This October Sony will release Anthologia, a four-disc collection of the work of the ‘punk poet’ John Cooper Clarke.
Anthologia brings together material from a career spanning over 40 years, and incorporates studio versions with music from Martin Hannett and Invisible Girls plus spoken word performances across three CDs.
The fourth disc is a DVD which features rare and unseen footage dating back to the Old Grey Whistle Test in 1978 through to the more recent Palace Theatre Manchester show from 2014.
The booklet will contain ‘written tributes’ by the likes of Paul McCartney, Alex Turner, Hugh Cornwell and boasts liner notes by Nick Kent.
Tenuous SDE link: JCC has toured in the past with similarly cool ‘dub poet’ Linton Kwesi Johnson, who used to live a few doors down from this writer back in the late 1990s!
Anthologia is released on 16 October 2015. There will also be a double-vinyl ‘highlights’ edition.

The CDs seem quite short . Some of these tracks are not very long so I wouldve expected 20 tracks a least per disc .
Also cant beleive theres no room for “The Day My Pad Went Mad” My favorite .
I thought this looked like it only contained early JCC material from the time when he was signed to Rabid Records.
………………………and the live disc may only have those tracks if “between poems banter” is included, pushing the running time up.

I wonder if that tracklisting is right? Igmoring the DVD, the CDs find no space for Chickentown or Beasley St (yet they are on the highlights vinyl) but finds space to duplicate other tracks e.g. 3 versions of Monster from….
And the whole thing looks a bit skimpy? Those CDs would only be about 45 mins each, wouldn’t they?….

Why do discs 1 and 2 have the same track listing?
Disc 1 is live, disc 2 isn’t.
The first two CDs do not have the same tracks – the answer above is incorrect. The track listing on the first CD of the 3 CD/1DVD set as listed above is incorrect.
