  1. My copy showed up yesterday. Signed, no. Slightly damaged, yes. Overpriced, yes. Groovy fifteen remixes, yes. Fun match with Olympia, yes. Regrets, no.

  2. Marcel- here’s the unofficial answer: PayPal is no longer a valid option for box sets over 150 Euros! Perhaps a credit card installment plan is warranted here – could refinance the house also. One extra bit is that if I’m asked to go back in my time machine to purchase vinyl when all I want are CDs, than at least make the trip legit and give me the video on VHS instead of DVD. Just sayin’.

  3. We are at. A crossroads for music fans. Less are buying and we are seeing more of these deluxe sets that are overpriced and rather meaningless. What Bryan and other artists need to realize is that, as their fanbase grows older, they want the opportunity to buy these things the first time otherwise, they feel like they are being fleeced.

They need to,think through and ask fans what they want rather than guess otherwise these sets will not sell. For this price I personally would expect each set to be hand numbered and signed by Bryan.

  4. although i am an insane roxy/ferry fan i would love to see the “dance Away” versions from in your mind and bride albums together with the extended version of “in every dreamhome” from for your pleasure which included the lyrics subsequently used on san sim3on from frantic

  5. There wasn’t really an RAH gig. Bryan failed to show. There I was, front row seat, copy ready for signing afterwards… Sigh. At least I had a nice beer at the start, before the announcement.

  6. News of this set piqued my interest because Avonmore is a tremendous addition to Bryan Ferry’s storied career. I bought the CD upon release. I lucked upon a vinyl copy of the album for $16.98 USD at a bay area record store earlier this month. I’m thinking I have enough Avonmore for the time being, perhaps forever.

      1. i think there are few artists whose voices have aged as beautifully as bryan ferry’s. does he sound like he did in the 80’s? no, and in my opinion, that’s a good thing – we get musical maturity, vocal variety, and artistic evolution.

      2. I don’t remember saying that I wasn’t a fan – I love Roxy stuff and would be keen to buy 5.1 reissues of such. I like Bryan’s early solo stuff also. But you can keep the dirge-like stuff on this album. Cheers!

  7. Im not a fan of releases that are “100 randomly signed….”
Should be 1st 100 signed, Bryan, you need to check out what Suede and Manics put into their sets for around £50, £100 is far too expensive for this

  8. dammit! this is what i get for buying the japanese edition with 2 remixes tacked-on. i adore special editions such as this, but it’s unethical to release them (hear me here DAVID BOWIE powers) a year later when they should have been an option at original release time.

  9. So no unreleased Ferry material (only unreleased remixes). At £100 and on the same day as Springsteen’s River box and the deluxe Fleetwood Mac Tusk? Sorry Bryan but not this time for me. Now if someone in high places had got the Roxy Music and For Your Pleasure deluxe sets out for Christmas instead of this then you would have had a very happy buyer here….

  10. I think an opportunity was missed on this one, as the book has pictures from the live show, but the DVD doesn’t have a live show on it!

Still, it’s gorgeous, and numbered, and a 7% chance of being autographed. But at the same time, all the bonus audio material is simply remixes. You can buy nearly 4 hours of remixes from Olympia for $10-$15, so we know what that’s really worth. Decisions, decisions.

  11. I always feel ripped off when a deluxe version of an album comes out just one year after the original release. Anniversaries like 20 or 25 years is okay, but one year? I already gave my money to an artist because I’m a fan of his Music, and shortly afterwards I am expected to buy the album again for extra stuff that was available one year before and not lost in some dusty archive. I hate this kind or marketing from the bottom of my heart!

  12. Bryan was nice enough to send me a personal email offering this package including a 48 page booklet that might, or might not, be signed for $163.28

I didn’t go as far as to see what the shipping and handling would be.

  13. Bundling vinyl with other formats need to stop. For a lot of people it is a useless addition, inflating the price and the size of the packaging.

What’s prohibitive about offering a vinyl and DVD/Bluray option and a CD and DVD/Bluray option in terms of releasing music.

If you want to buy a car they don’t make you pay for a moped they have bundled into the price do they?

    1. I agree Beth. I gave up vinyl in 1986 and do not intend to go back – more gear I don’t need and more space I don’t have. As music is archived now in 96kHz/24 bit digital form, special (and hopefully in the future all) releases should come with a CD/DVD or CD/Blu-ray edition with vinyl separate so those who want vinyl can pay for it, and those who don’t won’t have to subsidize it. But record companies are businesses and not interested in doing what is best for the consumer or fan.

  14. For 150 euro all copy’s must be signed! Just like Steve Wilson signed his last album randomly… I ordered that but have never seen anyone posted a pic of his signed album… So are there really any signed albums if they said 100 out of 1500 or is it just another marketing thing

    1. I don’t see why anyone would say they are not and not distribute. It would be false trading.

I ordered the XM set by Porcupine Tree in about 2003/2004 from Burning Shed. I forgot about it and out of blue I had an email stating that due to an error, I was forgotten and that I would get the item soon. When I got the CD it was signed by three members of PT including Steven Wilson. The item was advertised as being signed randomly for this too.
