  1. In the pub in Kingston with big bruv. A cd of AYCLB picked up a few weeks ago for £1 , & now he’s ordered the box set for £75, as he points out I spent £40 on the Days of Speed double, so £75 on this box is a no brainier ( I can guarantee he will never take the shrink wrap off ), is there any logic to our crazy hobby? If any of the SDE gang are near Kingston, Banquet Records have a lot of great signed cd & Lps from their in store appearances ( Jake Bugg, The Villagers, Nothing But Thieves ) at normal prices, & a lot of RSD stock knocking around.

  2. U2 vinyl box set has just arrived from Italy. Wow what a stunning set at a bargain price – with the bonus of all the content on downloadable WAV files – result, thanks Paul, would never have bought this at the UK price, never in a million years!!

  3. Very quiet this week again – couple of things on Amazon UK:

Pixies – Beneath The Eyrie (“Deluxe Edition” – single CD but in extended booklet packaging) is £7.06 (through a marketplace seller but a pretty big one – Chalkys – and it’s free delivery).
John Lennon – Gimme Some Truth (2CD edition) is £11.29. Not a huge saving but it’s the first time it’s been below £14 in quite a while.

    On Amazon DE:

Elton John – Jewel Box is £64

      1. I hope it’s still on for you. It was yesterday morning I saw it.

I picked it up for £8 a month or so ago so if price has gone up today I’m sure it’ll drop again soon enough.

  4. Can anyone explain why the German deal on Amazon shows no discount when I place the Neil young or Elton John in checkout. Has the deal finished?
Or is it some more brexit bollocks? Thanks

  5. Does anyone know if the cheap record shop that used to be near the Hillhead Underground station in Glasgow
has relocated? Went up there today (first time in several months) and was disappointed to find the lease on the
    shop has been taken up.

  6. Neil Young – Young Shakespeare LP (vinyl only, not the box set) is £15 on Amazon UK for what they say is a “limited time deal”.

Elton John Jewel Box is also back down to £66

  7. I got a U2 box for my brothers birthday later in the year, great deal. This cd is always in huge quantities at the Hammersmith pound store LOL, not sure why, there’s always about 50 copies, probably been the same 50 for ages

    1. Some really bad pressings of this set out there, so you’re taking a chance if you’re giving it later in the year as if its a dodgy pressing you may be well outside the return window if you need to replace it

      1. Hi,
I just bought it and waiting for delivery.
Please let me know what problems have you noticed?
Are they visual defects, sound problems, bad stamping etc?
In your opinion, what should I pay attention to in the first place?
I will be gratfull for any indications?
        thanks
        Darek

  8. Have been waiting quite some time for the U2 box to drop to this level! Excellent deal. Thanks for the heads up, Paul and whoever brought it to your attention.

  9. The [purple] vinyl release of A-ha’s East of the Sun surely can’t be the only pressing even issued, cause I have an Italian pressing on black vinyl, released at the time.

  10. A-ha purple vinyl East of the sun. west of the moon £10.42 from amazon uk (free postage with prime)
    https://amzn.to/3Az8gO4

Also, liam gallagher white 12″ christmas vinyl single is only £3.28 (free postage with prime)
    https://amzn.to/3yrVyyJ

I have bought both of those and might get this if anyone can convince me I need 5 MORE live jimi hendrix cd’s :
    https://amzn.to/36n4Yzj
( 3rd party seller on amazon – less than £25 incl. postage)

    1. Let me try and convince you! Many years ago I bought the soundtrack to the film Jimi Hendrix. The last track on the double album is Machine Gun (Band of Gypsies). It is my all time favourite live recording by ANYONE – it’s awesome. In the actual film, the grainy footage of this performance only adds to the mystique of the recording.
The Songs for Groovy Children box set captures four complete performances by the Band of Gypsies over New Year’s Eve 1969 and New Year’s Day 1970. A real moment in history, and as Hendrix never played stuff the same way twice it should be fascinating to hear all four sets by a sadly short lived project of Jimi’s.
I’ve dived in and bought the 8 disc vinyl box set for £70 in the recent/current Amazon.de offer and am eagerly awaiting it’s arrival on Saturday. Your link to the 5 disc cd box for under £25 seems excellent value. I’d say go for it!

        1. Thanks pals! Well I didn’t need much convincing really. Hendrix Groovy Children 5cd set has been ordered, delivered and listened to. . . and is a bargain indeed and a great little package too. Nice cd sleeves, nice little book and a funky little rigid box ! Great.

On another note – my purple a-ha lp East of the sun West of the moon (from amazon ) had the AutoRip version too – which, when I checked it , was actually the 2cd expanded version – so I got the purple lp, and expanded 2cd (mp3) tracks for £10 . I am well pleased!

  11. A number of deals on Amazon US.

Black Crowes Shake Your Moneymaker 4 LP SDE $43
    Fleetwood Mac Live SDE $62
Pink Floyd Delicate Sound of Thunder 2CD/BR/DVD $49
The Who Sell Out SDE $93
U2 All That You Can’t Leave Behind CD SDE $85

  12. Was on the fence for a while about the Manic Street Preachers – Gold Against The Soul 2CD book, thought it’s too pricy for what it was – 2 CDs and a photo book. But decided to get it after all as a part of the amazon.de offer. Grabbed it for €32.89, can’t see it going any lower than this before it disappears.

And at the same time bought the 3CD deluxe This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours for €18.89.

Both offers are still on at the time of writing.

  13. Got the Motorhead No Sleep Til Hammersmith 4CD and Queensryche Operation: Mindcrime 4CD+1DVD in the Amazon.de deals over the weekend for €82 delivered to Ireland and arriving today, apparently. Thanks to Matt D for the original heads-up….

      1. They seem to be, Tom, ripped them without any issue, and I haven’t noticed anything wrong with what I’ve listened to so far. There are a couple of small marks on a couple of discs, but I don’t think it’s enough to cause any sound problems.

  14. Not quite the Amazon.de deal of the weekend but there’s an eBay deal running until the end of the day with 10% off on loads of music (look out for the SAVE10 deal on there). Like with all eBay promos though, it take a LOT of rummaging.

The Lennon Plastic Ono Band Super Deluxe CD box set is on there a few times but there’s one seller offering it for £76 after discount, for example, which isn’t too bad.

  15. Must admit I’m supremely jealous at you all able to get these savings from the other Amazon sites because living in Northern Ireland as I do, I can’t! :-( Still on the plus side it has saved me a fortune particularly in the run up to the 2nd RSD drop which I’ll be taking part in soon.

  16. In response to Rashers query the other day. The After the Goldrush deluxe vinyl IS now down to £59 with discount and delivery to UK on Amazon.de at the moment. Don’t all rush at once!

  17. Just bought the Focus 50th ann box set for £25.92 delivered to the UK, incredible deal!

Thanks to those that have highlighted this deal &, obviously, thanks to Paul for the superb site! It costs me a lot but that cost makes me very happy!

  18. Miles Davis “Merci Miles! Live at Vienne” CD 5.34 € discount and vinyl 10.73 € discount applied at checkout.
Nina Simone “Nina Simone: The Montreux Years” CD 5.11 € discount and vinyl 8.10 € discount applied at checkout.
Etta James “Etta James: The Montreux Years” CD 5.11 € discount and vinyl 8.10 € discount applied at checkout.
Bebe Rexha “Better Mistakes” CD 5.40 € discount applied at checkout. Sorry about that one but my wife says that…

All of them released just last week.

  19. Many thanks for the Amazon. DE heads up. Snagged a few Black Sabbath, Rory Gallaher, Texas & Gary Moore, Noel Gallager as well as the Peter Green Tribute 4LP all for £147, a saving of around £60. Now i just need to get the parcels past the missus.

  20. Jimi Hendrix – Songs For Groovy Children (Live at Fillmore East) 8 disc vinyl set is £70 after discount, including postage at Amazon.de! Nice to see these deals working to the UK!

  21. Dear Paul Sinclair

Why are the comments that I wrote 21 hours ago still awaiting approval? I didn’t use any naughty words like “Pet” or “Shop” or “Boys” or “Sucks” and only my personality can be considered as spam, not my comments. I had so much more namedroping to do concerning the current sale on Amazon DE and somebody else has already taken my Bill Evans one, and I thought that I was the opera/jazz/country guy here…

    1. No idea. Probably because there’s so many comments sometimes things get missed. Especially at the weekend, where I’m less likely to be moderating to the same degree. It’s virtually never deliberate, and if it is then it should probably be obvious.

  22. Thanks for the amazon.de Secret discount:

The Band – Stage Fright – 50th Anniversary (Ltd. Deluxe Boxset) for 83 €
    Ultravox Vienna(Deluxe Edition) 40th Anniversary for 32€

    1. Vienna back in stock after being unavailable in the offer for a day or so. I was wavering seeing as so much of the box is on Youtube but if I was willing to pay a tenner for the instrumental RSD CD then @ £30 for the rest seems not unreasonable.

  23. Yup. Just placed my order with Amazon.de for the Sabbath “Sabotage” deluxe vinyl box set at £78.33 including postage to here in the UK. Nice work everyone on these tip offs which make this such a great site for vinyl hunters. Bingo!

  24. Wow – thanks for the Amazon.de tip. What a bonanza. Worth a new separate post I would humbly say. German readers are delighted ! What is strange is that Saturn, who Amazon price match, are not great and have such offers but then can’t deliver for months and months. Just received my last albums from the last Saturn 3 for 2 from last November !!

    1. Hi. How was your Bill Evans set? Mine had most cds scratched or with glue. Becoming increasingly frequent due to poor design for holding cds. Have contacted Craft but no answer so far

  25. Good Evening everybody, or morning whenever you read this!!
Some more discounts over at Amazon Germany, I just ordered, The Kinks, Village Green Superdeluxe set, worked out for me at £62.00 including postage. which is, a fantastic deal.
Also currently discounted in Euros after deductions are, Jethro Tull, A. (Al a mode) € 24.00
    Bob Marley: The recent boxset
    At€ 23.00.
    Focus :50 Years Anthology :€28.00
And sets by Amy Winehouse, Nick Cave, Dire Straits, oh and the Kinks :Lola set is also discounted. All above will have postage costs to wherever you may live!

  26. With the promo credit applied the Prince set came out at £88 for me (after the currency guarantee fee etc) which seemed like a bargain. The set itself seems to be hit or miss re the quality of the discs upon arrival as lots of reviewers copies seem to arrive scratched or damaged, so lets hope it doesn’t have to be returned to the wilds of the amazon return warehouse in Slovakia ! ( I was offered 24hr delivery which seems to suggest its shipping from within the UK but when returning you still have to ship to Slovakia and wait a week or two before a refund arrives)
    ,

    1. Got my Prince set today , dvd scratched to hell & 6 of the 8 cds scratched so returned & another on the way. Why is it so difficult to produce packaging that doesn’t destroy discs – this isn’t a cheap set so there are lots of other options than ‘wedge the discs into cardboard cutouts so we can keep the cost as low as possible’

      1. Rookie error Nathan, you always need to keep the old set until the new arrives. There are bound to be other issues, so at least you can have the ‘best of the best’ from two sets… before returning the reject.

    1. Not even worth that if they can’t produce a set that isn’t damaged. I’m now on my second set as 6 of the discs in the set I got were scratched & 50% of the reviewers on Amazon seem to have the same issue.

  27. Thanks for the news on the “secret discount” on Amazon.de
    Just got (all vinyl) :
Lou Reed NY Deluxe edition box for €41
Black Sabbath Vol 4 Super Deluxe box for €66
Black Sabbath Sabotage Super Deluxe box for €83

    Or a whopping €89 discount

  28. Just succumbed to Black Sabbath Sabotage Deluxe, was never going to do this all the while it was £80-£100.
However, saw it on eBay- brand new from a site in the USA I have used before at £39 and free postage. Yes Please.

Disc 4 will never get played- totally obsolete, but the live gig is great and the actual album is their best album to me.
Hoping for a deal on Vol.4 too.

  29. There’s a fantastic box set offer happening at at Amazon.de right now.

I just picked up Sabbath’s Vol.4 super deluxe box set for £44 (promotion has £19 off the list price) – cheaper than I’ve found it since the Rhino set disappeared from sale.

I can also see (after discount):

Motorhead’s brand new No Sleep Til Hammersmith box set at £31
CSNY’s new Deja Vu box set for £42
Fleetwood Mac’s Live box set for £45
Neil Young Archives vol.2 for £70
    Bowie’s Width Of A Circle for £12
Elton John’s Jewel Box for £48
Kinks Lola box set for £28
Hendrix – live in Maui for £16

Basically, what I’m saying is there looks like a 30% off deal happening on a LOT of box sets right now. No sign of expiry date on it but some truly great savings.

    1. I put a couple of items in my basket to see what discount it gave and it looked like about 15% I don’t know what happens with VAT though. Will I get stung when the items arrive in the UK? The whole system is very confusing now.

    2. It’s working on a few other things for me – Joni’s Archives box, Lou’s New York and the Mick Fleetwood Peter Green tribute 4LP are all down 30% for me. Thanks for the tip off!

    3. Any way to browse what is in this offer? I just picked up the Motorhead Hammersmith set at the price mentioned, thanks for that, but there was no indication of any promotion until I got to the checkout page, which is a strange way to run a promotion!

      1. I guess that they don’t see it as a promotion as they are only mirroring Saturn.de’s offer and might actually lose some money with these prices so they’re not really advertise it this time.
I guess they found a way to check on Saturn.de what’s included in their offer (only items that are in stock) and only reduce the prices of these articles on their own site.
As there is no possibility to get a list of stuff available discounted the way i did it is scroll down several months here on SDE and look what items of interest were released in that time but not yet cheap enough for me.

Then i checked the several items on the Amazon.de site and looked which of these were included (They’ll give you a hint on the article landing page: If it’s included they tell you in small print right beneath the regular price how much cheaper the item gets at check-out).
I got the last two Fleetwood Mac-boxes (Live and 1969-1974), finally the Queen At The Rainbow-SDE (as i gave up hope that it will ever be offered below 70 EUR) and some other stuff.

Interesting for those of you who have an adress in Germany or Austria is that it also works the other way round and you can find items on Saturn.de that Amazon.de doesn’t offer (because they’re out of stock or completely sold out of it).
This way i could get the brand-new Manfred Mann’s Earth Band 6-disc-SDE and the latest live SDE of Steve Hackett, Selling England By The Pound And Spectral Mornings (4-discs inside a 12″-sized book) also for 30% less.

As it was said before on this thread the offer will end on upcoming Monday but in the morning at 9 am German Local Time.

So if you’re interested don’t wait too long.

  30. This TFB offer shows the real reception of his new album. Despite good critics and some praises from Steven Wilson fans, I assume that this album didn’t grab a majority of fans (including me). In my case, not because it’s mostly electronic (I am a huge Depeche Mode and other electronic acts fan as well), but for me it’s the lack of melodies that connect. For me it’s more or less an album with interesting sounds, but without an exceptional songwriting, which defined “The raven…” or other Steven Wilson output. I’m not blaming Steven Wilson for that, as he is an independent artist, I just hope, that he will now be in the mood for an album with songs, not tracks – wether it will be electronic or “handmade”. Or will Porcupine Tree see its ressurrection? ;-).

      1. He’s probably wondering why the full super deluxe Metallica set, which is about £200 everywhere, has been showing as €18.90 for nearly 2 days. It’s a good question to be fair.

          1. Only ‘available’ for shipping within Switzerland it seems. I would have ordered anyway as a punt but alas not possible.

        1. I have ordered it and am curious to see what they will deliver in September. The price has to be a mistake, let’s see what they’ll do. I’ve had several strange entries on that Swiss site of fnac that don’t seem to correspond with the entries on the French main site.

          1. I would definitely place an order myself, in case it’s actually fulfilled at that price, but as mentioned above the only ship-to country allowed is Switzerland. Bummer from here in the USA.

    1. …and now the Metallica – Blacklist 7LP-Box is also listed for CHF18.90. https://www.fr.fnac.ch/a14988399/Metallica-The-Metallica-Blacklist-Coffret-Vinyle-album#int=S:%3Cb%3EActualit%C3%A9%20vinyles%3C-b%3E|Vinyles|490635|14988399|BL2|L1
Someone is getting it quite wrong at fnac.ch. I’ve pre-ordered this set as well, again very curious to see what/if they deliver come September/October. Both boxsets are on top of their Vinyl Charts, so others have also pre-ordered.

      1. Seems they have banned pre-orders. But I have ordered the Metallica Box for 168€. Hope they will deliver this. Altough Saturn and Media Markt are well known for bad customer service in these cases.

    1. Thanks. Thats 30 percent of near everything on physical media (vinyl and CD). A lot of stuff is already discounted and you get this 30 percent discount on top of this. THANKS for the tipp!
      ❤️

    1. Except for the [yech] DVD with extra tracks, nothing really new hear unless you like reprinted stuff. At least one of the limited Rolling Bones box set included a [cheap] scarf. :-)

    2. I got one sent to the UK last time before it got geoblocked earlier in June for £57.70 delivered, all in. It arrived quickly, looks great. You get the 2LP (black vinyl) set, the CD and best of all 3 bonus tracks (Little T & A, I Wanna Be Your Man, You Don’t Move Me), but they are only on the bonus 10″ vinyl. The catch, as many reviews indicate, is the DVD freezes in the song Happy and won’t play after that point. It is faulty. The bonus tracks are only on the 10″, so if you already have the DVD, you’re not missing much as it looks very SD and no better than the original DVD. For overseas buyers, there’s the hassle of returning it. It’s probably why it’s cheap. I got a $20 gift card for my faulty copy. That’s the absolute best they would offer, or return it for a full refund, but that way you don’t have the set. I preferred to keep my set, for what equated to about £40 as the printed stuff is nice too. Buy it knowing the DVD is faulty, but also obsolete as the “new” bonus tracks aren’t listed as being on it, so your “old” DVD will suffice if you have it and I guess Keef fans buying this will have it already. There is apparently a repressing of the faulty DVD, but where to get hold of that I don’t know. Probably easier for USA buyers.

  31. I presume that the price of the reissue of “After the Goldrush” will plummet soon – every single record shop seems to have an abundance of them in stock (and not selling at the ludicrous price).
