NewsKiss / Kissteria: Vinyl Road Case / One music box set to rule them all
Mercury Records and UMe have gone beyond the call of duty and created a MASSIVE Kiss vinyl box set to celebrate the band’s 40th Anniversary. Kissteria – The Ultimate Vinyl Road Case will contain 34 vinyl LPs alongside a plethora of memorabilia items.
The vinyl LPs include 19 studio albums, five Alive releases and six exclusive pressings for this box: Double Platinum, Greatest KISS, KILLERS, You Wanted The Best, You Got The Best, Smashes, Thrashes & Hits and KISS Symphony: Alive IV.
All the vinyl packaging will replicate the originals with (where applicable) special features like embossing, sticker sheets, posters, and lenticular covers.
Additional bonus items include twelve large (11”x17”) posters, KISS vinyl cleaning cloth, KISS turntable mat, KISS dominoes set, four band lithos and a numbered certificate of authenticity.
This set is newly remastered and weighs in at almost 50 pounds. It will be shipped in two batches: the Road Case loaded with some of the LPs and the KISS-related merchandise goes out at the end of June and the rest of the LPs, including the ones exclusive to the box, will be send out at the beginning of August.

Sonic Boom missing for a reason?
I think it was on a separate record company. And an independent one at that. None of which means it could not be included but for whatever reason was not. Which is fine.
AFAIK that’s exclusive to Wal-Mart
Apparently Wal-Mart still had/has the exclusive rights to Sonic Boom, and for some reason an agreement between Universal and Wal-Mart could not be made so that Sonic Boom could be remastered and included in the Kissteria Road Case. What a shame — it originally cost about $1,700, and even if Universal had to increase the price by $50 so that Sonic Boom could be included, nobody would have batted an eye.
when hoy in the shade was reissued should have been made a double still poor sound like the original. id take a remastered cd of hits and smashes

I might get the individual vinyl reissue of the first album and Alive II to go with the Universal reissue of Alive that I already have but then that’s me done on the Kiss front I think…

Wow–I count myself as one of their fans and even I think this is a ripoff.
They put on a great show, but does the quality of their recorded material justify this over-the-top, super-expensive box set? I’ll pass.
First we had marbles now we have dominoes. What’s next, a Jethro Tull vinyl discography box that features artwork themed conkers?
There is evidently a label-wide bet going on as to who can produce the most over-priced box set that features a band themed traditional game for no apparent reason.
They should start thinking inside the box rather than outside it at their meetings and then fans won’t be so bemused when they see what extras they are paying for.
KISS doesn’t ever do anything small.

Does look nice! Hopefully the folks who put this project together also focused on quality vinyl as well as sound.
I think the exclusive editions are the titles that haven’t been re-pressed as part of the new individual Kiss remasters that are due for release soon.
Disappointed that with all that cost, they couldn’t stretch to including a complete discography; most obvously they’re missing Sonic Boom, and to a lesser extent the Kiss Klassics/Jigoku-Retsuden album of re-recorded material by the current lineup, and the remixed Destroyer Resurrected.
I have Smashes, Thrashes and Hits on vinyl too Lee. And Double Platinum so I’m not sure how exclusive they are…
What! It’s not even signed! For that money i think i’d want the band to deliver the box personally … Wow, i was only saying that £299 was a bit steep for a deluxe box … Still, for Kiss fans, i hope they have big wallets, does look nice though … ;-)

i am not sure i follow the “exclusive” part of some of the pressings, as i have the vinyl of Smashes, Thrashes & Hits, as i suspect many do.
does this simply mean that the non-exclusives either are or have been reissued on their own anyway?
and wasn’t there a PC game of PsychoCircus?
