Kiss / The Casablanca Singles 1974-1982 box set
American rock band Kiss release The Casablanca Singles 1974-1982 Box Set on 14 Jan 2012. This limited edition set includes all 29 singles released on the legendary Casablanca label.
The band released a total of 29 singles on seven-inch 45-RPM records for the Casablanca label, in their early years. Often, many of these singles had entirely different mixes, edits and material that didn’t appear on their vinyl albums.

There are two versions of the box, one with 29 CD singles and one with 29 seven-inch vinyl records.
The sets are housed in a die-cut shadow box with a limited edition, etched silver metal plate and ribbon-pull magnetic closure, custom KISS 45s box with 26 collectible picture sleeves from original single releases around the world, including Japan, Germany, Holland, Spain and Britain. The vinyl collection also features singles from all four solo albums in purple, blue, red and green vinyl with a picture sleeve representing each individual member as originally released in the U.K. Both sets also include a booklet which tracks the genesis and chart history of each single represented in the package and four individual KISS masks..

Got the cd box-set, love the cardboard replica sleeves, and the alternate mixes are awesome to hear, especially Detroit Rock City, Calling Dr Love, Sure Know Something, Strutter 78 and a couple others. Very cool!
The bullshit part is the Shout It Out Loud (live) b-side, Nothing To Lose (live), which is supposedly a KISS ALIVE II reject, and as the booklet states “makes the inclusion a true collector’s item”, but it is in fact the version already released on KISS ALIVE. Minor thingy, I know.
I’m extremely happy for my $169.00 bucks!
I bought it and every disc skips like a son of a bitch!! It’s obviously not meant for playing. Universal Music will not respond to my complaints. and HMV will NOT give me a cash refund!! so I’m fucked with a $280 box set that you can’t actually listen too!!! WTF???!!!
my advise…. DON’T BUY IT!! or I’ll sell you mine for cost!!
KISS haven’t been the same since they dressed their road manager up to look like Ace Frehley.
They should release one more box set like the Judas Priest Complete Collection and call it quits. I loooove the band, but they’re really overstaying their welcome. I’d love a box set with the entire discography neatly organized, compiled and presented. That would save me a ton of space on my CD rack which is getting smaller and smaller every week. That said, I will not be getting this box set since I already own every song on the albums I have. Don’t think alt. mixes justifies the price anyhow, when The Clash released their singles box (which I bought for 18 bucks) it wasn’t that essential, but man was it worth it. So beautifully presented and replicated I didn’t regret spending the little money it cost. I don’t think I can say the same for this one.
However, if this is the beginning of some useful plundering of the Casablanca vaults, bring it on.
Wow. That is the least appealing boxset I have seen…erm…ever. Even if the band were any good, who could be bothered getting up to the turntable dozens of times to hear all the songs. Pricey too.
