as well? They’ve been out of print and/or expensive for a long time. Would love to have some of the bonus disc content too, but £100 in one go for a non-hardcore fan is a bit steep!
