T Rex / “Tanx” and “Zinc Alloy” 4CD+DVD deluxe book

deluxe

Demon Music will issue a special limited edition five-disc T Rex deluxe package in March 2014. This new collection features the albums Tanx (1973) and Zinc Alloy and the Hidden Riders of Tomorrow (1974), both newly remastered by original producer Tony Visconti.

Track listings are not yet available, but judging by previous deluxe editions, and with two CDs allocated per album, we can expect a plethora of non-album singles, b-sides and more. The DVD will include promo videos and TV appearances and the whole thing comes delivered in a 12″ x 12″ hardback book with new notes by Mark Paytress and Tony Visconti.

First 150 get this 7″

Demon are creating 1500 of these sets and selling direct to fans. The first 150 people to place orders get the “Ultimate Fan Bundle” which includes a Tote Bag, digital redemption of the audio content and a special coloured vinyl seven-inch single of Solid Gold Easy Action b/w The Groover in special replica Japanese sleeve.

The “Deluxe Fan Bundle” is the same as above but without the seven-inch single and this is limited to the first 300 pre-orders. After that, all orders revert to ‘just’ the physical Tanx and Zinc Alloy five-disc deluxe edition book. All configurations are priced the same – £59.99.

The other incentive Demon are offering is the chance to get your name printed in the book. It seems if you get your pre-order in before 13th January, this will apply. You can pre-order using the link below or by clicking here. At the time of writing, the three options (Ultimate Fan / Deluxe Fan / Deluxe) outlined above all show individually. Obviously, select the best one available, but once the ‘fan’ versions sell out they will be removed.

Tanx and Zinc Alloy Deluxe Sets/Bundles will ship on 3 March 2014.

  1. How can you call it “Global” pre-order when Australia & the US can’t order from this site? How do we go about ordering? Is there another outlet to go to? Regards

    1. Good point. Apologies, I didn’t realise they didn’t ship outside Europe when that was written. I will update to ‘European” pre-order. No other option exists in terms of ordering this at the present time.

  2. Yesterday I ordered the Boxset.I live in Germany. The shipping costs to Germany are 25 Euros – that around 21 Pounds!Shipping cost are 8,20Euro per item!!!!That says the calculation that I have got via email. If you are living in the UK shipping is free!!!
I cannot understand this system. This boxset will be shipped from the UK from myplaydirect.com . Its the same company like popmarket.com.Shipping from popmarket.com is FREE worldwide!!!

  3. I contacted MyPlay about shipping in North America and apparantly they really don’t ship there, but I was told to check back from time to time as this may change!

      1. Paul – I think the queries on the UM site are just related to Leslie Hannigan’s post re the March reissue of the 2 x cd sets of Beard of Stars and T Rex albums.

I pre-ordered the Tanx/Zinc Alloy SD set as soon as the post went live, a must have!

  4. Hi,

strange they don’t sell this to the States as they will be shipped from The States or Canada.
I have had to pay :
    For the deluxe set : 48 UK pounds / $ 79
    For the shipment : 21 UK pounds / $ 34
    For prepaid customcharges : 13 UK pounds / $ 22

    So grand total was : 82 UK pounds / $ 135 or 99 euros.
I live in Holland – Europe.
Can someone confirm these prices? as I hope they made a mistake with this.
I wanted this set but the extras (post/customs) almost doubled the price.

    1. I don’t think these are being shipped from the US – that tends to be just PopMarket stuff. On the site it says ‘free shipping’..?!

    2. I live in Belgium… too much fees for me ! Sorry !!! (I’ve bought the T.Rex Album + A beard of stars in Deluxe Editions… not half the postal fees !!! can you explain the difference ???)

  5. There are also 2 CD and 2 LP reissues of the ‘A Beard of Stars’ and ‘T. Rex’ albums due in March, along with a couple of limited edition singles.
    See the Universal Music site.

  6. The 7” single that comes with the 1st 150 copies of this package looks great. On the website it says that it is limited to 250 copies worldwide. I wonder what will happen to the other 100 copies?

  7. I will probably order this as well as I am a mega T.rex/Bolan fan.
However I do have some reservations. This is the third T.rex deluxe edition in less than 2 years. I would have preferred them all to be shelf friendly matching sets, instead every set is different.
Furthermore it is a little strange to have two separate albums in the same deluxe package. Still, at least the price is good.
I would have preferred each set to be in the Electric Warrior style packaging, but us Bolan fans know that nothing is simple or straightforward when it comes to T.rex re-issues. It is a lottery at best.
There simply does not seem to be much thought goes onto these projects.

  8. Thanks Paul for the heads up on this one! Looks superb, think i’ll pass having my name printed in the book, nice touch if going to be a gift for someone though. Nice extra of the 7”. Reasonable price too, after the Slider box. Looks essential for fans.

  9. What a fantastic surprise…Two of MARC’S best albums, issued as a book set, with a bunch of rextras…CAN’T WAIT….MARCH IS GONNA BE GRAND!!!!!!!!!!

  10. Am I reading this correctly when I go to purchase? There’s no availability to purchase and/or ship from the US? I don’t see a shipping option available to send this package to the States.

    1. Unfortunately I don’t think Demon have the rights to distribute T Rex in North America. That’s the explanation for not shipping there, I think.
