Last chance to order the Def Leppard blu-ray

Diamond Star Halos in Atmos!

The pre-order window Def Leppard’s Diamond Star Halos SDE-exclusive blu-ray audio – number 16 in the ongoing SDE Surround Series – closes tomorrow.

This physical product is the only way to own Steven Wilson’s Dolby Atmos Mix of the album from 2022 and it also contains an exclusive instrumental mix of the record. Along with the standard stereo version, the blu-ray features two rare bonus tracks, unreleased outside of Japan.

The Diamond Star Halos SDE-exclusive blu-ray will be released on 12 January 2024 via Mercury/UMR. Secure your copy by pre-ordering via the SDE shop using this link or the pre-order button, below.

Don’t miss out! This is your last chance to guarantee you get a copy. There may be some cancellation/contingency stock around the time of release, but this is not guaranteed (it didn’t happen with Duran Duran, for example).

TECHNICAL NOTES: This blu-ray audio requires a blu-ray player. Decoding the Dolby Atmos mix requires a Dolby Atmos-certified soundbar or a Dolby Atmos-compatible AV Receiver/Amp. The Dolby Atmos mix will ‘fold down’ to 5.1 or stereo if a Dolby Atmos decoder is not detected.

  1. Came in today. Listed to the stereo mix while working and the 2 bonus tracks.
Too bad it didn’t include the two EU edition tracks Goodbye For Good This Time (Avant-garde Mix) and Lifeless (Joe Only Version).

    1. Getting the tracks everyone in the EU could get on the deluxe at the time would have been easy, but securing those Japan-only tracks was very difficult. No we couldn’t have both, so obviously the rarer ones made sense.

  2. The original stereo master is horribly limited and lacking dynamics (DR6).

I doubt the stereo mix has been remastered dynamically for Blu Ray (?) or the pre-mastered stereo mix used for a flat transfer (shame!)

However the new surround mix is unlikely to be limited at all and will fold down to a dynamic stereo mix.

    Paul,

Going forward it would be great if you could get the original stereo mixes remastered dynamically for Blu Ray or at least include the original stereo mix pre-mastering, the latter costs the label nothing.

  3. Ordered mine earlier today as I knew the deadline was either today or tomorrow, and I’m still on target for having all 16 so far…and aren’t the Trevor Horn & Soft Cell being dispatched this week?? Oh joy!!

      1. Apparently Soft Cell landed on my doormat, Trevor Horn depends on whether my local Post Orifice can decide to deliver on a Saturday, something they have singularly failed to do in recent weeks!

          1. Par for the course. The real good news is listening to these superb releases, the bad news is there being a shortage of hours in the day!!
