This is one you really do not want to miss out on! The pre-order window for The Who Who’s Next SDE-exclusive blu-ray is about to close.
#30 in the ongoing SDE Surround Series, this blu-ray audio features a Steven Wilson Dolby Atmos mix, a Steven Wilson dedicated 5.1 mix and Steven Wilson stereo mix of the classic 1971 album. This is in addition to the original mix in 96/24 hi-res stereo.
On top of that, you get 14 superb bonus tracks of the highest quality, including unedited versions of singles such as ‘The Seeker’, ‘Let’s See Action’ and ‘Join Together’. These bonus tracks are ALL in Atmos, 5.1 and new stereo (remixed again by Steven Wilson).
That equals the content of the blu-ray in the Who’s Next box set, but the SDE disc goes further by offering instrumental versions of all 23 tracks on the disc (except ‘Bargain’). So that’s FIVE audio streams of Who’s Next (Atmos, 5.1, new stereo, instrumental, original stereo) and FOUR audio streams of the 14 bonus tracks (Atmos, 5.1, new stereo, instrumental). Question: the ‘Instrumentals’, are these the backing tracks (thus, without the vocals) or the backing tracks augmented with extra musical content (not heard on the final master takes) ?
