  1. Whilst I know the deal has now finished and I know it was incomplete in terms of the tracklisting, when the Seal box set dropped to £66 I decided to pounce and so with a further £25 via an Amazon voucher that I got from my beautiful wife that brought it down to £41! Result! Then I got a further £30 Amazon Voucher off my mother-in-law and so I used it against the box set of That Petrol Emotion which at £61 brought it down to £31! Also have The Manics’ Ultra Vivid Lament and remixed Know Your Enemy that I got on vinyl deals plus deals on the Slade Merry Christmas Everybody on 12″, Aretha Franklin single CD, Lightning Seeds & Suede all CD deals. Bottom line is Mr Amazon is going to be busy on Wednesday when I get them! :-)

  2. Happy Christmas listening to all. Amazon Germany has the edge over the UK on prices of several recent CD box sets.
    Flaming Lips Yoshimi 6CD
Neil Young Harvest 50th anniversary CD box
    both about £38
and Tom Petty Live at Filmore 4CD edition about £52
and one from a while back, The Band Cahoots SDE £52

worth paying fastest delivery and I guess they’ll ship from UK anyway. Even with adding that on, still a few quid cheaper in every case, than Prime UK!

    1. Thanks Stephen – been holding out on the Flaming Lips boxset, came in at just shy of £44 with express shipping, about £8 cheaper than currently on the UK site.

  3. Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band / 1979 ‘No Nukes’ concerts: 2 cd and Blu-ray version is €12.09 on Amazon Spain with €3.09 postage to the UK.

  4. Merry Christmas Paul, many thanks for another year of great deals, videos, news and great message boards, I don’t really get the time to media scan for music news and deals, so SDE is perfect for me to drop in and out of a couple of times a week to check out deals, unboxing videos and news. I’m ending this year with Bowie’s Divine Symmetry dropping to £101 today as my present to myself, Merry Christmas SDE gang !

    1. You beat me to it, I was just about to mention that as I took the plunge and ordered it though there was no way I was paying the original price for it. I’m hoping the Elton John one comes down eventually too. I got the Blondie Christmas throwdown on pink 12″ last year during the summer.

  5. Over at RoughTrade UK, the shop’s exclusive 6 LP splatter vinyl box of live recordings by King Gizzard &TLW (good band, terrible name) is marked down half off, to 50 pounds.

      1. Yeah, OK, KG&TLW is more silly than terrible.
Incidentally, contrary to what you might expect, Sacred Reich is a progressive left-wing band. (Hope I’m not violating the rule about political discussion here in the comments.) Supposedly they chose their name because they came from Arizona and wanted to make sure no one would think they played country and western.
        Frohliche Weihnachten to you, Klaus!

        1. Thanks for the explanation Ex-Oligarch.

When i find the time for it in the days after christmas i’m gonna check them out (if they’re on Spotify).

Merry Christmas to you too and i hope despite the “ex” in your nick there was still some money left for Christmas presents…

  6. Japan -Quiet Life 3CD/LP set is £24.99 on Amazon UK (They’re price matching the HMV sale)

Amazon also have a load of standard edition cd recent releases for £4.99 – I’ve noticed both the new Chili Peppers albums and the latest by Suede and Lightning Seeds at that price.

  7. Aretha Franklin’s Aretha 4 x cd set is a respectable £26.64 on amazon uk; the one disc compilation version is a budget bargain £2.99.

The Elvis blu-ray film is £9.99 until midnight tonight

      1. It’s showing sold out at a lot of places. That’s either an inventory issue or they didn’t print a lot of these. Edsel typically runs out fairly quickly of these 10+ disc boxes. The Dead Or Alive box comes to mind. That was a while ago but still. They also ran out of the Ace Of Base box very quickly but then decided to do a second print. But Ace of Base was a small box compared to the Jesus Jones box. Always interesting to keep track of these things.

  8. Metal Blade records currently has a sale on a selection of its box sets at roughly 50-70% off. It’s kind of a motley selection, but the prices are great, and there’s something for most fans of the genre. Even for non-metallistes It’s worth a visit just to check out some of the strange extras (fanny packs? cloth banners? arrowhead pendants?) included with the sets.

    Some examples (all colored vinyl):
Cirith Ungol “Frost and Fire” 2lp/4cd/hardcover book $35
    (Bartholomei’s) Batushka “Hospodi” 2lp/cd/dvd/digibook/wooden box/”incense box”/candles/pin/kitchen sink $50
Fates Warning “Awaken the Guardian Live” 4cd/dvd/bluray/hardcover book $25
Primordial “Exile Amongst The Ruins” 5×10”/2cd/hardcover book/cloth bag $30
    Ensiferum “Two Paths” 2cd/dvd/digibook/wooden box/leather wristband/”drinking horn” glasses/poster/photos/patch $25

Plus more sets with slipmats, picks, other tchotchkes from As I Lay Dying, Cult of Luna, Powerwolf, Sacred Reich, etc.

There are also dozens of colored vinyl albums, all marked at $19.82 (it’s the label’s 40th anniversary), including double LP sets.

    1. Thanks for showing me with just one small post that there is still a busload of bands out there that i’ve never heard of (or, for that matter, ever going to hear of again after today)… ;-)

      1. Happy to help, my friend! Cheers.
Metal is a whole different universe, with plenty of curious sub-genres to get lost in. And metal fans LOVE their physical media.

    1. Now it’s arrived, I think I can see why it was discounted. 4 LP’s and 2 CD’s that are supposed to be housed in a standard gatefold sleeve. The shipper couldn’t get the LP’s in the sleeve and neither can I.

After a clean, the vinyl sounds fantastic though.

  9. For those that missed out at the time of publication – Waterstone’s currently have signed copies of the Bryan Ferry lyric book available online.

  10. yes I ve just ordered the Level 42 Box seems like a bargain hoping for more post Christmas! Thanks to Paul Sinclair for his hard work this year spotting the good deals!

  11. I read some complaints about Amazon canceling the Stones mono box sale price. Order it from JPC.de. It is almost the same sale when you have it sent to the USA. When you are in Europe you will have to pay the VAT but still, very good price. Including shipping it is $302 to the USA.

    1. I ordered that last week when it went down to £66. When I noticed it got down to even £59 I got pissed but then I noticed my order was canceled because my credit card was expired so now I ordered it for £59. Saved me 7 quid. All happy.

  12. I really don’t know why the Level 42 carrot is still being dangled in front of us. Could we possibly remove it, given that the deal lasted about an hour?

  13. Sadly I just received an email from Amazon informing me that my order for the Rolling Stones in Mono vinyl boxset has been cancelled and that a £5 gesture of goodwill has been credited to my account.

    1. That’s a real shame. They do it a lot. The worst aspect of that behaviour is customers often miss out on other buying options as they believe, not unreasonably, that they have already placed an order. Bizarre that there still isn’t an Amazon UK listing for it at any price at all, so UK customers face a bit VAT charge on any EU order as it’s miles over the limit.

  14. Rare Waves have quite a Good Sale at the moment. Bagged the Geordie Save The World Coloured LP £9, Japan Quiet Life 3 CD/1LP Box Set £21 and ELP Around the world 7 CD Box Set £19. Plus Double Points as well. Plenty of other Goodies worth a look.

    1. Is there a way to find just the sale items on the site? Or did you have to search for specific items?

I’ve been trying, but the site’s filtering system sucks.

      1. You can search for the different deals.
If you go to the home page – hover over ‘music’ under the Rarewaves logo and you’ll find ‘offers then just click on the deals you might be interested in.

    2. Thank you for mentioning that TREV.

Sadly i already bought the ELP (though at the time for a really good price) at the beginning of this year and the Japan set with its unwanted vinyl disc and an almost unlistenable live cd is still too expansive but i found several other interesting stuff for me, the highlight being all 14 Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds CD+DVD reissues from about ten years ago for 7€ (or, i’m guessing, £6) including surround mixes of the albums.

For what its worth i also included the two live releases of that era, ‘Live Seeds’ and NCATBS ‘Live At The Royal Albert Hall’ although these are just plain cds.

      Completement issues me thinks…

      1. Yeah, it’s an 8% discount voucher (code is FORYOU8). If you search “beatles revolver cd box” on ebay you can see the result with the 8% voucher on it.

        1. I bet when you order from them you have to ask them “where’s my stuff” at least once. I don’t know what it is with them but every order I’ve had with them I’ve had to get back to them.

So why do I order from them? Their customer service is excellent, prompt replies and the item will arrive not sooner maybe but later and if I’ve ordered from them the price must be right.

          1. I’ve been lucky with my Chalky’s orders – not too many though – just a couple a year. Having real problems at the moment with Music Magpie. Tend to buy on Ebay when they run “15% off” type promotions. Packaging is weak so several damaged items this year. They refund when you send back – never the option to exchange. The item is still on Ebay but of course it’s now back to full price. Last two orders just didn’t show up! When i asked for tracking info, I got an immediate refund, but no explanation.

          2. Chalky are awful and I avoid them. I’ve ordered a couple of things from them via Amazon, they marked them as dispatched but on both occassions I had to contact them and received the same reply – they didn’t actually have the item in stock and they had accidentally marked them as dispatched. When I replied that they were selling the same items on eBay, they claimed it was an “oversight”. Amateurs – steer well clear.

  15. For those in the US – Udiscover music also has “12 days of Christmas” type daily deals and some are pretty good.
Today has McCartney Ameoba gig double vinyl for only $10, and Tug of War for only $8. There’s also the ongoing 30% off sitewide promotion and free shipping in the US.
If only the UK website would run similar promotions…..

  16. Marillion’s Fugazi 4 x LP box set is £28.35 on Amazon UK.

I’m still waiting for Marillion’s Holiday In Eden cd / bluray set to have a bargain price.

    1. There’s a deal on at the moment if your prepared to go and collect it from an Amazon drop off you get £7 voucher I ordered the Marillion and consequently got it for £21 need to collect from the local Post Office tomorrow.

  17. Cherry Red Records have an extra 30% off their sale items with the code LETITSNOW30. Sale items already heavily discounted include their three Mercury Rev box sets.

    1. Yep, a great offer. The excellent Mercury Rev album All Is Dream comes in two 4CD versions. I’ve [picked up the “exclusive” Cherry Red edition (500 copies only) for £33.99 including shipping after the discount. This includes :
      • The existing commercial 4-CD hardback edition of All Is Dream.
      • An exclusive 7” featuring the previously unissued tracks ‘The Brook Room’ and ‘Back Into The Sun (You’re The One)’.
      • A deluxe 7” box set housing the above 4-CD.
      • A hand-signed lyric sheet for ‘The Dark Is Rising’.
      • Three exclusive button badges.
      • A 14” x 14” poster of the original album cover.
      • Three 7” prints of the artwork from the three original singles ‘Nite And Fog’, the classic opening track ‘The Dark Is Rising’ and ‘Little Rhymes’.

If you don’t need the signed lyric sheet etc then the “basic” deluxe additon would be an absolute bargain at probably around £18 delivered after the discount.

    2. Many thanks as I snagged the 5 CD of Mercury Rev’s Snowflake Midnight and the 4 CD of Adeva for £30 inc postage! That’s 9 CDS! Excellent job!

      1. The live disc of secret migration won’t play the last 2 tracks, there us a fault on the disc. If you contact cherry red they will send you a replacement live disc that does work. Not sure why they don’t swap the ones in the box set, or just send the replacement when you buy it. Worth knowing you can get the disc replaced though, even if you bought it some time ago

  18. Cherry Red have 30% off their current sale items (code LETITSNOW30) – the pick of the bunch for me is that all three Mercury Rev multi-disc sets (All Is Dream 4CD, Snowflake Midnight 5CD, The Secret Migration 5CD) are in there, which means you can essentially pick up all 14CDs for sub-£45 including delivery, which is a really superb bargain (those albums and extras are great).

Quick note on The Secret Migration set – there was a pressing issue on disc 4 so check it plays straight away and request a replacement from Cherry Red if it’s broken (mine was sent really fast).

  19. The deluxe edition (4CD/7″/Tape) of the John Hughes soundtrack compilation (Life Moves Pretty Fast: The John Hughes Mixtapes) has dropped about £30 from its launch price a few weeks ago to £66. Still reasonably expensive (the standard 4CD set is £31) but it’s a nice compilation and looks like it’s pretty well presented etc.

    https://amzn.to/3HHO7ez

  20. First drop on the Beatles Revolver CD Box Set on Amazon UK, down to £90. Suspect this one will fall further in the future, but it’s a decent drop from the launch price.

  21. Udiscovermusic.com now has 30% off with code cheer. Valid through 12.27.2022. Found the 2015 simple minds vinyl collection 7LP box for $87.00, down from $125.00.

        1. Maybe not a bargain, as such, but they also have a hardback of Nick Cave’s Complete Lyrics at a good price (compared to the flimsy paperback edition). This is a limited release and not available in general bookstores.

        1. This offer has been floating on and off for a couple of weeks. It’s definitely worth keeping an eye on – feels like this one isn’t over just yet….

          1. I had it on my Amazon watch list after I missed it first time around, managed to snag one this time around but the deal did go within an hour and a half or so.

  22. Humble Pie’s 7CD box set the A&M Years is currently down to £69.91 on Amazon UK (I also had an Amazon locker collection promo which took another £7 off, so a further reduction to £62.91).

  23. Not a ‘wow’ deal, but the John Morales presents Tina Marie cd is down to £20, where it’s been stuck at £25. Based on the stunning work John Morales has done with the Teddy Pendergrass remixes, I’m looking forward to getting the Tina Marie edition.

  24. 12 Days Of Christmas @ Rhino.com in the US has Otis Redding 7 Vinyl Mono Box Set Complete Albums for $65.00 (down from $107). Also bagged as pre-order is the 2023 release of 101 by Depeche Mode 180g double vinyl for $20.00 (down from $34.00)

  25. On Deal at the moment on Amazon UK is the Nancy Sinatra – Start Walkin’ compilation. This is only the “Digipak” version, but if you’re like me and missed out on this previously, it’s not a bad price at £17.59. It was £24.

  26. I bought the John Mayall box in February 2021. It cost me about £240. Do they still send the replacement disc for the disc 20? It has a wrong track in it. I got my replacement in April 2021!

  27. Francoise Hardy Le Coffret Essentiel 10 CD set now down around £20 at a few places online, from a previous £35 or so, I got mine from Rarewaves. For those in London, Nick Lowe’s Brentford Trilogy is on the sale counter at Sister Ray in Berwick Street for a scarcely credible £3.99.

    1. John Mayall 35 disc also £175 on AmazonUK. Sold by third party – Vinylhead (Burning Shed group company) but dispatched by Amazon, so no shipping charge within UK
Remember if you buy from either Burning Shed or Amazon that this set will contain an incorrect disc, so you will need to request a replacement one from Snapper music (they were really quick with mine)

      1. Hi – recently got the Mayall set from Burning Shed, but haven’t got very far through yet. Which is the incorrect disc and do you have to send it back to Snapper to get the replacement? Thanks

        1. For those who bought the Mayall box, the faulty disc is «Thru the years» #SMABX1140-20. No need to set it back the Snapper for a replacement disk. Received mine last week. It took around 4 weeks to arrive in Québec by regular post. Go to the Snapper contact page. Very kind people. Responds rapidly. They care about their customers.

      2. Dear Simon – thank you for pointing this out. I will need to ask for a replacement. @Paul Sinclair – can you please start a separate section for faulty box sets and where to get replacements. It is not always possible to pick these up. Many thanks

  28. If you missed out on it way back when it was cheap, the Beatles Abbey Road Super Deluxe is £58 on Amazon ES. Not a huge amount in that set (3CD/BR) but it’s nicely presented and at least it has that Blu Ray…

    1. Sorry to hear that. I wouldn’t loose too much sleep over it though. This one is piled high in warehouses so keep watching for more alerts soonest. This won’t have been your only opportunity

    2. Did the same & was delivered today – looks like pot luck. I see that on the Amazon. It site this set is now showing as not available for shipping to UK so looks like they closed that loophole

  29. For people looking for a deal on the Depeche Mode vinyl box sets, Rhino.com has a great sale. Construction Time Again $75, Playing The Angel $105, A Broken Frame $36, Songs Of Faith & Devotion $105, Ultra $105, Exciter $105. Great deals.
Ultra is even cheaper on Amazon.com for $98.

      1. I saw that. Not sure if it is a true reissue because the Violator box is sold out and impossible to find yet that is not being reissued. If they reissue these boxes, that should be the first box to be reissued. I think their stock is probably being updated rather than a true reissue. These boxes are also numbered.

  30. Small one but Amazon UK have a 2 for £15 on a really random couple of bits – including the recent 2CD edition of Motorhead’s Iron Fist, the CCR Live At Royal Albert Hall CD and the recent releases from RHCP, Ozzy, a-Ha, Simple Minds and a couple of other things.

    https://amzn.to/3WcCGQj

    1. Thanks as always Matt, haven’t seen an offer like that on Amazon.uk in a long time.

Went for the CCR live album, Essential Foo Fighters and the new releases by RHCP, Simple Minds, Heaton / Abbott and a new album of Jean Michel Jarre which i totally wasn’t aware of.

In the light of the events of this morning in Germany i added (amongst some other things) the book ‘Widowland’ by CJ Carey, a crime novel set in an alternate reality where the UK and Germany bonded in 1940 and won WWII and England is now ruled by King Edward VIII and Queen Wallis. It was described in a review i read some time ago as a blend of ‘1984’, ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ and ‘Fatherland’ which sounds interesting to me.

Sadly the new a-Ha album obviously went AWOL from the offer since your post.

  31. Great spot on Revolver. I could have pulled the trigger – but even at this price I decided against. When this SDE was announced, the first thing I did was subscribe to a streaming platform – something I have resisted as I love physical product. However, this release just takes the mickey. I can listen to this in Hi Res – higher quality than the physical CD and I can also listen to a compressed surround mix – but better than no surround mix. So splashing even GBP 63 for a book is poor value. With the blu ray this would be a no brainer buy at a higher price point. I think many fans think the same and hence this is not shifting in the volumes predicted. Seems that the record companies want to force us all into streaming. A sad day for me. Once the vinyl halves in price I might be in….

      1. That said does anyone here have a clue why on earth ‘Here Comes The Sun’ is by far the most streamed song by The Beatles on Spotify and will most likely be their first tune to reach the billion streams mark?

Has it lately been featured in ‘Stranger Things’? ;-)

  32. Not a deal as such but Burning Shed have got a repress of Jethro Tull’s Thick As a Brick 40th anniversary CD/DVD. Hopefully, we’ll get a repress of Songs From The Wood too.

  33. That was a decent reduction on Revolver, certainly, but if you missed out just remember this – it’s been out less than 6 weeks. It will be even cheaper in the coming months, guaranteed.

  34. I had three Amazon deliveries today – one from Amazon UK, one from Amazon Italy and one from Amazon France – all in the same big box! Each item was also individually packaged but nevertheless – scarily co-ordinated.

    1. OK, don’t rub it in!

Seriously though, I am really pleased for everyone that got it and can only hope for a similar deal and that I spot it quicker than I did this one.

I usually have SDE open virtually all the time, but, good excuse, my son came home from Perth WA after 3 years away yesterday morning.

      1. I too have SDE open all the time and was busy picking my 20 best albums of `22 whilst this offer came and went. Not too bothered though because I got the LP/7” set at a great price but I always buy both the LP & CD Beatles sets and like the rest of you know for certain the CD set will be much lower in price.

      2. A good excuse Pete. You’ve got your priorities right.
My daughter is due to arrive from London (to Perth) in 17 days time. Also haven’t seen her for 3 years and it will be our first Christmas together for 9 years. Can’t wait.
        There will be other deals:)

        1. Thanks both, there will indeed be other deals.
Roel, you live in an amazing part of the world and I hope that you have a wonderful Christmas with your daughter.

  35. Rolling Stones Tattoo You deluxe 5 Vinyl edition is at 49.99€ on Amazon France since this afternoon. Offer finishes midnight French time, that is 1PM for the UK.

  36. Ordered the Let it be Set for 44 Euros as a premature Christmas gift for myself. Over half the price than on Amazon Germany Thanks for the great deal Paul!

  37. Excellent! Ordered the Let it Be box-set. Thanks for the heads up. I will never buy Revolver, no matter how good the deal is due to the lack of a blu-ray. I still don’t know what Apple were thinking re the exclusion. Atmos on streaming services over headphones will never be a substitute for a physical release – and, IMHO, in most instances a well-mixed discrete 5.1 mix wins hands down over atmos, with electronic music being the exception.
I believe that many have purchased the previous anniversary editions mainly because of the blu-rays. I know that’s why I purchased them. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Revolver box-sets coming down significantly in the near future due to unsold stock.

    1. Yes, I bought previous releases for the Bluray but also for the remix, the outtakes/alt. versions, the book, because it was the bloody Beatles.

So more than one reason Sean O but I do agree about the lack of a Bluray. I suspect a box of remastered/remixed Blurays for all the albums and for lots of€/£/$/¥ from us customers. Just thinking Macca sang “You never give me your money” in a reference to that bastard Allen Klein. Since then Macca and Apple have been fleecing fans, just sayin’

  38. Just checked out the new Harvest 50th Anniversary box set on theNeil Young Greedy Hand website(s).
As I feared, the UK website doesn’t mention a hi-res download code with the product, whereas the US website does. Why are we being short-changed every time by the UK store? It’s a download code, where’s the difficulty?

    1. Are you sure! I’m certain I’ve had hi-rez downloads with my purchases from the U.K. Shoppe. I bought Harvest 50 from the cheapest place at the time (Rarewaves). I normally buy from the artiste`s site if available but Shakey’s got enough money.

      1. After the Archives 2 problems with delivering downloads to UK/Europe customers, I noticed that quite a few of their items (in the UK) had the download codes listed in the descriptions which did not appear when added to the basket. The same problem didn’t happen with the U.S. website. I emailed the UK store about it and they said they’d look into it – I never heard any more.
It still seems very hit and miss as to whether a hi-res download is listed as part of the purchase; for example it’s NOT listed in UK for Harvest but is in the US. On the US site it seems pretty clear that you get a download code with your cd/lp purchase, but it is not clear-cut when you look at items on the UK site. My advice would be to ask them before you make a purchase if it’s not clearly stated, but good luck getting a reply.
I will certainly check before I buy Archives 3 from the UK store next year (or whenever). I bought Archives 2 from the US store (having read all the issues the UK store was having) and had no issues at all, but sadly postage is now too expensive to do that again.

  39. Thanks for the heads up, Paul! Managed to order it, I have been waiting for the price to come down tbh!!,
just ordered the Let it be box set too from amazon.fr what a result!!

  40. I just upgraded the delivery from standard to ‘fast’ for £2 extra which now means instead of arriving on December 15th, it will be coming ‘tomorrow’ (5th)! That’s what I call a good upgrade. Presumably they must just shunt one down from Inverness that’s already there as most imports seem to come via there.

    1. Just managed to upgrade my delivery to tomorrow also, with ipad in one hand, Google translate on mobile in the other hand – what a heart-stopping 5 mins THAT was!

    2. I’d like to do the same with my order but struggling to know how to do it due to my lack of understanding of the Italian language. Would you be able to point me in the right direction please.

      1. What browser are you using? I’m using Microsoft Edge and there is a translate page button on the toolbar so the Italian miraculously is refreshed into English. If you go into the order, then edit order, you can change the shipping the expedited

    3. Hi Rare Glam, I managed to jump on this whilst on a brief stop at a motorway service station (Thanls as always SDE Paul).

I’m stuck on a mobile phone for the next 36 hours, how did you expedite delivery? (I’m. It an Italian speaker).

  41. Thanks Paul. Had set my target price at £80 for this set. This is a great price! Paid the extra for the UK sourced delivery. Keep up your great work!!

  42. Well that didn’t last long got the email alert clicked the link after walking the dog and it was gone!. Hopefully it will come around again!.

      1. I thought I had reasonable musical knowledge, but I admit that I had to google that one :)
Think I’ve only got one CS CD – must explore the back catalogue

  43. “the only thing you need to worry about is how long this deal will last!” – only about an hour it seems , Revolver already back up to €112 !

  44. Thanks Paul, for this notification. I’ve just ordered it. My main argument with this release – although it is disappointing that there isn’t a Blu-Ray – has been the price for what was on offer. At £65 (I paid an extra £2 for ‘rapid’ delivery, whatever that turns out to be!), this now seems a reasonable buy. We’ll probably find Amazon UK goes down to £48 or something next week, but there we go.

      1. I’d always advise paying a bit extra for shipping with these kinds of deals, because if the price is an error – which I’m fairly sure it’s not in this instance –  sometimes they won’t have time to stop you getting the item!

          1. Legally & for tax reasons it’s not ‘already in the UK’. It’s stock that’s allocated to & on the books of offshore Amazon sites & by ordering fast delivery from within the UK you’re technically gaming their system, as to hit the fast delivery target they are pulling Euro stock held in the nearest Euro-hub which happens to be located the UK. If you choose standard delivery they quote 10-14 days for delivery & will usually actually physically ship from Europe rather than the UK.

          2. That does sound crazy, doesn’t it? However, I guess that there are inter-company reasons for the additional charge. No doubt Amazon.it has to pay a charge to whichever company within the group holds this item up in Scotland. Whatever the explanation, from my point of view it still makes sense to pay the £2 and get it more than a week earlier, especially at this of year, and the fact that it’s not travelling so far is a bonus.

      2. Isn’t that weird?! Does that mean that they charge £2.00 *more* for domestic shipping than for international shipping? I don’t understand these things anymore …

        1. It’s not that complex. It’s not ‘domestic shipping’. It’s a different country store with different inventory – the stock is just held in Scotland. Amazon UK have no visibility on stock levels/orders placed on other Amazon sites & no access to the back-end on other Amazon sites. There is no way they could ship an item from Italy for next day delivery so if you’re in the UK & choose the fast delivery it comes from the stock allocated in Scotland for European sites (especially Northern Europe/Scandinavia etc). If you order standard delivery then it takes approx 10-14 days as it comes from Europe & needs to be picked, packed, shipped to border, clear customs, travel to UK , clear UK customs, travel to Amazon hub, then to local Amazon warehouse, then on a van to your address.

          1. That bit I understand. What I don’t understand is why in that case they charge £2 more to have item shipped to me within the same country, i.e. domestically. No international shipping, no customs clearance, no exra paper work, etc. You’d think all that is what would make it more expensive. But that’s the cheaper option …

  45. just goes to show how much they can knock down the price and still profit, which makes the original price an absolute disgrace and an insult to the buyer !

    1. You’ve obviously never bought anything in your life. When i worked as buyer for a few departments stores the standard cost price was less than 1/10th the retail cost – if you buy a jumper for £80, it probably had a cost price of around £5. Why do you think Tesco can do buy-one-get-one-free on a can of beans & still make a profit

  46. Wow! Thanks for that heads up Paul, glad I happened to tootle on to SDL on a Sunday, that’s a big saving, just £63 including postage, grabbed immediately. Now if they could just do the same with that Bowie Hunky Dory set…

  47. Great deal – thanks for the heads up. Comes in at just over £63 with postage. My copy of the Let it Be also from Amazon. It arrived very quickly so it should be here soon. An early Christmas present to myself.

  48. Thanks for the alert. Ordered immediately. No way is it ever going to be any cheaper than £63. I paid an extra couple of quid to get it delivered tomorrow rather than wait till the 16th which is how long you’d have to wait for standard delivery from Italy to UK.

    1. It will be cheaper than £63. Just a matter of having patience. Waited a year to get Let it Be at £44. I can do the same for Revolver. It’s only been out a few weeks and already it’s dropped massively. Let It Be held it’s price for much longer.

    1. Well that turned into a bit of a nightmare ! I ordered it instantly – paid via debit card… which was debited from my bank but failed with Amazon, so I paid again with a different bank card, which was debited again from my bank and failed again…. contacted Amazon Italy Live chat and managed to sort the problem out (hopefully) by paying a 3rd time on my original bank card I used the first time…. So I’ve paid £189.12 for one box set and Amazon are supposed to be refunding me £126.08 when the one box set ships! It’s now gone up to 141 Euros / £120.00 on Amazon!

      1. That is interesting because a week or so ago Amazon refused a purchase on me using the Visa Debit card I always use and have successfully used since. Wonder if this is some glitch in their payment system.

Missed this deal so sitting here crying into my milk on a wet and miserable Sunday in Dublin.

  49. Blimey! Ordered, I even pushed the boat out and paid an extra couple of quid for fast delivery :)
First time ordering from Amazon Italy, so hope it’s all good.

  50. Thanks so much for the heads up Paul, I’ve now manged to get both the Let It Be and Revolver sets from Amazon IT in the space of a month… for the price of one! Early Xmas gift for me :)

  51. Many thanks. Ordered. Will come to £63.04 all in. Note – there is a limit of 1 copy on this. I tried to buy two – one extra for a Christmas present – and the page just hung for ages. Looks like my brother will be getting a jumper again for Christmas
