  1. Thanks for the round up Paul.
I’ve been looking for the Queen box at a good price so bought it.
I’m a Prime member, but had to sign up again on the Italian site to get the offer, so I’ll have to remember to cancel it when the Box arrives!
    Cheers

  2. The moral crux of the issue; if I sign to Amazon Prime does that financially benefit Clarkson, May & Hammond?

That’s a deal breaker for me I’m afraid.

        1. thanks for letting me know gary. I had seen that mentioned on amazon a while back. now I know that wasn’t just a one off – so I will avoid. shame, cause I’d love it. been wanting it since it was announced. but I’d be upset getting it and then finding it has *faults* … a shame companies go to the trouble producing something this great, then the final execution lets it all down.

  3. I am not a prime member and had nothing against the program until they restricted the purchase of a recent CD single release to Prime members only (US site). This crosses the line for me.

  4. VERY disappointed with the music offerings at the US Amazon site. The only item I’m remotely interested in is the colored vinyl pressing of the new Maxwell album, and it’s only discounted by a measly 15%. Clearly they didn’t care about appealing to the hardcore music fans when they decided what to discount this time.

  5. To me, this prime day was totally crappy, expecially here in italy: the “offers” were quite horrible, giving the idea that they were trying to free some space on their warehouse.
Looking the thing with a positive mind, i saved a few € :D

        1. Agreed, Pipes Of Peace stood out as the anti-deal of the lot. And yet I’d have to guess fairly discounted from an even more abhorrent typical list price?

  6. Just to remind you that Amazon Prime can be cancelled at anytime and you can also pay a monthly fee, rather than the full yearly membership.

Pkease remember to cancel as it automatically re-news after a month/year

  7. I wonder if anyone buying the Elvis box set just because it’s going cheap will listen to each and every one of those 60 CDs?

    1. Doesn’t matter. How many people when they buy a Jamie Oliver cookbook, actually cook all the recipes? Knowing you can try any out at any point is what it’s all about, as well as owning a great physical item (Elvis box, not Jamie Oliver) :)

      1. Once upon a time, felt the compulsion to listen through (devour) everything I purchased to “get my money’s worth”. Every track, in order, no exceptions. An unbearable unenjoyable chore it was. The value is having yourself the option to put any of those albums on at the drop of a hat. Knowing full well in older age you will probably never get round to all.

  8. Also(and i don’t want to be picky) i was cgarged 4.5 euro delivery ,i thought prime was free
did i do something wrong?Iwas in such a rush as there was only 2 mins left on the deal.

  9. Interesting to note that all the real good stuff is coming from Euro Amazon, whilst Amazon Uk serves up a pile of cheap ol’ crap (except for Purple Rain vinyl). EU revenge?!

    1. Simon F, agree, Amazon UK a real let down for physical product music fans. As a Prime customer I had been looking forward to this. Wished I hadn’t wasted time today (even when out and about in York) keeping on checking. At least I managed to bag a 10CC album I hadn’t already got from an actual shop!

      1. The German deals (although many more) weren’t much better. Springsteen + Elvis boxes were good deals and maybe a few others.
Hope some got what they wanted for a good deal though. Personally nothing for me but that is life :)

  10. I ordered the elvis box .Can someone confirm will the 300 page book be in german? if so i need to cancel. Please be quick with an answer.Only occured to me after i ordered. Thanks

          1. Thank you Paul. Iasked because i purchased the serge gainsbourg set via Amazon Italy and the book is in French which is not helpfull as my french is schoolboy at best.

  11. Just purchased Presley box set from Amazon.de. $142 out the door, almost $100 cheaper than Amazon.us price (where I’m located). At less than $3 a disc it qualifies as a steal. My only concern is shipping. I purchased Herbie Hancock and Dylan boxsets from Europe and they both arrived dinged up.

  12. I live in Oz, so I wasn’t going to bother with Prime – it seemed to be mostly music/movie/tv streaming so I didn’t think I could get anything out of it. But after reading other people’s comments about being able to order physical product deals/bargains outside their home country, I’ll keep it in mind for next time.

Of course, I’d still have to pay shipping, but what I’ve ordered from UK Amazon so far has been pretty cheap to ship to Oz – even the Fleetwood Mac ‘Rumours’ Deluxe box set with vinyl! Plus if the deal/bargain is good enough, I won’t mind if the postage is a little high.

  13. Elvis Presley: The RCA Album Collection is on Amazon Germany at €109.97 (45% discount), ending in just over 4 and a half hours (current UK time 12.58).

    1. Paul Mac, yes you can. I think Prime Day is a way to attract new Prime customers. I’ve been on Prime since day 1 in the US and I find it to be of tremendous value. Shipping is zippy and often if you’re not in a hurry, you can elect to ‘downgrade’ your shipping speed in lieu of amazon credits for digital stuff like books or (lossy) music, which I do frequently.

Honestly none of their music deals appeal to me (same with BluRay movies), but I appreciate the desire to get people on Prime using heavy discounts. I did pick up some cat5 cable on discount however. :-)

  14. Prime was great until they threw in video streaming. Before it was under £50, then with the mandatory inclusion of video streaming it jumped 50% to £75. It was at that point I cancelled.

    1. Fair enough, although I think the addition of video, music etc. made Prime much BETTER, despite the increase. But you need a fire TV stick to get the real benefit.

        1. Well, Paul, in my case the Fire TV stick works great. No interruptions or anything. But my smart TV internet connection sucks. So that’s the difference for me personally ;)

  15. Slightly interestingly, the last few things I have received from Amazon UK have ‘Amazon Prime’ sticky tape sealing the box, even though I’m not an Amazon Prime member (nor would I be, I already give Amazon enough of my money! :-)

  16. I have done the same with Canada and BTW Paul, somehow I have managed a free Amazon.co.uk Prime membership and I live in Oz! [Don’t ask me how I have managed to do this, I haven’t a clue for sure: I think I trialled it when I was working in the UK and then they couldn’t charge me because I was back overseas, but didn’t stop the benefits given I didn’t cancel after the trial – it might be an accidental loophole!]

  17. I don’t have prime at present, I had it previously and enjoyed the quick delivery time. May well go for it again in time, I guess a lot depends on their TV offering, the Top Gear thing etc. I suspect there’ll be a big push on prime later in the year when that programme starts. But for now will watch these alerts with interest to see what I may be missing out on.

  18. Just got the Deep Purple vinyl collection from Amazon France.
I’m a UK Prime member, but had to sign-up for the month free trial on the French site (must remeber to cancel).
At less than £10 per album, I’m happy ;-)
Thanks again for the ‘heads-up’ Paul.

    1. I turned my nose up at the Deep Purple box for £54 at HMV Liverpool on the weekend they were running promotions across the board and regretted it upon getting home and seeing the price across various sites. I then trawled the net for a decent price on the box set and I came upon a site called Xtra-vision, I`d never heard of them but they had one Purple box left for £49.50 and free delivery! I decided to risk it thinking I`d never see my money again or the box must be damaged for that price. I was sent a tracking number, it was coming from Dublin, a week later the box arrived in pristine condition, still sealed and all the vinyl nice `n` flat and clean.

      Now that`s what I call a bargain!

      1. Xtravision is part of HMV here in Ireland (a separate company from HMV in the UK). The xtravision arm of the company recently went into liquidation the but the website still operates as part of HMV.

  19. I live in Israel, and once a year I sign up to Prime in the USA for the free 30-days as my ex-wife travels there. I order, get the free shipping and discounts and ship to her hotel. Then, I cancel the membership… until next year :-) You can sign to Prime from everywhere to everywhere, but the free shipping is only domestic of course.

    1. You don’t need a few things to qualify for free shipping, since these are Amazon Prime deals. There is no minimum since everything on Amazon Prime is free shipping, no matter how low the price is.

        1. Not sure you can buy a Prime membership in another country…? I thought everyone has to stick to their home amazon for Prime Day. This is a limitation of course. With Black Friday you can shop around globally.

          1. I just got the Elvis box set for €119 on the German Amazon site, signed up for Prime 30 days free, cancelled it once I got the deal
