  1. Nirvana Box set is down to £42 again and an odd one here but pre-order on Amazon for Freya Ridings Blood Orange due out in May is only £14.99 on SIGNED Vinyl.

    1. Make sure you play the Peter Gabriel within the return window. There are lots of reports of bad pressings on this one. I returned copies twice to Amazon as it sounded like somebody frying bacon in the quieter parts – the third copy however was very nice sound indeed – so a bit hit & miss…

    1. Just noticed it as well.order done.expecting Dylan fragments today and got Clapton 4cd box 1st album for 24 quid last week so a good start to the year

    2. Many thanks. Saw this post and ordered at about 11pm last night. Set was delivered this morning at about 11am – well packaged and no damage. I love it when Amazon works well….
Sadly for others – price seems to have rocketed up to £94 again

  2. The Nirvana Nevermind deal was over a couple of days ago sadly. Only lasted a few hours. Managed to get one and with a couple of Amazon vouchers I ended up paying £17.

  3. Amazon in Europe has an extra 20% discount on their warehouse selection.
I got the Primal Scream – screamadelia maxi vinyl box for 46 euro inclusive postage at Amazon.de

  4. Not sure if this is a deal but Amazon UK have the Alan Parsons Project 40th anniversary Tales of mystery and imagination, this is a 6 disc box set with 3cds,1 blu ray and a double vinyl.

  5. Some of the deals showing as over on here are live again – eg Beatles, Associates, Kinks etc. Just pointing out in case people don’t realise. I know it’s hard to keep up with things going in and out of discount.

  6. So nice to see beach boys “Feel flows” go down to £38. I am really hoping for a reduction in price for “sail on sailor set” and the Guns and Roses “Use your illusion set” Amazon france currently has the Sail on sailor set for EUR 112 + shipping which is fair, but I will wait and go for it at EUR 75 and Guns and roses at approx EUR 150. Best regards Hans

    1. I’m really enjoying listening to the SDE of Sail On Sailor, paid £98 for it from Am/Fr.

I’ve been playing it at least twice every week since it’s release, I did pay maybe more than others will eventually pay but what price do you put on the enjoyment I’m now getting having been able to play it from it’s release date?

      1. I must agree, there are a number of sets that I in the past bought at full price ( for ex the upcoming Dylan set), so perhaps I just go for the EUR 112 offer from Amazon France, there is always the risk that these sets become scarce and hard to get , see for example the Thin Lizzy bbc set. However, Guns and Roses must come down before a purchase. Best regards Hans

        1. I ordered the Sail on sailor set as of today at a reasonable price. I must say I look forward to the set , mostly the expanded studio recordings of “carl and the Passions” and “Holland”. Best regards Hans

  7. Book of Love – The Sire Years: 1985-1993 ‘best of’ CD from 2018 is $15 on AMZ US (vs $20+ and $30+ on Ebay and Discogs respectively). Third party seller with about a dozen copies left.

  8. Are there any metalcore fans or emo kids that read SDE? Anybody here have emo kids of their own?

Rise Records (the “positive” offshoot of long-running hardcore label Vagrant) is having a sale on their clearance stock: LPs (fancy schmancy colored vinyl) for US $7, CDs for US $5. That includes, among many other things, the deluxe edition of The Devil Wears Prada’s “Transit Blues,” a 180 gram pressing in a 13” x 13” 100-page hardcover photo book. I don’t even like metalcore and I’m tempted by this nicely designed package.

There’s also Cold Collective’s “Weathervane” 2lp on deep aqua vinyl; Kvelertak’s “Splid” deluxe edition with a ridiculous huge fold-out cover and double black/white vinyl; Placebo’s “A Place For Us to Dream” 2cd digibook edition; and The Early November’s deluxe “In Currents” CD with the bonus DVD, plus several hundred other releases, along with t-shirts and all sort of ridiculous merch. Anybody need a wooden ouija board planchette engraved with the logo for the band Nightmares, perhaps?

  9. The price now of the live Pink Floyd LP is 14 GBP at imusic. Animal box set is 41 GBP. The DSOTM 50th boxset is at 179 GBP. They ship in 3 folds thick cardboard. No issue with quality ordering from them so far (> 50 items).

  10. Re Chalky’s on an earlier post. Chalky’s, Rarewaves, Juno Records, MusicMagpie et al, be aware guys that yes, they do sometimes offer some decent prices, but if anything goes wrong as regards condition and postage etc, their customer service is very slow, or non existant. There is no telephone numbers to get in contact. Used to buy from them all for a few years until I got fed up with another bashed record coming through the post. The hassle sending it back was too much. Yes, some people have had no trouble up until now, but folk have to weigh up the pros and cons themselves.

    1. I can speak of Rarewaves very highly. Things used to take a while to arrive (UK), but are now much quicker. I had a couple of items get lost but that is 2 in lots of perfectly fine orders. They sent a replacement for one and a full refund for the other and answered my email within 24 hours. Music Magpie used to have a UK call centre to ring, but I’ve found they are happy to replace anything damaged via email, but not had to return a high value damaged box set, so can’t speak of that. My items were cheaper and they said to keep the damaged one. Chalkys, not ordered much, but not had a problem yet on any order. Rarewaves and MusicMagpie of course have their own websites, so always worth checking if an item on ebay is cheaper on their own website too.

    2. Having just come out of a non delivery issue with Rarewaves, I can only say that they passed the test with flying colours. Two days after reporting the CD as not having arrived, I had a replacement.

    3. Regarding “rarewaves.com” i can only assist Rich G.’s opinion.

I usually order directly from their own website as prices there are normally (and understandable) a bit lower than in their respective shops on the big A, the big E and other biggies and have the problem that they are in the UK and i am in the EU.

So after Brexit got finally done i flinched back from ordering in the UK but that can of course not be a permanent state if you are ‘into’ popular music so i gave Rarewaves a chance last summer. They are participating in the IOSS system where VAT of the recipients country is added at point of sale and normally break big orders into lots of smaller deliveries so first everything went well, but some time in autumn i got stung big time not once but twice because there must have been something missing in their customs declaration as German customs found it a good idea to charge me the already paid for VAT a second time.

I grudgingly paid and was on the brink of deciding that i had to stop ordering from them but thought i’d give it a try and sent an email to the adress given on their website.

As i was aware that some fellow readers at SDE hold no high opinion of them i was positively surprised when i not only received a reply within a day but noticed even before that when looking into my PayPal-account that i got refunded for the additional amount of VAT and handling fees without even asking for it.

True, that you better shouldn’t order there if you have a deadline for getting a special product because in the time of holidays AND postal strikes in both the UK and Germany it can sometimes take more than a month for an item to arrive but as that is normally no problem for me i can only recommend them.

I haven’t had the case so far that something got lost during shipping but for items that arrived in no perfect state because of their sometimes too flimsy packaging i always got a replacement item sent out pronto and was allowed to keep the damaged item as well.

Yesterday i received a package with the whole of the Nick Cave reissues from about a decade ago including additional dvds that they currently have on sale for about 7€ each and that needed exactly a month from Rarewaves shipping notice to my doorstep, so i also have hope that the King Crimson At 50 box that has been released in November and is currently AWOL for six weeks will arrive soon too.

If not i’ll drop them a line and am quite certain that this will be solved in a customer friendly way again.

  11. I think Revolver will need to be about £75 before I think of pulling the trigger. I waited and waited and got a pretty good deal on Let it Be.

    1. Yeah, me too. Got both the vinyl and CD boxes for £50 each last year. Not The Beatles’ most popular album for sure, but more realistic prices made the purchases worthwhile.

  12. You can get Beatles Revolver CD box set for £83 from Chalkys on eBay (they have an 8% discount currently). Still a bit pricey for me but a little cheaper than Amazon currently.

  13. Theres no way Im paying THAT for the SDE Box so I told Amazon to take the cost of shipping so I can pretend I`ve got it!

  14. Lowest I have seen price for the Depeche Mode 101 box on Amazon.com: $68!
Also Keith’s Repeat Offender box now only $70. Lowest ever as far as I have seen.

    1. Only £27.63 on EbayUK from Rarewaves including free postage. There’s a couple of other sellers with similar prices. Sound of Vinyl will charge £3.95 UK postage.

Looks like plenty of these are coming on the market. It was released well over three years ago. SOV are advertising it as “Released on February 3rd” ! Slightly misleading

  15. Amazon US has the 4cd Wilco Summerteeth (not very) “deluxe” edition for $14.76. Initially this was (over)priced at $50. Not much in the way of packaging, but you get a cd stuffed with outtakes and demos, and a 2cd live recording.
It’s a quick impulse buy for me.

    1. It may not look much from the outside but the content is SDE-worthy.

When it was released i paid about 25€ for it in Germany but 15$ is really a steal for this.

      Enjoy.

    2. Yes, this and the 5CD Being There (currently £21 on Amazon UK) sets are phenomenal value in terms of contents now that they’ve dropped so much in price.

    1. … but only because it’s currently “unavailable” from Amazon itself – probably due to all the purchases from SDE readers :) The higher prices for the 3CD set are all from third party sellers.

  16. SDE gang, I am having a logic attack, the 8 cd Blondie Box is down to £74 on Amazon, the 3 cd is £20, so if I buy the £74 box and not the £20 box as I was going to, is the logic price £54 lol. I will think this over with a beer

    1. Definitely go for the 8cd set. The extra tracks work so much better appended to the albums. Very few of those tracks, whilst very worthy of investigating, are really worth revisiting set aside as a distinct collection of their own. Even if, as is likely, you have much of the original material already. As for the 12×12 book it is a thing of rare beauty and lots of text as well. You have not truly lived until you’ve seen the Uriah Heap image used for the In The Flesh Thai release!

    1. Amazon added £2.49 postage…couldn’t get them to drop it…apparently I could apply for a refund after delivery…I cancelled. I really don’t like sharp practice & advertising free delivery on anything over £20.

      1. You might need to get your reading glasses fixed. Amazon state that “orders of £20 or more of ELIGIBLE ITEMS across any product category also qualify for FREE Delivery in the UK.” – they don’t advertise “free delivery on anything over £20” as you state. It’s up to you to check that the item you’re ordering is eligible for free delivery. Not bothering to read the terms & conditions isn’t the same as ‘sharp practice’

    1. Cheaper on Amazon at £22.99 & if you have prime you also won’t get hit with the postage charge that SOV add on which takes the SOV to nearly £30

  17. Not a deal, per se, but if anyone’s interested Amazon UK are selling the Fleetwood Mac Alternate Collection 6CD box for £30, which is basically what it was selling for on RSD a few weeks ago. Must’ve printed a lot of these boxes for them to have made their way to Amazon without a huge markup.

    https://amzn.to/3IWzB3g

  18. Looks as if my original message has gone astray. This referred to Neil Young’s Barn album which Amazon UK are currently selling on vinyl at £12.60.

    1. Excellent price, cheers Colin. Picked up both the two vinyls of this and Neil’s Citizen Kane LP as posted below for a combined £25.25 with free postage – pretty good value!

  19. Wow, the Blondie box is absolutely gorgeous, didn’t realise it looked so great even with the unboxing video, would have bought this at full price straight away, if this comes up as a deal again don’t miss out SDE gang!

    1. Recommend having a listen to this one before you take a punt. I know it’s marketed as the “bootleg series” but I was still taken aback by just how bootleg this one sounded.

    1. I asked this on the previous post but it might have been too far down for people to have seen it, I was just wondering if people who got it from sources other than eBay could confirm that the pages in the book are in a random order – for example the cd listings start at discs 1&2 then the next page shows discs 7&8.

Later in the book the fan memories start at page 3, on the reverse side is page 2 then page 1 is last.

Just checking that this was a design choice and not a misprint.

      1. I got mine from eBay and the pages do appear in a random order. I know that’s not answering the question you asked but I thought I’d chip in anyway.

      2. Yes – my book pages are in a strange order. Looks like the ordering of the pagination of the leaves of the printed sheets has gone a bit awry. Not too bothered TBH – maybe they had some QC issues, hence the price drop on these copies?

  20. Well, after having had a good tidy up over over Christmas and promising myself no more big boxes, the Blondie box is on the way , can’t say no at £68, and I’ve finally bitten for the Prince SOTT vinyl for £156, thank you Paul, & Paul Murphy for the Prince heads up, I moved my bedroom radiator to another wall, and now have the space for another 5 x 5 Ikea Kallax, oh well, you can’t take it with you lol.

  21. Cheers Paul. Went for the 3CD Against All Odds at an excellent £19.99….and looks as though deal already over! Quicker that you can change Prime Minister!

  22. It’s been around for a while, and I’m sure anyone who wanted one already has one, but the 13-LP+DVD Prince Sign O’ The Times Super Deluxe is a most enticing £154 on Amazon UK at the moment [12.25/13.01.23].

    1. Dshires, pretty new I think – good spot – thanks. Think it is amazon UK matching HMV again. If people don’t have Amazon Prime, HMV will deliver to a local HMV shop for collection for no charge, plus they offer the free delivery over £20 just like Amazon and buying from them helps to keep the competition in business which keeps Amazon on their toes!

  23. The Blondie 3CD is now sold out but the Red Vinyl is still available and good value indeed. One does have to question though whether the original stated edition number of 400 copies only was actually truthful. You would have thought that they would have exceeded 400 sales by now

      1. The 3CD set is very tempting at that price. But I’m hopeful this is a pre-cusor to the 8CD set going down so I’m going to wait. Hopefully that strategy won’t come back and bite me on the bum.

        1. The Amazon 3CD deal is over. They were price matching Universal and killed the deal when they realised Universal had sold out.
The best option is a tricky one on this set. The deluxe CD & Big Box are very nice. Personally, I’m hoping the big box will tumble. On the basis that the limited edition red vinyl hasn’t sold out to date, then I’m optimistic that the more expensive items may still be discounted.
The best option for your personally depends mainly on what you already have and how much money you have to spend. If you have the individual Blondie CDs already, then investing in the 3CD is the simplest way to go.

      2. Remember, the 3cd is only the rarities. Youtube offers a convenient playlist to audition these tracks. To me, they are very much a mixed bag, and even as a fan hearing some of the work-in-progress tracks once is plenty. If it were available in the US at the sale price I’d still pick it up, since Numero usually does a nice job on the booklets and I already have multiple editions of the albums proper.

On the other hand, if you don’t already have the classic records that made the band famous, why not pick up the 8cd?

    1. My £19.99 3 CD box set arrived from Amazon today. It is a beautifully presented artefact, with a lot of care taken in the content and the presentation. Another great SDE bargain. Thanks again for highlighting it.

  24. BIG DEAL ALERT: Blondie Against The Odds 74-82 Deluxe Edition 4 LP Red Vinyl only £67.99 on UDiscover.
Black Vinyl only £63.99. They were both previously £120.99 and £99.99. Links below.

    https://store.udiscovermusic.com/*/*/Against-The-Odds-1974-1982-Deluxe-Edition-Exclusive-Red-Vinyl-4LP/7G880000000?utm_campaign=uDemail&utm_medium=email&utm_source=Storeemail

    https://store.udiscovermusic.com/*/*/Against-The-Odds-1974-1982-Limited-4LP-Edition/7G850000000

  25. The uDiscover store has the Blondie red vinyl 4 disc version for £68 or $83. That is a very good price especially as this is a limited edition.

  26. Having purchased every Bruce Springsteen album since “Greetings” thought his latest – Covers Volume 1 – “Only the Strong Survive” was a step too far based on You Tube viewings. However on passing a local music store today (in Elgin, North East Scotland) which doesn’t open on Wednesdays saw it in the window at £19.99 -which is £10 or so cheaper than anywhere else- was tempted by a SDE type deal! The store, generally, is not at all known for bargains so I suspect it has been mis-priced. As an avid SDE bargain seeker should I return tomorrow or not?

    1. Hi Colin, my bruv is a huge Bruce fan, and he can’t bring himself to have this in his collection either lol, as a Bruce completist it’ll end up in your collection some time & £20 a good price, so why not? Hopefully the unreleased Bruce albums from the 90s coming soon will make up for it. I’ve just been stunned into silence by how dreadful that new version of Pride is that U2 have just released, I thought the Sting My Songs was bad enough, U2 take it to the next level lol.

    2. It’s “fine”. A mildly interesting and indulgent Springsteen diversion. Doubt you’d listen to it more than a couple of times. Depends on how much an incomplete back catalogue would bother you.

Also, I wouldn’t be surprised if the price came down everywhere pretty soon. A lot of Springsteen die-hards have avoided this one so there’s probably a lot of stock to shift.

    3. I’ve happily streamed it in Apple Music (one listen, haven’t been tempted back) but certainly don’t feel the need to part with any real cash.

    4. As others have said, I have bought virtually everything by Bruce, but am not tempted by this.

Amazon UK have Letter to You on double grey vinyl at the same price as black vinyl, £21.82.

      1. Thanks all for the responses.Pulled the trigger today! Agree with Matt that it could become a “bargain bin “record. Wasn’t aware that there are to be unreleased albums from the 90’s so need to research that.

          1. Hi Antonio,

thanks for sharing. That looks like these five albums will be included in ‘Tracks, Vol. 2’.

Sadly the source also quotes The Boss announcing a second set of soul covers and several more cover albums for other genre as well…

  27. How Can Elvis Costello justify the price for his collaboration with Burt Bacharach, due out shortly ? If you want the 4CDs you have to buy the vinyl as well as part of a Super Deluxe Edition. Otherwise it is the 2CD collection. He is pricing his fans out of being able to afford it.

    1. That’s bad enough – but the main problem is the pricing differential. We expect to pay more if Vinyl is in there, but the difference here is simply off the charts. Still, Costello is the guy who releases a DE of Armed Forces on Vinyl only………..

    2. I’ve lost a bit of respect for Mr Cost-a-lot. It seems his dislike for so-called inferior-formats is an excuse to justify exorbitant prices for vinyl, card and paper materials. And the inferior-format is still included anyway. If there was a major price discount I may turn hypocrite, of course.

  28. Neil Young’s “Harvest – 50th Anniversary Edition” (CD super deluxe) is down to $50 Canadian at Amazon Canada. (Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at 3:50 p.m. Eastern Time)

    1. Unavailable outside NL, it would seem, unfortunately. I’m still hoping it will drop to this sort of price somewhere that ships to my location.

      1. Memoriesofgreen, Thanks – shame I missed that price – very cheap. In reality now, I don’t think it will drop that low again without the risk of it selling out first, so I’ve jumped in. From bottoming out this time at £19.80 it’s creeping up again. With a lot of these things, it’s down to how much you want something. If it’s something of low interest, you can of course wait until bargain price and risk never getting it, but if you do want it definitely, you have to jump in and pay potentially higher than rock bottom price. I notice a lot of the Doors and Fleetwood Mac Boxes are deleted and getting pricey on resale now and they were heavily discounted before that, but did sell out. I presume they’ve overdone the Supergrass runs of all these reissues as the CD Deluxes are heavily discounted as well as the “limited” vinyl. Maybe this doesn’t bode well for reissues of smaller albums life Life On Other Planets and Road To Rouen. We are definitely seeing short runs of albums and them not being repressed again, so very hard to call.

  29. Howard Jones at the BBC 5xcd box: 16,20 euro at Amazon.nl and Dutch online retailer Bol.com. Amazon.nl sells George Michael -Older Superdeluxe edition for 100 euro as well.

  30. The House of Love boxset from last year is reduced to £32 at Resident Music. It’s out of stock at Cherry Red and £47 on Amazon so good price

      1. Thanks for the head-up on this one, I picked a copy up from eBay but I’ve got a quick question for people that got it from other sources – at the back of the book there are three pages of ‘fan memories’, are these pages backwards in your copy – as in page 3 is first, and page 1 is last??

  31. I bought The Kinks’ Muswell Hillbillies / Everybody’s In Show-Biz 11 disc box (deal price £97.49). It has impressive content although now with the individual vinyl LPs and the 2CD version being currently very cheap also, there is a choice to be made. It’s not totally clear what this difference, so here is a bit of a summary. The stand alone 2CD version of the pair of albums has three bonus tracks on the Muswell CD and one on the Show-Biz CD. These 4 bonus tracks are all on the bonus discs in the big CD box, but on the bonus discs, not added to the actual album CDs in the big box (strange as will have meant pressing separate CDs for box set and stand alone! The separate vinyl albums are about £15.99 each, a single black vinyl LP and a double black vinyl LP (very good value) but no extra tracks on either. In the box set these both contain a bonus vinyl LP each making Muswell a 2LP (blue vinyl) and Show-Biz (orange/yellowish vinyl) a 3LP. None of those bonus vinyl tracks in the big box are repeated on the CDs in the big box set (or available on the stand alone break out discs), so there’s not full duplication of content on both CD/LP within the big box. If you buy the single CD stand alone of Showbiz you only get the 1 bonus track, but it’s as expensive as the 2CD of both albums. The 2CD version of the pair of albums has one bonus on the Muswell CD and 3 on the Show-Biz CD (according to Amazon and the images on their listing though I don’t have that edition) approx £7.36 plus £1.26 post from 3rd party sellers here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Muswell-Hillbillies-Everybodys-Show-Biz-Kinks/dp/B0B69JFL4V/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=everybody%27s+in+showbiz&qid=1672862203&qu=eyJxc2MiOiIwLjgyIiwicXNhIjoiMC4wMCIsInFzcCI6IjAuMDAifQ%3D%3D&sprefix=everybody%27s+in+show%2Caps%2C79&sr=8-4 CAUTION. Amazon have the stand alone Muswell with a picture of the 2CD of both albums, but when you look at the track listing, it’s just the 12 tracks plus 3 bonus and is more than the 2CD, so avoid I’d say. The link to that misleading picture is here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Muswell-Hillbillies-2022-Standalone-Kinks/dp/B0B69G23R6/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=kinks+muswell+hillbillies+box+set&qid=1672863101&sprefix=kinks+mu%2Caps%2C79&sr=8-2

    1. Thanks for that Rich G. I already had the 2016 3LP of Everybody’s… so I didn’t buy the big box but I bought the new single Muswell Hillbillies LP and the 2CD Everybody’s/Muswell 2CD set. I already had the Muswell Hillbillies 2014 CD/DVD and the Everybody’s CD 2016 SE. so I don’t think I’m missing much from the big box. I think Ray Davies slipped up combining both albums in one box set and I bet it’s the lowest selling of The Kinks recent SEs. I’ll be surprised if we see any more Kinks SEs but I really hope I’m wrong on that.

Being a big Kinks fan I’m still tempted by that big box! ;-))

    2. Thanks! I’m glad somebody had the patience to parse the differences in the track lists of these editions.

Confusing prospective customers seems like a bad marketing strategy to me.

    3. You Sir are legend, you don’t get this kind of information anywhere else lol , I never in a million years would have thought why do separate CDs for a box set and stand alone, I bet someone was having a beer when putting the box together.

  32. Paul, I don’t believe there are any bonus tracks on the 2LP Everybody’s In Show-Biz, it was always a double album with a studio disc and a live disc.
The 3LP version in the big box set does come with a bonus disc, however.
Nevertheless this price for what is a good Kinks album is a great price.

  33. People Move On (Exclusive Signed Edition) by Bernard Butler CD boxset is £22 on Amazon UK. The two disc coloured vinyl set (unsigned) is £18.

  34. Eddie Piller Presents British Mod Sounds of The 1960s Volume 2: The Freakbeat & Psych Years (6 x LPsColor vinyl, Signed Print, Box Set
Now £98.74 on Amazon UK. It was £112.

I have pre ordered the signed CD version, which is still available at £34.99.

  35. My wish list for this year is topped by a real wish for the Bowie Five Years vinyl box set to be re-issued. I have all the other vinyl sets but resale prices of the Five Years set are now so obscenely high that resale sites are polluted with fake sellers hoping to make an easy £1k! I now wouldn’t know who to trust even if I was dumb enough to pay that kind of money!
Other hopes are for a big price reduction in the vinyl box set version of Teaser and the Firecat, which is stubbornly staying at a ridiculous £150 (probably still with the incorrect disc).
My most needed new release is Neil Young’s Archives 3 (with a hi-res download in the UK).
My biggest hope is the return of “spatial audio” (yuk) to box sets – having spent £300 on a pair of Dolby Atmos speakers last year to enhance my surround sound system, I want to purchase spatial audio versions of my favourite music, not rent it!
So Happy New Year and may you all get the products you love to buy and the bargains you seek to find and may SDE continue to thrive, as I know it will.

      1. Damn! Thanks for the info, at least it HAS moved downwards in price if only briefly, so may do again. I’d only seen it actually RISE to over £200 on Amazon UK for a short, dispiriting time!

        1. I’m trying to hold out for the vinyl edition, which is becoming difficult when all the price reductions are happening on the cd set! The vinyl box has just returned to £150, having been at £180 – way overpriced I’m afraid. Maybe they’re trying to recoup the cost of the replacement discs!

  36. Has anyone bought the Neil Young Harvest box set from Greedy Hand UK store, and if so did they get a hi-res download with it?
I’m really itching to buy this now, as it seems reasonably priced even without a discount, but I don’t see the point of paying a higher price at Greedy Hand if the exclusive hi-res download isn’t included.

    1. In the theory, yes. I pre-ordered the clear World Record from the UK Greedy Hand store and the Hi-res code turned up, eventually. I didn’t chase, but the code appeared of its own volition a couple of weeks after the album release date. And they also sent me the Harvest 50th deluxe Hi-res download, even though I’ve not bought it yet! So conclusion is that the Warner’s online stores are still woefully organised. Even if it worked for me this time around, I’ve not forgotten the experience of NYA II. And I’ve had similar issues with Joni’s store as well. Chevrolet!

      1. Thanks Greyrider, that’s encouraging enough (sort of) for me to place an order with the UK store and wait for a download code to arrive some time later.
Interestingly and to my surprise, at today’s prices, buying it from the UK store will cost me £55.98 including tracked postage. Buying it from the US store will cost me £55.37 including international shipping! Import duty didn’t occur when I bought Archives 2 from the US store before and the download code then was quickly delivered with no fuss, but I’ve gone for the UK store this time to save any extra hassle if the item needs returning.
With prices being comparable (at the moment), I feel I would be comfortable buying Archives 3 from the US Store if this Harvest purchase doesn’t go smoothly or if it fails to produce the download code without hassle.
After all, the Archives 3 download would be a hell of a lot of music, and one not to be missed.

  37. Bryan Ferry ‘Island Singles’ is £17.41 on Rarewaves UK, and £21 on Amazon UK. It’s the 6 X 7″ singles set with picture sleeves. I’m not sure if it’s the RSD release or a reissue. Good price though.

    1. As good as that may be I am still gonna wait for it to be £60.

Tomorrow never knows but…you know….£90 is still too much for this half baked set of half empty discs. Wibble. Humbug. Etc..

See you next year for some BETTER sde’s …… I hope!

  38. My 4LP of Steve Hackett Seconds Out arrived from amazon.fr today. I have to say that the LP gatefold sleeve leaves a lot to be desired. It arrived with the 4 LPs loose folded inside the gatefold rather than inserted and I understand why some LPs come shipped like this. But I’ll be damned if I can get them inserted in the proper place, it’s just impossibly tight. Methinks they’ve used a straightforward 2LP gatefold without even checking if the 4 LPs fit. Disappointed ☹️

    1. Same. I’ve emailed Inside Out and asked them for a second sleeve ‘cos it’s impossible to get the 4 LPs into the standard gatefold sleeve. Not particularly hopeful tho.

      1. Same with mine but I keep all my LPs in outer poly sleeves that are strong enough to hold the 4 LPs.

Also saves on wear to the gatefold sleeve.

I`m wondering if this is the reason for the price reduction?

  39. Caution advised on the Pink Floyd one. I know that the deal has now finished and following someone else on here reporting the fault with the LP I sent mine back and got a refund and bought the cd and blu ray separately. I’m avoiding the vinyl version now. There are numerous folk reporting faults with the LP.

    1. I would agree Stevie C that the vinyl is hit and miss. I got a terrible crackly unplayable one, which I returned. A friend got a decent copy. Another issue is the CD (whether stand alone or in the deluxe box). In my oldest CD player, my PC and my BluRay it plays fine and I was able to rip it to the PC also. However in my HiFi CD player it won’t play. There’s nothing wrong with my player. It plays everything else but cannot read the Animals 2018 Mix. It says it is “not finalized”, so I’d say there’s something weird with the authoring of the CD to make it non universal. A beautiful remix, a beautiful cover, lovely BluRay / DVD menu, but vinyl very hit and miss and CD a bit hit and miss and not for all CD players. Other Amazon reviews reflect this too. How much money have they lost in returns and buyer hesitation. Crazy!

  40. Medazzaland cut at 45rpm, looks fantastic, the printing is high quality, even the artwork looks finally surprisingly attractive in 12″. I highly recommend it for DD fans. Musically it’s a departure and not their best work, as it was recorded in the middle of crisis of John Taylor leaving the band for a 5-year absence.

  41. Must be the 1st Xmas I know where the cd sales from boxing day onwards on amazon and more so in Hmv are pretty non existent. Popped in hmv today thinking there will be the usual one cabinet full of greatly reduced cd albums they can’t shift but nothing so quickly walked out.

    1. They have a sale of CDs and vinyl online as we speak. I got the deluxe version of the newsimple minds album on CD and Gary Moore’s A Different Beat on CD.

  42. I’d go careful with that Associates one. Sounds nowhere near as good as the original release, and I believe somethings wrong with the Country Club remix. The best version I’ve heard of this classic album is still the 80s vinyl.

  43. Neil Young – Noise and Flowers Box Set (2LP/CD/Blu-Ray) $48 on AMZ US (~40% off of $80 retail price)

His Harvest box set is $38 on AMZ US (~25% off of $50 retail price)

  44. Robert Plant & Alison Krauss – Raise The Roof – Amazon UK Exclusive 2 LPs on Translucent Red vinyl and alternative packaging. Was £44.99 on release – now an annoyingly low £17 (annoying for those that paid earlier price)

    1. Ordered this at the time, had order confirmed and then received dispatch confirmation.

Now received an email advising the package is damaged and they can’t deliver it….Of course the bundle is no longer available and the White Album alone is north of £40 if I want to re-order. Wonder if anyone else will get a similar message ?

    2. Just ordered the beatles bundle. Abbey Road dispatched & white album scheduled. Looks like the offer is still on. Does seem to be too good but you can’t win if your not in.

  45. Thanks for the heads up on the Brilliant Advetures box-set. An immediate purchase at that price. Black Tie white noise is my favourite post 1980 Bowie album (apart from Next Day and Black Star). Regarding Revolver….they could reduce that to a tenner and I wouldn’t buy on point of principle due to the lack of a spatial audio blu-ray….I’ll get over it one day, but for now the anger festers!

    1. It should be noted it’s not sold by Amazon themselves at that price but a marketplace seller.
I’ve been stung too many times by items touted as new but reseals, hopefully this isn’t the case with this set.

  46. Vinyl discounts in the modest Amazon sale include a few quid off last year’s new and re-issue Neil Youngs (World Record and Toast) and Regina Spektors (Home Before and After and 11:11).

  47. The King Scratch (Musial Masterpieces from the Upsetter Ark-ive) 4 x LP, and 4 x CD super deluxe box set is currently on for £72.80 down from £85.30 on Amazon UK ‘only six left’ at time of posting (3.00pm UK time 27/12), a nice £13 save there.

    1. That King Scratch set is the late Lee Scratch Perry right?? Will get that eventually cuz it will compliment the “Arkology” 3CD minibox, which I got signed by Lee when & saw & met him in 2020 on the Outlaw 5 Cruise…he was a character & he was like an alien from another planet…some would think if they didn’t know, a wacked out street bum…but I felt lucky to witness Lee in his element…not parting with that signed box…

  48. There’s a couple of unusual Stones bundles on Amazon Uk. Rolling Stones Tattoo You Box (4CD with Picture Disc vinyl etc) & Goats Head Soup CD – normal bundle price is £70 – now £41. There’s also Tattoo You Box & Sticky Fingers CD if you prefer for similar price.
