Genesis / 1976-1982 Vinyl box set
Virgin Records will release a vinyl box set of the Genesis 1976-1982 studio albums collection on 5 November 2012. The five albums will all be pressed on heavyweight vinyl with the original artwork being replicated.
Albums in the box are A Trick Of A Tail (1976), Wind & Wuthering (1976), And Then There Were Three (1978), Duke (1980) and Abacab (1981).
Pre-order links are below. We’d advise checking out the German amazon link, which at the time of writing is a full £50 cheaper than the UK site, offering the box for a very attractive £70 price tag (€88).

I’d be buying this for completist tendencies only (not the first time!!). Problem one…no turntable. Problem two….these are the worst remastered albums of the entire catalogue, especially “Duke”. It’s so bright and mixed cymbal-heavy, I go back to the 1994 stereo remaster now. Shame cos I love 5.1 and ‘Duke’ one of my favourite albums, not just of Genesis but by anyone. The box would look pretty on the shelf though, I must admit.
Already ordered it. I just hope they’ll also release the 1983-1998 box in the future, even though I already have all those albums on vinyl. Boxsets <3
As a massive Genesis fan, I have no problem with releasing these albums on Vinyl. If you want them, then go get them, thats fine. I have no interest now that I have them all in 5.1 EVEN if they RE-REleased these again on CD with a better version then I would not be interested either. However I think if you want a vinyl version thats cool. I don’t think the band is ripping off fans at all with these releases. I think the the band have realised they have gone as fan as they can with the current batch of box sets. I would say te next bunch of box sets to come outmay be in ten years when MAYBE a member or 2 have passed and the family find something else thats been missed….but lets not dwell on that and just enjoy the current music.
UK price on Amazon WAY too expensive to make it worthwhile.
Ahhh, makes sense now you say that . The times I’ve been stung I’ve imported from the US.
Will have to give it a go!
Beware the cheaper prices, you’ll pay VAT on the import and a charge on top of that.
Often works out to the same price, or even sometimes more expensive.
Hi James – this isn’t the case within Europe. Germany is £50 cheaper than UK and apart from a (normally cheap) shipping charge, nothing extra to pay.
Will you be writing to Peter again about this plan to rip his home fans off?
Peter isn’t even on these albums….
