Last chance to order the Tears For Fears ‘The Tipping Point’ blu-ray
Pre-order window about to close
Tomorrow, the two-week pre-order window for the SDE-exclusive blu-ray audio of Tears For Fears new album The Tipping Point closes.
There will no availability after 4 May 2022, so this really is your last chance to secure a physical copy of Steven Wilson’s stupendous Dolby Atmos and 5.1 mixes of this wonderful album.
The release date for this second pressing of the blu-ray audio is 17 June 2022. This product is only available via the SDE shop. To pre-order, use this link or the button below. Your order will be shipped during that week of release. We will endeavour to get your blu-ray to you as close to day of release as possible, but please note that is not a guarantee.
TECHNICAL NOTES: This blu-ray audio requires a blu-ray player. Decoding the Dolby Atmos mix requires a Dolby Atmos-certified soundbar or a Dolby Atmos-compatible AV Receiver/Amp. The Dolby Atmos mix will ‘fold down’ to 5.1 or stereo if a Dolby Atmos decoder is not detected. The DTS HD 5.1 mix should work with virtually all home cinema set-ups.
EU SHIPPING NOTES: If you are ordering from the EU please be aware that that goods may be subject to import VAT when they arrive from the UK. The prices the SDE shop charge you do not include VAT.

What can I say… I missed the pre-order window for both releases too!
And for what I’ve read, I’m missing something awesome… please, release a third pressing!!
Not sure where to leave this comment Paul. Got the second edition thank you! However, the booklet was just shoved in there and has some minor rips and is folded on the ends. Is there someway to get a replacement booklet? I don’t need a replacement for the whole thing Oand it wouldn’t be available anyway). Disappointed that whomever put the booklet in it during the packaging process was so careless. You did a great job but Concord music (or whomever put this together needs to be more careful).
Just received my Blu Ray today. Wow…what a mix !!
Blown away by it. Thanks Paul for all your work.
My first time ordering from SDE shop but won’t be my last.
One thing – bit disappointed there wasn’t a booklet with a few notes etc. Was this a conscious decision?
Thanks! There was the interview in the SDE CD. More of a Concord decision really, there wasn’t a lot of time when this blu-ray was originally put together!
Fair enough. It’s a minor thing and worth the omission for the quality of the surround mix. Steve Wilson has excelled himself again.
I just got my BluRay today, a day early from the release date, I expected to get it a month late because I’m in Canada. Thank you Paul so much. Great product and amazing service.
You’re welcome Phillip!
Maybe we need a 3rd edition to screw up the scalpers ? 250€ !

Yes, I missed the pre-order window both times .
Ordered. Thanks!
So, Paul, how many TFF fans signed up for this edition? (Besides me.)
2500 is the run for the second edition and they are all sold out.
very impressive!
That is great news. Happy for the 2500 extra people that get to hear this treasure
Great music. Great mix — and “proper” mastering, especially in “surround.” All who purchased this T4F, HFPA BR-A will be well-rewarded!
Kudos to Paul and Co. for providing this 2nd chance!
On a personal note, as a SDE “5.1+ poster” for nearly a decade now, I want to thank Paul and Anne for there tireless efforts in bringing this BR-A to my doorstep – to our doorsteps.
“Thank you.”
Wonder if we’ll get anyone complaining they missed it….really no excuses this time !
Exactly! My sympathy will be limited :)
To what amount?
Touché ;)
Super stoked this received a repress and promptly ordered when announced! Thanks for making this happen SDE community and PS
Missed out in the first one, ordered all the way to Canada. Now if only Tears For Fears would do some Canadian concert dates.
Well, I caved and bought it. Just couldn’t resist the temptation.
OK, went and ordered one to be shipped across the pond. Had no idea that they were still makin’ HFPA discs!
I’ve missed out on this one the first time, but I have just ordered this Blu-ray. Thanks Paul for the second pressing of this album.
I think this ended up being a good option for everyone. Now what’s next!?
I wonder how long after the order window closes that someone posts a lament about missing the window, and could it be re-opened pretty please.
This is highly likely to happen! :)
In the words of Hugh Grant, in what many think of as his defining masterpiece.
“Fuckity fuckity fuck”
You finally got me, it’s a great album. I do not have the set up for it, but what the heck.
Thanks for the opportunity of another row (discussion) with the Missus.
Discussions with the Missus…include me in the club. I thought music/Blu-ray media purchases were dangerous but took it to a new level when I started cutting holes in the ceiling for more speakers. I’m installing another pair in a few weeks and the goal is to have them in place before any such discussion occurs…something along the lines of “easier to ask for forgiveness than ask for permission”.
Chris, it has taken over 20 years for me to get from 2.0 to 7.1.2 with the hope of finally reaching 7.1.4 later this year. I am holding off playing the TFF Blu-ray until I get there.
Started off with two speakers. First I added a sub to fill out the bottom end (2.1). Then it was this missus’s desire to hear dialog better that prompted a center channel and rear speakers (5.1). For me multi-channel music was a game-changer with the advent of SACD and DVD-A in addition to watching movies on DVD with 5.1.
Then 4K blu-ray and Atmos lead to a new TV (65″ LG OLED), a new A/V amp (Marantz 7012), side speakers and front height speakers (above the FR and FL) which put me up to 7.1.2. It also needed a new cabinet. That was 7 years ago. That was a big chunk of change.
The worst part of the final step is that I need to replace my current height speakers and add two more as they need to be in-ceiling per the missus. Now the question is budget and to get them in before some other necessity wipes away the opportunity to achieve a full Atmos system.
She did like how Elton John’s Rocket Man sounded streaming from Apple Music in Atmos on our current system (it was pretty amazing), so I hope the final step makes it even better.
Good luck!
I’m lucky that my home cinema set up is upstairs so that if I did decide to install ceiling speakers I’d only be doing so into the loft bu I think that Dolby Atmos is pointless for music. Who needs to hear music above their head? Not me, pure gimmick. Movies? definite yes. Music? No. The only time I can think where this would work is that video where the saxophonist from Madness was flying in the air (Baggy Trousers?)!
I fully applaud this edition being reissued so quickly in its original form to fulfill its true demand. This method is probably the way to do it in the future. Probably best to not offer 2,000 products when you have 10,000 customers. I’m not sure that labelling the reissue as such is a good idea either, as most completists will buy another copy purely because of a sticker. Skews the statistics.
As for this release, I’ll pass. TFF only really released two really good albums (that’ll be the first two), in my opinion and SW’s surround mixes sound no better than my Yamaha receiver’s “5ch stereo” interpretations of a CD. Again, in my opinion.
My fifty something year old ears wouldn’t be able to tell the difference!
SW’s mix of The Tipping Point currently sits at the top of the all-time QuadraphonicQuad surround poll charts: https://www.quadraphonicquad.com/TabbedPollChart.htm
Now you tell me! ;-)
I did enjoy Detonation in 5.1, but I love that song anyway. My favourite surround albums aren’t done by SW, though. Prefer Bruce Soord as a surround sound mixer and my favourite wold have to be Dave Tipper’s album Surrounded.

An interesting poll, Jules. Also interesting is that a few of the titles I have in surround (I don’t have too many – 28 so far over the past seven years, with 3 more on order) are not listed in this poll, some of which I would think very popular (those being Ultravox: Vienna, some Marillion titles, Kiss: Destroyer, Fellowship of the Ring soundtrack, a few Fleetwood Mac titles, and Alan Parsons: Secret), although perhaps they don’t meet some sort of criteria for being considered.
I’ve looked up a few of those. Vienna and The Secret have no poll threads, so it’s impossible to vote for them at the moment. Destroyer has a poll (including some great behind-the-scenes comments from Steven’s friend and sounding board Plan9) but only 7 votes so far, which is below the necessary threshold of 10.
